Welcome @ahuss. I think it's normal to feel nervous with a first pregnancy, even without a previous loss. Tender breasts was my only symptom at 5wks.

@Pancakes7 Thank you. 14wks makes sense. I have a midwife appointment around 15wks so will double check.

@lamby12 I'm still nauseas most of the day, but feel quite normal in the evenings. I had all day vomiting with DD until about 14wks, so I have to keep reminding myself it could be much worse.

So I woke up today with lovely, silky hair and clear, radiant skin Grin Anyone else?

Pancakes7 · 01/04/2021 16:15

@marplemead Nice! I think my hair is bring greasier quicker 🙈 but still clear skin atm. Feeling rough again so in bed. Need to drive my Mum home soon 🤢

@Pancakes7 Yes, I had greasy hair and acne, which is unusual for me. So it was a nice surprise this morning. I remember this sliver lining with DD, so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. It disappeared instantly after birth. I'm sorry you're feeling rough. Hope it's not a long drive!

ahuss · 01/04/2021 16:33

@Pancakes7 yeah it's a private one because I couldn't wait till the 12weeks NHS scan. I'm still thinking of pushing it back another week 🤦🏻‍♀️. I am soooo impatient 🤕

ELMcg · 01/04/2021 16:41

Thanks @PumpkinEverything for the tip about this thread, I see some familiar names here which is lovely!

I'm currently 5+2 so early days for me! I actually tested early (despite always insisting on waiting for AF and my hubby not wanting me to test on a work day-too distracting apparently!)

Anyway I was about 11dpo and walking the dog and just about threw up at the side of the road so I thought I better go take a test. It was a bright pink line from literally a 30 min hold so that was pretty conclusive. I've been extremely nauseous since so apprehensive for what's to come 😂

So lovely that some of you have now had your scans and all is well 🤞 for everyone else too. I don't know if mine is an autumn baby as EDD is 30th November but delighted to join this thread!

MrsTD88 · 01/04/2021 17:04

Welcome @ahuss and @ELMcg and congratulations to you both.

Pancakes7 · 01/04/2021 17:12

@ahuss Well congratulations and there's lots of lovely ladies for support here. Yeah the wait for the scan is so hard! 8 weeks is a good time to have a scan as you should see a lot. Try and keep busy if you can. Hard not to over think it though I know!

@ELMcg Welcome and congratulations! I hope you are feeling better today. Lots of great support here. Will you book an early scan do you think? Winter babies obviously welcome too ❤️

ahuss · 01/04/2021 17:41

@Pancakes7 the plan is to keep busy. And trust me there is a lot that keeps me busy in my life , but it's still always in the back of mind.

Also, I feel like I'm doing the "eating for 2" thing already 😭😭 anybody else eating more actual meals?

NatJ24 · 01/04/2021 18:12

Hi everyone I'm over from the TTC after MC thread too! I am currently 5+3. Got my BFP early like ELMcg!
Thanks @PumpkinEverything for mentioning this thread. The same as @ELMcg I dont think technically an autumn baby but its nice to see some familiar names.
So happy for everyone who's had their lovely scans recently! Its so nice to see! Congratulations I'm so happy for everyone.
I havent been feeling too nauseas yet. I've got sore boobs and weeing alot. On and off funny taste in my mouth and sooo tired!
I really dont know what to do about an early scan. I want one but then when I actually think about it I get this overwhelming anxiety. I havent even contacted the midwife yet have you @ELMmcg? I just feel so nervous about it all!

PumpkinEverything · 01/04/2021 18:14

Welcome @ELMcg @NatJ24 nice to see you both over here 😁

Welcome @ahuss yeah I keep going through phases of eating everything 😂 feels uncontrollable sometimes!

ELMcg · 01/04/2021 18:29

@NatJ24 I phoned to get my booking appointment and they were nearly full so I'm glad I did! Otherwise I would have had to wait until I was 11 weeks or something.

I've toyed with the idea of a private scan but I think I'm going to pass. If I get a scan and something is wrong at least if it's in hospital I'm in the right place. I found out I lost my last baby in a private scan and it was the worst ever so I think I maybe have bad memories!

Totally understand why people get them though does give a bit of reassurance!

JRH4622 · 01/04/2021 18:41

@ELMcg @NatJ24 @ahuss Nice to meet you on here!! Exciting time...if a little overwhelming sometimes!!

Pancakes7 · 01/04/2021 18:51

Welcome @NatJ24 Congratulations! I definitely understand great anxiety or as someone said scanxiety lol. I just couldn't wait to know. Do what feels right, no rush to book anything.

@ahuss I'm struggling to eat with nausea tbh but I'm craving sugary sweets which I'm not normally bothered about. I got Percy pig tails earlier lol. I'm normally more of a chocolate person. I'm eating like a child atm.

Evening everyone! I think some of you might be on the ‘autumn girls’ FB group so may already know as I updated there earlier - but my scan went really well today! Had to have an internal to get measurements (turns out I have a tilted womb and anterior placenta) but baby is measuring 1 day ahead and all looks normal!! It was so amazing and we are so relieved. Thanks for all your support so far! Xxx

Good you got your booking appointment booked. @ELMcg no rush to book a scan do what you're comfortable with. If that's waiting till your dating scan then do it ❤️

@Cafeaulait27 Aw wonderful!! ❤️

ahuss · 01/04/2021 18:55

@Cafeaulait27 awwh that so amazing! Congratulations on a successful scan. How many weeks are you?

PumpkinEverything · 01/04/2021 18:56

Plenty of time to think about early scans @ELMcg @NatJ24 I had a private one at 7 weeks because I was honestly so anxious that there was no baby in there and something else was growing as I got my BFP only two weeks after finally getting my negative after surgical management. So I really needed it to know that I hadn’t made it up and things were okay. I then had a scan at epu at 9 weeks as they had offered me one after my MMC, and the anxiety leading up to that one put me off having another one before my 12 weeks one. Although a week ago I did start panicking and wishing I had booked one between the 9-12 week scan, but not that I’ve done the 12 week one and seen everything was fine I’m glad I didn’t! I think it’s the waiting and anticipation that gets our nerves!

PumpkinEverything · 01/04/2021 18:56

Aw congrats @Cafeaulait27 so glad it all went well for you! What a relief 😊

vitaminb33 · 01/04/2021 19:14

Congratulations @Cafeaulait27 that's wonderful news!

Welcome to @ahuss congratulations on the BFP and great to see @ELMcg and @NatJ24 joining us!

@ELMcg I definitely think it's a difficult decision on the private early scan, I booked one for 8 weeks and on the one hand I thought I needed to get a scan out of the way before I had the hospital one (because I found out about my loss at the hospital so opposite consideration for you), and I was unsure about my dates (and it did turn out I was a week further along than I thought). I did keep convincing myself it was ectopic too so it was helpful for that. Also my partner found it really reassuring.

On the other hand, the panic leading up to it was horrible, I felt like it aggravated my stress levels and going in to have the actual scan I just felt awful. I think maybe if scans are more stressful than they are reassuring it's better to have fewer, but it's tricky! I had planned to have another before my 12 week scan but I think I'll wait now.

Cafeaulait27 · 01/04/2021 19:27

Thank you everyone!

@ahuss I thought I was dead on 12 weeks today but baby is measuring 12+1! Such a relief to be measuring slightly ahead, as with my first loss I was measuring behind at an early scan and then miscarried a few weeks later.

In hindsight I’m really glad I didn’t have an early scan. My thinking now is that they are so small at that stage it can sometimes give false hope or create more worry. It was hard to hold out and wait but in a way I found I was much calmer just not knowing until 12 weeks.

However, I’ve had no bleeding in this pregnancy so far. if I had had bleeding I definitely would want a scan. Xxx

Pancakes7 · 01/04/2021 19:41

@Cafeaulait27 Wow you did so well waiting till 12 weeks. I'm so glad all is well ❤️

I'm counting down the days till my scan. @PumpkinEverything I realised I'm doing what you did thinking of my days as little sections lol. So 4 days is the long Easter weekend with DH home and finally seeing family outside so that will keep me busy. Then Nursery settling. Then work, seeing a friend, work again. The weekend seeing our friends in their garden. The work, then scan!! lol it seems to help me 🙈😂

JRH4622 · 01/04/2021 19:51

@Cafeaulait27 congratulations on your scan and a lovely pictures...cutie!!
I'm holding my nerve and having my first scan at 12wks..2 weeks tomorrow is scan day!
@Pancakes7 scanxiety I'd genius and soo true! @ELMcg it was a toss up for me...massive panic about an early scan with reassurance after or ignorant bliss with mega amount of patience and hopefully a positive result! I opted for the later...ive had so many bad experiences with scans that they fill me with dread!
I just wish I could donate my unused NHS early scan to one of you brave ladies!!

marplemead · 01/04/2021 20:25

@Cafeaulait27 That's wonderful news! I'm so happy for you ❤️

ELMcg · 01/04/2021 20:32

@cafeaulait27 what a beautiful scan! You must be so thrilled to see your healthy baby in there!

It's so nice to hear positive stories on this group!
