@Pancakes7 I think if they've had measures in place to cover your workload all this time, I'd be surprised if they'd try to get you back in (unless it was a keeping in touch/wellbeing light touch approach, as some women might feel out of touch and want to be re-engaged and the employer has to take some responsibility to do that.) They will have to support you and ease you in whenever it is you start back!
My job I can do in my sleep, but it's very fast paced, huge volume and requires multitasking, so I know when I have a year out it's going to be hard to work at that pace ever again. But not something to give a damn about at the moment!! Also with the pandemic we are making cuts, so would worry my job would change/be gone by the time I return. I know pregnant women have rights but HR have loopholes for whatever they want to change really.

Pancakes7 · 13/03/2021 11:24

@HereWeGoooo Yeah I am going back part time 3 days a week so have had to give up my job. The guy who covered me is still doing it. So they don't really need me tbh. But they said they really value me and don't want to lose me. They are trying to work out a job I can do part time. So yeah they may think oh well she'll be free to us for longer. Keep her off lol

@HereWeGoooo What do you do out of interest? Hopefully you can go back to it. You may decide you want to be part time. Hard to know till you get to it.

@pancakes7 I'm a PA in a university. Will be nice to bow out of all the politics for a year though. Needing a break from the place. We bought a newbuild house a year ago, so have a fair sized mortgage to pay off, so it's difficult to know if we could afford me going part time. We'll figure it out at the other end. Let's just hope our babes are safe and well 😊 xx

Pancakes7 · 13/03/2021 14:28

@HereWeGoooo yeah don't worry about that yet. Fingers crossed for your scan. X

@HereWeGoooo my mum works for CQC (she’s not an inspector anymore - instead registers places and interviews managers/owners to make sure they know the rules and regs etc). She was really apprehensive about me having a private scan as essentially anyone can open one as long as they have done a sonographer course - so they might not be medically trained. They still have an obligation to raise concerns - but some don’t. You should be able to check your scan clinic on the cqc website if they have been inspected :) I ended up having to travel quite far to get to the one I went to - and it was worth it. They are all ex midwives/nhs trained sonographers too and they were so supportive (both when I had my anembryonic pregnancy and during this pregnancy) so you’ll be in good hands :)

HereWeGoooo · 13/03/2021 16:23

@Bellabubble Thanks so much, that's really useful info. Will go look that up now 👍🏻👍🏻

JRH4622 · 13/03/2021 16:56

@Bellabubble thanks for the info, I would never have a private scan after I was told everything was fine but then I started bleeding and the NHS scan said that it couldn't have been fine or have a heartbeat at my private scan! I was lied to and deceived! It makes me not want an early scan again even after 3 early MCs
I will check their website though! Thank you! Xx

Bellabubble · 13/03/2021 17:10

@JRH4622 I would be completely the same if that had been my experience too - it’s completely understandable! I was very lucky that the lady that owns the clinic I found actually used to work at my local hospital as a midwife - my mum is in no way controlling bless her - but she was adamant I could only go to a clinic with someone still registered with the GMC!

JRH4622 · 13/03/2021 17:13

@Bellabubble good on your mum! Is Good the highest rating?

Bellabubble · 13/03/2021 17:19

@JRH4622 the highest is outstanding, but sometimes a good can be a good because of one thing missing - I think usually the report has an overview (so you don’t have to read the whole thing) and it says what category got what grading etc

JRH4622 · 13/03/2021 17:25

@BellabubbleThank you! If I really panic and need an early scan then I will take your mum's advice!

Pancakes7 · 13/03/2021 18:35

@Bellabubble Ooh thanks for sharing. I have been to my place 3 times anyway, twice good news, once not and they have been great. But out if interest I checked and they have a good rating and outstanding in care. Always good to know.

I think the CQC is for England. I'm in Scotland and can only find where to find registered midwives (where I've found the chick that's doing me, who has been registered since 1999 to present which is reassuring) rather than registered sonography companies. @Bellabubble

Bellabubble · 13/03/2021 19:50

@herewego ahh yeh - the cqc is England - I think in Scotland it’s the Care Inspectorate?

JRH4622 · 13/03/2021 19:52

@Pancakes7 that's the test isn't it, can they give you bad news and look after you! So glad your scan was good!

Bellabubble · 13/03/2021 19:52

@HereWeGoooo definitely comforting that the lady has been registered for that long - I definitely find experience comforting in this area!!

Pancakes7 · 13/03/2021 20:09

@JRH4622 Yeah when it was bad news they got me a scan booked at my local hospital and passed their notes over. So professional.

Thanks @Pancakes7! Wishing everyone a lovely mother's day too! 💐

DD has been really excited. She is old enough to pick my present now, and her and DH have been very secretive this week. I hope there's something I can eat 😂 I've worked my way through my snack stash Blush

marplemead · 14/03/2021 07:22
