After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Hi Pinkali - I am in Nottingham. Stressing out now - keep going to the loo, not sure whether I will have an internal scan with the dildo thing or not, hoping for an external but I don't think they will see much this early so know I will end up with the internal (does that make sense!).

I have had nausea on and off, but worst day was yesterday and thought I was actually going to throw up! Not too bad this morning, but it comes and goes. Boobs are sore too! I have had lots of twinges and keep thinking the worst, but then wondering if it is just growing pains! Who knows. Hope you get on OK today and will post when I get back, not sure how long I will be, leaving in 20 mins!!! oooooooooh major wobble.

X

Take care

Morning everyone,

Lots and lots of luck to those having scans today, hope they put your minds at rest. I have just got back from my first appt with the doctor. I think I was expecting it to be a wonderful experience, with the doctor congratulating me heartily, but in fact she was very businesslike, a bit disppointing really. In fact, she didn't seem too sure what she was supposed to do with me, what questions she should ask or what to do next. Oh well, she did say she would let the midwife know, who will contact me at some point, don't know when!! Oh, I really shouldn't moan, it was fine really, just not what I expected!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Heartmum2Jamie · 26/03/2008 09:35

Juanitad, that was pretty much how my appt went when I saw my GP 4 weeks ago. Actually, he printed off a letter and the letter said congratulations and then gave the number for the community midwives and I had to call them.

At least my chasing of the midwife last week has worked, she is coming to do my booking in appt today at 11.15. Hopefully it will feel more real once she has been and I have my notes. I am also hoping that she can chase up my early scan, otherwise it will be 12 weeks before I get there, lol!

I hope the rest of you have a great day

Renaissancewoman I hope you manage to get your private scan booked. It may not be an internal one - I was fully expecting to have one of those last week when I had my early scan, but I just had a normal one and saw the hb and everything just fine. I wonder if private hospitals have more sophisticated scanning equipment than NHS ones Wouldn't surprise me!
Pinkali and Smiles - good luck for your scans. It is nerve-wracking!
Juanitad Sorry the doctor's appt was a bit of a let-down for you. We get all excited being pg, especially when it's our first, but I guess they see it all the time and so it's nothing special to them. I found the MW much sympathetic so hopefully it will be the same for you when you have your booking-in appointment with her.
Dungungirl How are you doing this morning? When are you going for your bloods?
Hope everybody else is OK.

Pinkali37 · 26/03/2008 10:00

Good Luck Smile...

Like Smiles I think I may be just under 7 weeks now (although supposed to be 7 weeks today) but trying to convince myself that for me to have a 28 day cycle even on clomid was a bit too good. I tested on day 27 which was BFP so I suppsoe it was going to be around 30ish so I suspect they will have to do an internal. OH NO i haven't shaved my legs and I have blue poka dot socks on.. YIKES> call the fashion police.

Creena · 26/03/2008 11:49

Gosh, this thread has grown! Will catch up properly later but just popping in now to say hello to everyone! Also, I had my booking in appointment with my CMW this morning and it's all going well - provided all goes well with this pregnancy, I can have the home birth I want!!! So I'm super happy about that right now. Will try to catch up properly later, ladies - hope you're all well.

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 11:56

Phew! Back from the scan, saw the hb and little bean! Cannot get too excited as had same last year, trying to be positive though. Have joined the SPIN trial and am now a bona fide drug user! Heparin injections daily and baby aspirin - lets hope it all helps! Glad to be home, just fancy a real carb fest so have bought a pot noodle and plan on having pot noodle sandwiches - not a craving, just a treat!

DungunGirl · 26/03/2008 12:00

Hello everyone!

THanks so much for all the support yesterday with my little drama.

It all stopped by the time I left the office - only some brown discharge and by the time I got home for dinner, there was no more. So I sighed a big sigh of relief.

Woke this morning, and still all clear. So phew.

Had my bloods taken this morning and will know tomorrow. I am feeling positive that it was a mere little bleed and hopefully that is all it was.

I feel fine...didn't have any cramping or anything so fingers crossed.

Good luck everyone who's having Scans today!!

pinkali is this your 7 week scan? Oh good luck! It is going to be amazing! I have mine on the 7th of april...so soon !!!

Hi, after following the ante- natal thread with my first pregnancy (baby born Dec 06) and never getting round to joining, I have got my arse in gear this time and have jumped on board! I am due in November but don't know exact date-long story which I won't bore you with on my first entry!

Renaissancewoman · 26/03/2008 12:37

Well I've bitten the bullet and finally stopped procrastinating (trying to think positive and wait until 12 weeks but I'm crap at waiting and worrying too much) and organised a private scan tommorrow lunchtime. I'm going to see the Consultant I saw last year when I had miscarriage he was everything you'd expect of private consultant (including handsome). Getting more worried as MS has dissapeared and it has been extemely bad - have spent much of last few days in bed. Am now feeling extemely well and active. Been amazingly efficient in last 2 days and am off to gym now. I havent felt like that for weeks.

Juanitad - sorry you disappointed with doctor's appointment. There's not really much for them to do other than refer you to midwife/hospital. A doctor friend of mine gets annoyed that he has to see pregnant women at this stage "they're not ill and take up time that I could be spending with a sick patient". But it gets better when you have scans/seemidwives later on.

Serendippity - that cordial sounds nice. What brand is it & where do you get it?

Smilesattheweekend - what's the SPIN trial. Is it something to do with bloodclotting and m/c?

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 12:41

Hi renaissancewoman - hope the scan goes ok and the consultant is still as handsome. yes the SPIN is a scottish trial for women who have had 2 mc or more, they are looking at whether blood thinning helps the pgy.

serendippity · 26/03/2008 12:55

Renaissancewoman- It's called Bottled green and i get it from tesco, make sure you get the cordial and not the pre prepared stuff

serendippity · 26/03/2008 12:57

Pinkali- Fab book I got it from the library on CD the other day as well. Is Marian Keyes brilliant?

SoExcited · 26/03/2008 13:14

Another good cordial is Belvoir Ginger cordial. It's not cheap but goes a long way, and given how much we're savin on wine, any cordial is cheap! It's good mixed with tap water, fizzy water or hot water.

Pinkali37 · 26/03/2008 13:31

Hi ALL, Back from the scan (worst few hours of my life) BUT.... Am 6 weeks 5 days and PEA has a healthy strong heartbeat!!!!!!! I am so relieved. Had to have internal as external showed everything other than heartbeat. Due date 15th November.

Congrats Smiles. How far did they measure it?

Duncangirl - Really pleased for you.

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 13:38

Hi Pinkali - have been looking out for your post.

They measured they have put "A yolk sac and 6mm embryo with cardiac pulsations were identified - appearance consistent with 6-6.5 weeks pregnancy", They also put "bulky anteverted uterus containing a 29mm x 19 mm x 30mm gestation sac which appeared slightly irregular in outline" - they did say not to worry unduly about the irregular bit as I will be scanned again in 2 weeks.

Glad you are ok and have seen hb, internals aren't nice tho. They haven't given a due date, just said my dates fitted with the date I gave for my LMP.

What did yours measure or were you just talking about dates?

mad4mybaby · 26/03/2008 13:44

do they ONLY do internal u/s in early pg?

Bettispaghetti · 26/03/2008 13:51

juanitad and Heartmum2Jamie - I sympathise with you re the GP appt. Mine was similar although she had just come back from maternity leave herself and had no idea where I could have my scans, bloods etc!!! Came away feeling quite unnerved as this is the first time I've had antenatal care in this county.
STILL waiting for call from midwife who I was told would call me 10 days ago. Apparently you have your booking in appt at 8 weeks here (I'm 8 weeks!). Loads of questions I want to ask but can't get hold of anyone and no good calling GP as she doesn't know anything.......blah blah blah

Anyway, just to say I'm pleased and excited we're all pregnant...we don't need their congrats!!

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 13:51

Hi Mad4mybaby - yes, fraid so, they tried to do an external one, but as early on they could only see the sac and not the bean. Hopefully they might see more at 8 weeks by an external scan but they may still need to do an internal again.

Pinkali37 · 26/03/2008 13:56

Hi

PEA measured 7.4mm. With an over the tummy scan it did show the bean and yolk sac etc.. buu no heartbeat. Took the internal one to see heartbeat which was mighty strong.
