@Lillybobs86 I’m still bf and I’ve got a baby (9 months) who has been refusing the bottle. She started drinking from a cup at 4 months- doidy training cup, and now she has finally started taking the bottle! We stopped trying the bottle for months and just gave it a go a couple of weeks ago, lo and behold she took it. Now I’ll start to phase bf out as I’m going back to work in a few months.

Travellingislife · 14/08/2024 16:16

We’ve got a babyjogger city tour, good hood, easy to fold and light/ small. It doesn’t go completely flat though. I take it as handluggage on flights and it’s super easy.

I have a CMPA and other allergies baby too and have finally managed to get him to take daytime feeds from a bottle. Still BF at night. We tried and tried and failed for months but he took water and formula from sippy cup with a silicone teat and will now take from a bottle. We had to try all of the bottle brands though and add vanilla essence to the allergy formula until he accepted it.. Now he takes it without the vanilla and from a bottle

Lillybobs86 · 14/08/2024 22:51

@FlyingHighFlyingLow We did try that last night I left the room and his Dad took over but baby was crying so much for the boob so had to go back in :(
Hope you feel better now it's really hard isn't it.
@Travellingislife Glad she took the bottle finally that must be a lot easier now.

Tonight was so hard it was second night of attempting to get him to sleep without breastfeeding.
Used 3 different cups and finally he got sleepy and I rocked him to sleep, he had never fallen asleep like that before.
He rubbed his face for a second on my T-shirt like he would do when he wants to be breastfed then stopped - like he knew 💔
As soon as I managed to put him down into his cot I was very emotional and burst into tears 😭
It's very sad when you realise bf journey has come to an end 💔

@LeeanneD11 we used spring onions, she chewed on them and it numbs the gum somewhat. Husband is very into natural remedies so that’s what worked best.

anybody dealt with baby eczema?

I’ve added a photo below. I’ve tried making an appointment with my dr but she’s currently not seeing patients face to face and somehow diagnosed her with eczema without even seeing her. She hasn’t even seen a photo so I’m not sure how she can make this diagnosis. She’s prescribed hydrocortisone cream but my husband doesn’t want to use it without knowing if she even has eczema.
Some friends suggested it might even be impetigo. It’s starting to look quite nasty and I’m at a loss of what to do. I could take her to a walk in clinic, but that will mean having her in a waiting room full of sick people for an unknown amount of time, likely hours!

Hi ladies,
I hope you and LOs aren't too bad. I've been off MN for a while; it wasn't doing me good to cruise the boards so much while I'm still on ML and July is a bad month for me.

DC1 started nursery at 12mo and I didn't send milk in. They ate in the day and caught up with BF in the evening. This baby will have the same, although as it's a few weeks earlier I might try milk in a sippy cup. I don't see value in bottles this late.
I didn't start actively saying 'No' and removing breastfeeds until after 2yo. The night feed lingered the longest.
I'll do the same again, I'm not ready to stop.

@Psqueak87 how suddenly have the spots appeared? I have in my mind that impetigo worsens quickly and looks worse than that (...I'm not a doctor). Could it be allergy related?
You'd never be wrong to escalate health concerns.

Psqueak87 · 16/08/2024 23:33

@thack it started with little raised spots around the base of her nose about 6 weeks ago, and has slowly spread to her eyes. The nose area now looks less spotty but very dry. The eyes are looking quite bad right now, one more than the other. She does keep rubbing her eyes.

i did try cutting dairy out for a few weeks but it didn’t improve so I just let her keep having it. I haven’t tried eliminating anything else yet, would love some actual doctor advice but the medical system seems to have gone to s**t here. Can’t get face to face appointments with my family GP, nobody else is open to new patients and getting a walk in appointment is something I’m avoiding as hours in a waiting room of sick people is worrying to me.
i wish I could pay for private but that’s also not available in Alberta! For now I’m using tallow and coconut oil on it, but I think we’ve gotten to a stage that we need to use medicated creams.

DollyGx · 17/08/2024 00:00

@Psqueak87 oh poor baby. My wee one has eczema, hasn’t had any around her eyes but she does get it on her cheeks and other parts of her body. Have to say the hydrocortisone does clear it up a treat, but I need to use it consistently to keep it away (it’s only 0.5% so maybe that’s why). I’m a bit worried about using it so much but nothing else seems to work and her cheeks were getting soooo sore and dry I had to do something. I’ve book a private dermatology appointment but the soonest we can be seen is November! That’s so annoying you can’t get a face to face appointment :(

Psqueak87 · 17/08/2024 01:38

@DollyGx I’m sorry your little one has a skin issue too! Does it look similar to mine? I would be happy to use the hydrocortisone if a doctor actually looked at her and confirmed a diagnosis, I’m just hesitant to use it when my doctor hasn’t even looked at her. I use hydrocortisone myself due to some dermatitis, but I really hate that she’s diagnosing her on my vague description!

WriMum22 · 17/08/2024 06:26

@Psqueak87 I have had impertigo and it’s much more inflamed and spreads rapidly. I would say from the photo it’s eczema. My daughter had the same when she was a few months old and she was seen by the doctor. She wasn’t prescribed anything because she was so young so I just used Aveeno products with oat extract in and they cleared it up a treat. The bath wash and daily moisturiser were brilliant and as it’s all natural ingredients they were really gentle too.

DollyGx · 17/08/2024 13:00

@Psqueak87 This was her cheek this morning (excuse the state of her, strawberries for brekky!) it’s the same on the other cheek as well. I’ve not used steroid cream for about 3 days hence why it’s quite red. Tbh i’m not even 100% sure it’s eczema (what’s on her body definitely is). It started around May time and I thought it was just dribble rash, GP said it looked like perioral dermatitis and told us not to put anything on it. Done that and it just got worse and very chapped and sore looking, which is when we got prescribed the hydrocortisone. I’m just holding out for this dermatology app in November to see what they say, but it just will not go ☹️ yeah totally get your hesitancy to start with the hydrocortisone without even being seen!

Psqueak87 · 17/08/2024 14:49

@WriMum22 @DollyGx thanks for the advice. I just ordered a natural cream that a friend said helped with her babies so I’m going to try that next! 🤍

Spareincoming · 17/08/2024 23:28

Hey all. Anyone else dealing with separation anxiety?
Wee man won’t be left for even a minute without becoming hysterical. Everyone's sleep is wrecked as he’s hardly napping during the day so is over tired by bedtime at 7.30, when he settles for 20 minutes then wakes up screaming to be cuddled and the cycle repeats until 1am…

Even the older DC are growing tired of it and their patient souls!
I’m exhausted with it!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 18/08/2024 08:41

@DollyGx mines face looks like that!

@Spareincoming are we not 😅. Must be touching me at all times or wailing commences. If I manage to put him seated on the floor, and he leans forward to play with toys so isn't touching me, I have maybe 30 seconds before he realises and spins round and throws himself at me, arms wide, like I've been gone days 🙈. Won't sleep unless boob in mouth. I could go on.

DollyGx · 18/08/2024 11:23

@Psqueak87 good idea, let me know how you get on with it. I’ve just started using one on her face the last few days called Artio skincare, it’s just pure Shea butter I think, so far has calmed her redness so I’ll see how we go with that.
@Spareincoming yes definitely more clingy! God that sounds really tough with the sleep! Are you cosleeping? Could that be an option if you’re not already?
@FlyingHighFlyingLow is it eczema do you think? Have you found anything that works on it? And omg yes to the must be touching at all times 😅 same when she is playing on the floor, wants to play but be sat in my lap. And now to get to sleep she has to hold my hand through the bars of the cot, luckily she’s still in our room and cot next to our bed so I can lie down and do this, but sometimes happens a few times a night and by morning my arm/hand is agony with marks all over it 😅 was thinking about putting her in her own room soon but wondering if now is the worst time!

Psqueak87 · 18/08/2024 17:31

@DollyGx my cousin also mentioned she did oatmeal baths for her baby which helped with eczema. You put porridge oats in a sock, tie it up and add the sock to the bath water. At the end of the bath you can squeeze thick oaty water out of the sock and apply it too, like a moisturizer. Tried it last night and her skin did feel lovely after, too soon to say if it’ll help the rash though.

Spareincoming · 18/08/2024 20:28

@FlyingHighFlyingLow and @DollyGx Solidarity!
I’m sat outside our room right now whilst he wails. I’m just done today and have had to leave him for a bit. I’ll go back in in a few minutes.

We don’t cosleep regularly and at the moment it’s not working at all, it’s like he wants me to hold him until the minute I’m doing just that! We’re spending hours in the nursing chair, it’s always been one of my best buys!
