Great to see the new thread 😄

@thack how's your LOs dry skin? My little one has what looks like either dry skin or candle crap on eyebrows and upper forehead too. Initially I was hesitant to touch it, but I put some natural moisturising balm and gentle rubbed it, and it's been coming off. HV just said to put coconut oil but I'm not keen on the aftersmell.

Spareincoming · 15/12/2023 00:19

I have a cling-on baby at the moment. No-one else is acceptable!
Today I discovered, after 9 ish years of wearing it, I can wee whilst baby wearing using the soft sling wrap thingy. How come I never thought of or realised this with previous DC!

Thank you for the new thread!

8 days post c section here. Baby still won't sleep in the next to me so I'm still getting zero sleep 😴 but he's just so adorable!

Crazybrowncow · 15/12/2023 16:16

Thank you for the new thread.

@reememberly got on well thanks. It seems my last day of antiBs had an impact, so no more required, I finally lost the knot stitch today, 5+3wks!
DC is weighing 12lb2!! We were astonished! Happy weekend everyone!

Nov2023 · 15/12/2023 18:44

I'd like to join too please. The advice here has been amazing for a first time Mum and it's lovely to see the older babies making progress that I can expect for my little one.

PinkPlantCase · 15/12/2023 19:18

Thanks for the new thread 🥰

TMI2000 · 15/12/2023 19:36

@reememberly thank you for thinking of me! I’m recovering well, I was feeling quite woozy and weak for a couple weeks though I suppose losing 4 litres of blood probably made my iron and other levels low. GP prescribed me some ferrous sulfate and it has deffo been better the last week.
im nearly 4 weeks post partum and I’m still sore, it stings when I use the toilet, feels uncomfortable when I’m on my feet for long amount of time walking and sometimes sitting down I can’t find a comfy position as some positions hurt. I did have a 4th degree tear but was hoping I would be all healed up by now. Is it normal to take more than 4 weeks for healing?

PinkPlantCase · 15/12/2023 19:46

@TMI2000 I had a second degree tear and a very straightforward birth and it still stings to pee and the muscles down there feel like they’ve been through a lot, though I am going on walks now and can sit down mostly without pain. I’ll be 3 weeks post partum on Sunday and this is my second vaginal birth. I’ve had less pain this time around than first time when I had the same kind of tear.

So I’m not surprised that you’re still sore after a 4th degree tear! It’s a lot for your body to heal from. My midwife did recommend the my expert midwife spritz for bits spray, I said I thought it was a bit of a con but she said that one is actually really good for healing. So might be work a go if you haven’t got it already.

DollyGx · 15/12/2023 21:46

@TMI2000 i was 4 weeks pp on Wednesday. I had a 2nd degree tear and episiotomy (baby born via forceps) and by the end of last week I was still feeling really quite sore and was struggling to walk small distances, I would even get sore just standing rocking baby to sleep. Although this was my first baby so I don’t really have anything else to go off of, I just felt like something wasn’t quite right and I shouldn’t have felt as sore as I was that far on, so I went to the GP on Monday. She had a look at my stitches (all internal) and suspected that my wound was slightly infected so prescribed me antibiotics. She also gave me some medication for bacterial vaginosis just to cover all bases (I thought before going to the gp I maybe had thrush). 3 days in to antibiotics and I’m definitely feeling better and able to walk further. You had a 4th degree tear so I would imagine healing might take a bit longer? But don’t hesitate to get in touch with the GP if you feel like you need things checked over, I’m really glad I did.

TMI2000 · 15/12/2023 22:56

@PinkPlantCase and @DollyGx thank you for all the advice! I’ll keep an eye on it until my 6-8 week check up and see what they say then!

LilmissCa · 15/12/2023 23:10

@TMI2000 agree with the others.. I think a 4th degree would take more than the four weeks. 2nd the spritz for bits also it's fab.. also on piles lol. Altho my midwife advised me not to use it, I disregarded that advice lol

Thanks for the new thread ❤️

I have been hit with mastitis on Wednesday night, yday was the worst day, vomiting temp 40.5 shivers sweats full sore body & exploding boob. Not just as bad today, temp isn't as high & vomiting has stopped. Started antibiotics last night so hoping i pick up super quick
Think this is the end of my bf journey tho, which im ok with (until I feel sorry for myself)

Nov2023 · 16/12/2023 07:01

@TMI2000 4 litres of blood is a lot! Did you have an iron infusion? I was offered one after losing half that amount of blood but chose to give supplements a go for a month instead.

Any other c section babies still full of mucus? Only 3 weeks old here but full of mucus especially in the mornings. Does anyone know how long it takes to clear or does it need intervention like cranial osteopathy?

JD90 · 16/12/2023 09:17

I can't quite believe bub is almost 4 weeks old already! I feel like it's all been such a blur.

WriMum22 · 16/12/2023 10:25

We 6 weeks here, 7 on Tuesday. I just can’t believe how quick it’s going. I think she’s going through a leap though as she’s feeding much more, almost cluster feeding but she’s bottle fed and she’s much more clingy than usual. Struggling to settle and will not touch her cot at night now, will only sleep in our bed, so that’s meant no sleep for me for the last two nights.
Preying this doesn’t become the new norm for her

TMI2000 · 16/12/2023 10:51

@Nov2023 i know! I was in an induced coma for 36 hours and they still don’t know what caused the bleeding! The delivery went pretty well even though I needed a ventouse and episiotomy.
yes I had two iron infusions in the end and I had extra potassium.
for some reason I wasn’t discharged on any iron supplements but the gp prescribed me some ferrous sulfate last week due to me feeling really weak some days so I’ve been taking that.

I do wonder if it’s taking my body longer to heal as well because of the blood loss it’s still trying to catch up with regulating my levels and everything!

GreenAventurinee · 16/12/2023 16:44

Thank you for the new thread!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 16/12/2023 17:13

Thanks for the new thread!
I managed my first trip out by myself with DS this week in the car, I waited the full 6 weeks post c section to drive.

He wasn’t impressed in the pram and cried the whole time … so I’ll try again in the week, but this time with the sling.

I did have to ask an overly eager old lady not to touch him, I know he was crying, but why would anyone think of touching someone else’s baby in a shop?! 🙃
