@WriMum22 is this how your little one started with a rash , I'm now thinking it's a milk allergy as I went back to his old milk and now this has happened but the other prescription milk was making him have a rash too 😭😭😭

Hi, have any of you had babies with projectile vomiting?

The first time my LO did it, I thought she was too hot, and this was a few days ago. Today she has done it again but I'm not sure why, the room was quite warm but I'm not sure ...

Also I've noticed on baby's back green marks beneath the skin ... Any idea what that could be?

WriMum22 · 16/12/2023 22:59

@LeeanneD11 hey, yes, it went exactly like that. We were doing really well on the prescription milk but she suddenly started to refuse to take it and then was screaming with hunger so I’ve put her back on her old milk. It was the only way we could actually get her to feed. I’ve found this whole feeding journey with her very stressful so far I must admit, I never had it like this with my sons

Hi yes same I'm struggling too and can never get an appointment with the doctor to change his milk , his always hungry , but now it's going to his chest . Xx

Spareincoming · 16/12/2023 23:40

@JoyApple we’re transitioning into the projectile phase of the reflux journey. Not my favourite by far!
@BabyBabyBaby123 Yes with the touching! It’s soo much worse this time around, I keep telling people to back off! I’ve taken to leaving the rain cover on the pram and when people comment I’m saying it’s to keep the wind off…

OP posts:
JoyApple · 17/12/2023 00:35

@Spareincoming do you know roughly how long this phase lasts? I'm feeling nervous to take LO on a long car journey to see family.

Spareincoming · 17/12/2023 01:36

@JoyApple There’s no timescale of the phase, it’s as long as it is unfortunately.
Don’t be put off from doing stuff, just be prepared with spare clothes and blankets for the car etc

@Spareincoming I do have a germ problem anyway, which I am currently having talking therapies help to address, but I have never had the confidence to actually tell someone not to touch my baby before. I usually just panic and try my best to clean where they were touched … so I am quite proud of myself and really think I’ll find it easier to just say a firm, but polite “do you mind not touching the baby please” and if anyone says anything back I have decided to just say “I have a thing about germs” which is the truth and I hope no one would argue with me about that …

DS puked all over himself in the shop, it is unlike him, but I had fed him in an awkward position in the cafe because I decided to wear the world’s fluffiest jumper and then put him right into the bassinet without a proper winding because DD2 was starting to get restless and we wanted to get home. It was a 1 off in the day and I think I have learned my lesson about trying to rush!
The shop assistants couldn’t have been more helpful though and gave me lots of blue roll to help clean it up and DH carried DS out of the shop as his pram was soaking wet.

Hi everyone, haven’t been here in over a month. Just been lapping up the newborn love. I hope everyone had great deliveries and are now enjoying your lil babies.
I did plan on going back and reading about everyone’s but I missed hundreds of messages!

Eira is just over 5 weeks old now. We have had zero schedule at all until I read lots of babies her age were sleeping 6+ hours per night, we’re lucky if we get a two hour stretch! So as of today I’m trying to get a schedule going in the day in the hopes it helps her night time routine. Other than that, life is sweet. I unfortunately gave up breast feeding at week 3 after extremely low supply issues and then a womb and episiotomy site infection, I just couldn’t do it anymore!

Spareincoming · 17/12/2023 06:51

@Psqueak87 ah look at her! she’s gorgeous! Well done managing 3 weeks of breast feeding, it’s a hard gig!

@BabyBabyBaby123 Good on you for being assertive! It’s not easy - I completely get the germ issues; I have had talking therapy for postpartum anxiety which manifested as health anxiety. The anxiety is definitely knocking at the door in the background this time round too. That, combined with baby being admitted to hospital with RSV a few weeks back, I am quite edgy about the whole touching the baby and what the baby touches thing!
I’m having to be really careful about what I say to the other DC about washing their hands and not touching babies face as I will whip myself up into a tizz!

PinkPlantCase · 17/12/2023 07:33

@Spareincoming I have to be so careful with what I say infront of DS about germs too. The problem is he’s so germy 🙈 standard constant 2yo cough and runny nose from nursery.

I freaked out massively the other day when we had a message to say there was a case of measles at DS’s nursery and now they have hand, foot and mouth going round. DS has had the measles vaccine so he shouldn’t get it but it means I can’t do the nursery pick up with baby DD because there’s no way I’m taking her inside the building at the moment.

Glad to hear from you @Psqueak87 !! Sounds like you’ve had quite the few weeks with infections but hopefully you’re on the mend now. When do your family arrive for Christmas?

If you wanted to hear some birth stories, I had a little girl at 40+6 at home, she came a bit faster than expected 😂 I went for a wee as I wanted to go before I got in the birth pool. My waters broke and her head came out in the same contraction when I was on the toilet, the midwife ran upstairs very quickly and her body came out in the next contraction with us all crouched on the toilet floor 🙈 Placenta was born on the landing 🤣🤣 The pushing stage in my notes is recorded at 2 minutes. I’m just so glad the midwife’s listened when I said I wanted them to come out to us! Much faster than my first who came about 2 hours after my waters broke.

foodislife1 · 17/12/2023 08:44

Thanks for the new thread

@WriMum22 we are that the same stage as you and my little one is also doing the same. Struggles to be out down and will only sleep on me.
Won't be put down in her cot for more than 30seconds.
I think there's a developmental leap around this time

foodislife1 · 17/12/2023 08:48

Also...has anyone oat their appetite? We are 6 weeks in and I'm struggling to eat anything.
No signs of PND as feeling generally good so wondered if it was just a reaction to csec etc

WriMum22 · 17/12/2023 09:30

@foodislife1 yes I did read online there was a leap around 5/6 weeks so that definitely ties in. We had a slightly better day y’day but still would not go down at night so another sleepless night for me watching her laid on me in between the feeds. Hoping we don’t have much longer before she is more settled.

I’ve been struggling with my appetite but feel really good in myself. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight since i had the section and my Dad actually said to me, you need to start eating because the weight loss youve had in 6 weeks is not good. But in all honesty, I’ve never been mega small, around a size 12/14, but at the moment I’m going more in to size 10/12 so I’m still a healthy weight and majority of my loss was pregnancy. I just become that focused on baby and her needs and then my sorting my other two children too that I forget to make something for me and by the time I remember I’m just not hungry so it’s a small snack just so I’ve got something in me.

JD90 · 17/12/2023 10:22

I've definitely been struggling with eating like others have mentioned. I just seem to forget and don't get hungry. I weighed myself the other day and weigh less than I did pre pregnancy, but I did have enough weight to lose that it's not an issue. Just balancing a newborn and the stress of everything with my teenager and her struggles is tough. I'm sure as we get more or a routine it will get easier.
Bub also isn't much of a fan of her crib but at 4 weeks where she's still trying to adjust to life as a separate person than me I'm not too fussed. She has her own protected co sleep area in our bed and when she's a bit bigger we'll manage the sleeping location thing. Right now I'm just going day by day, cannot wait until the end of the school term this week, takes so much pressure off everyone in our house for a bit as that's where most of DDs issues stem from.

LeeanneD11 · 17/12/2023 10:27

@WriMum22 this is my son now , just keeps coming up in spots xx

Psqueak87 · 17/12/2023 11:26

OH MY GOD! That is some birth story @PinkPlantCase. Literally the opposite of mine with my 45 hour labour with 2 hours pushing 🥴. Glad it was nice and quick for you! Let’s hope for a nice quick one with my second (If I get a second).

My parents actually just left; they flew over from the 5th - 12th. It was much too crowded in my tiny house, as expected. Especially as we had to give up our room, and we had been splitting the night into two and sleeping in separate rooms for an entire month at that stage, so it took some getting used to. I also found it hard not to hold the baby much, as mum basically held her for 7 days straight. But I tried to keep cool as I know she’s so excited to have a grand baby, and she probably won’t get to see her again until July.
My partners mum and her boyfriend are arriving in a week, for 10 days. So we have the crowding issue again, hopefully I’ll manage to keep cool again this time.

Deffo no loss of appetite here, still as ravenous as ever. Assumed weight would just drop off me after baby was born, but we’re 5.5 weeks later now and still only lost the initial 10lb that was baby and placenta. Still 2.5 stone heavier than I was to begin with, but I’m finally getting back out and walking again after some infections.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 17/12/2023 13:42

@Spareincoming I use Milton hand sanitising foam on my 23mo DD we have bottles in both of our cars, the changing bag and in the house. It is suitable from 3 months + and she loves using it.
I make sure to use it on her hands when she gets in the car from nursery and it makes me feel slightly less panicky, because she just LOVES stroking DS and generally poking and prodding him!
It isn’t the cheapest hand sanitiser, but we stocked up when Tesco had it on a Clubcard price.

Spareincoming · 17/12/2023 16:37

@BabyBabyBaby123 Thanks for that, I’ve never seen or heard of it but I’ve ordered 6 from Boots!

OP posts:
BabyBabyBaby123 · 17/12/2023 18:28

@Spareincoming neither had I, we had planned on using vital aqua spray, but it has a short lifespan once opened so would have cost even more than the Milton foam and it’s quite messy cos it’s very watery, but it’s great for sterilising teethers and toys etc on the go once baby gets into the throwing stage.

We got a bottle of the Milton foam free ordering Milton tablets on Amazon and that’s how I found out about it.

foodislife1 · 19/12/2023 17:13

@WriMum22
The regressions seems to have got worse..total nap time today so far has only been about 4 hours 🙈

DollyGx · 19/12/2023 22:39

Anyone else’s babies stay awake for ridiculously long periods of time? My little girl will be 5 weeks tomorrow, the past 2 nights she’s been awake from 1.30/2am - 6am. Has 2 bottles in that time but bottles very rarely send her to sleep. Then she gets so overtired she’s crying hysterically. Think she has silent reflux so most bottles are a very wriggly and uncomfortable experience for her. Any advice?! I am absolutely dead to the world today and bracing myself for another night of it tonight. I dread every night now ☹️ she’s been staying up for hours during the night (and sometimes during the day) for about 2/3 weeks now, it’s really hard going.

I feel you right now , my little one is 5 weeks and has been crying for 2 hours straight even after a feed . I'm drained and putting it down to Silent reflux or colic xx

LeeanneD11 · 19/12/2023 23:06

Can anyone recommend a good formula for baby , I was BF but my little one was matching on and the pumping got to much for me I was considering trying again but i think it's to late now as his 5 weeks .

We are currently on aptamil was previously on cow & gate but wasn't agreeing with him

Also how many oz is your child drinking and how long they going between feeds xx

Nov2023 · 20/12/2023 00:59

Another crying baby here mostly from 10pm onwards. Breastfed and feeding well but symptoms suggest reflux. He also seems really full of chest mucus that doesn't come out but makes him uncomfortable. We are 3 weeks in but the mucus and night time belly pain don't seem to be getting any better
