Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

serendippity · 25/03/2008 16:28

Hello i may be cheating actualy becuase, despite having a dd already, i'm not great at working out due date, suspect i may be due late november tho. Got a BFP 3 weeks ago- after just 2 weeks of trying -, overjoyed....and really scared- 2 children? what am i doing?!
I was a frequent poster when dd was born on an postnatal may thread almost 4 years ago, it was brilliant, but didn't find MN in time to post in antinatal bit. So here i am waves

serendippity · 25/03/2008 16:30

hanaflower- agree with lemon and ginger tea it is a godsend, soo helpful with dreadful waves of sickness. Ginger biscuits rock too, eating only thing that stops nausua!

Pinkali37 · 25/03/2008 16:32

Is it bad that I don't feel that bad ?? I bit off food but nothing too bad? Was more off it last week.

mad4mybaby · 25/03/2008 16:35

pink how far are you?

Pinkali37 · 25/03/2008 16:35

7 weeks tomorrow.

mad4mybaby · 25/03/2008 16:37

i was thinking that last few days but then i remmber i was great until i was 8 weeks with ds. So im dreading then! Maybe its still early? I reag somewhere the progesterone (sp) takes 7-8 weeks to kick in. Maybe you'll just be v v v lucky!

Pinkali37 · 25/03/2008 16:45

Oh goodness.. Just another thing to worry about.

Anyway, will see what tomorrow brings! Have a good night everyone. x

lackaDAISYcal · 25/03/2008 17:11

pinkali, the only ms I had with my DS was a mild queasiness first thing in the morning; once I'd had a cup of tea and some toast I was fine. I had a serious aversion to fish though and nearly hurled in a (fish) restuarant in Barcelona when I was eight weeks and had to leave but that was it really. As long as I avoided fish I was fine.

you might just be one of the lucky ones

serendippity · 25/03/2008 17:52

blimey i'm only 4 weeks, gagged at smell of freinds cold remedy today, and threw up 3 times yesterday! hopefully this bit will be over quickly, it wasn't this early with dd, perhaps it gets worse second time round!
Pink- seriously, i wouldn't worry. With dd i was sick but only at about 9 weeks for about 2 weeks and not that badly. It was more just early morning gagging, i had to carry water around with me constantly! Some people escape it completly ...obviously i'm not one of them...(runs off for more lemon and ginger tea)

dozymare · 25/03/2008 18:36

Oh serendpity LOVE the sound of lemon and ginger tea....we were on holiday in Feb(yes the bean was concieved there!) and the spa had the most amazing ginger tea that was actually made from granules! It was the best thing Ihave ever had and i bought 100 tea bags back with me! Trouble is, they are running out and I am getting desperate...where do you get yours from? I have tried the health shop varieties and they are not the same, neither is fresh so I am hoping yours are granules and you can point me in the right direction!!! I am just about to make macaroni cheese for supper......yet more carbs!!

Emmanj · 25/03/2008 18:37

hi all, it seems to have been a busy day on the thread - i can only really post evenings as work as a teacher and no daytime free!

Wedding was fine - no awkward questions as stuck to lemonade which was passed off for vodka/lemonade! No one asked anyway so worrying for nothing! (as per usual!!!)

pink - best of luck for the scan tomorrow, and dungungirl - hope ur ok now and you get the bloods done nice and quick.
Welcome to the new BFPs, its getting v busy on the list!

Still no MS for me although had a few odd twinges today and am really tired - got 1st midwife tomorrow which im looking forward to - but a little nervous too!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/03/2008 18:42

dozymare, it's not this stuff is it?

lackaDAISYcal · 25/03/2008 18:43

glad your subterfuge went unnoticed emmandj;

divedaisy · 25/03/2008 21:27

Happy Birthday hanaflower - hope you have a lovely night out. I too take lemon and ginger tea - it certainly helps with the nausea and is spicey enough to put a better taste in my mouth. Ordinary tea tastes horrid.

DungunGirl, I hope things are settled with you overnight and you get some needed rest and relaxation.

Pinkali37, hope your scan gives you the news your needing and praying for. Let us know how you get on.xx

divedaisy · 25/03/2008 21:32

Heartmum2Jamie men can be a right royal pain in the ass, but if my own experiences are anything to learn from - he's only human, not perfect - are any of us?? Some men try to help in different ways than what we really want or need. A lot of the probs comes down to communication - from both sides. SOmetimes what we say is not what is heard nor what is actually meant. IYKWIM?? Give him the book as his birthday pressie - my hubby didn't buy me a pressie for my birthday a few weeks ago, nor did I get spoilt for mothers day. As for falling out over a pack of teabags - is it really worth it!? I normally drink Tetly as I prefer it, so if you don't want them you can post them over to me - but please wait until December when hopefully I can face it again!!

Renaissancewoman · 25/03/2008 21:35

I decided to have a private scan but was going to wait until I past 8 weeks so could get abdominal scan and hopefully see more. But I am so bad at being patient and today my really bad morning sickness has disappeared which is freaking me as in previous pregnancies it has been constant until 12-16 weeks. So am thinking might go for vaginal scan. Really sorry to sound completely dim but could someone tell me what would be involved.

Roca · 25/03/2008 23:13

Hi Renaissance - with a vaginal scan they basically stick a condom on a long hmm probe (is 'ahem' a long vibrator type thing without the vibration thing) which I guess has a camera on it. They then put this inside you (ooh er sounds a bit odd written like this) and have a good look around.

It's a little intrusive and can give you the odd tweak of pain but is the only way to get a proper look in early pregancy I think and overall is not painful.

I have had quite a few with different pregnancies for various reasons.

smilesattheweekend · 26/03/2008 05:37

Hi all, sorry but I am a bit of a lurker as I don't get much chance to write messages as should be working. I have a scan today with the EPU, I think I will be 7 weeks on Friday but not really sure of dates as have been all over the place since 4th mc in october last year. It seems strange to go to the epu today for a scan though as I have not bled (yet),I almost expect it to happen as it always has, even when I had my son 5 years ago I bled for a long time and had scans up to about 16 weeks - still wearing sanitary pads each day just in case! My appointment is at 10am and I don't know whether I am excited or scared wotsitless! Hence I am awake right now, I woke up after having some really vivid bad dreams. I hope to see something, but last year had a scan at 7 weeks and saw the hb then lost it the same day so I know it wont completely put my mind at ease but at least I will know if we are heading in the right direction or not! I have it in my mind that I will feel more relaxed after the 12 week scan which seems forever away! I am off today which is good as no-one at work knows I am pg again. Will check in later!

PinkAli - What time is your scan today - whereabouts are you - LOL if we are sat in same waiting room!

X Smiles

dozymare · 26/03/2008 06:36

For all your ladies having scans today.....good luckxxxxxxx

serendippity · 26/03/2008 08:27

Dozymare- Afraid not! mine is twinings lemon and ginger, the key is to let it infuse for 5 miutes and squeeze the bag really well. I love the sound of your granuals tho!
I am feeling soooo nausaus this morning Drinking gallons of lemongrass and ginger cordial with sparking water- another reccomendation for you all, it costs quite a bit but sooo worth it and it does last for a while.
Anyone else having period type cramps quite badly? i remember them with dd but not until later, they're easing off now but yesterday and day before quite painful.
Off to dp's family tonight until monday, not looking forward to feeling so horrid and not being able to just flop on the couch in my pj's whinging can't really do that without everyone guessing!
Will add my due date after docs next tues btw.
Catch you later all.

Pinkali37 · 26/03/2008 08:29

Morning...

Hi Smiles, i'm off to Lincoln hopsital. My appointment is 11.45 and at the moment feel like I have severe MS but I know it is my nerves. I can't believe how nervous I am. Like you, i feel weird going to EPAU as no bleeding or anything to suggest anything is wrong but consultant suggested early scan to 'REASSURE' me. Hmmmm at the moment I am worrying myself into some sort of trance. I am so worried about MMC god knows why my last one was a mc and all the signs are totally different but I misinterpret boob tenderness coming and going and pains in stomach.

Good Luck to you too xxx Where are you?

I will let you know how I am doing.

serendippity · 26/03/2008 08:34

Pinkalili- good luck for today.
Reinassancewoman- hope you mage to get your scan and all is ok, i bet by 3.00 this aft you'll be puking for britain again

Pinkali37 · 26/03/2008 08:37

Serendipity - Totally random but I think I am reading a book by your favourite author, Rachaels Holiday???? Very good but I am such a slow reader (university put me off)so thus far I am 1/3 of the way through and that has taken me over 1 year ( I said I was slow) xx

SORRY TOTALLY RANDOM TRYING TO GET BRAIN OFF SCAN.... x
