@Cafeaulait27 that's great news!! Other than sore boobs and literally feeling them grow by the evening, and hunger I have no other symptoms. I'm 5+4wks. Haven't had any bleeding/spotting touch wood. You did so well to wait it out. I don't think I can, I have a scan booked at 8+4wks and still thinking of pushing it back a week.

Bellabubble · 01/04/2021 21:33

@Cafeaulait27 ahh yay lovely scan pic!! You must be so relieved! Well done for making it to 12 weeks without a scan too! I couldn’t hold out lol! Although my first was a mmc and the second was anembryonic so I had no bleeding either time, so i felt like my body had betrayed me those two times as they let me carry on thinking things were fine. I finally believe and trust my body now though :)

Cafeaulait27 · 02/04/2021 05:10

Thank you @ahuss 🥰

If it helps, I found my symptoms ramped up the nearer I got to 12 weeks, and they definitely came and went. So do try not to worry about symptoms 🙃 good luck for your scan!

Thank you @Bellabubble I can totally understand if you had a mmc why you would want the reassurance of an early scan. How far along we’re you when your mmc was discovered? Was it at 12 weeks or earlier? That was my biggest fear yesterday.

With my first loss I had a good private scan at what I thought was 6+6 but was put back to 5+4, baby had a hb so the sonographer was saying she wasn’t worried but I was as I was sure of my dates. I start bleeding on and off and went for an epu scan at 8 weeks which confirmed no hb anymore and baby measured only 6 weeks. I miscarried naturally a few days later, absolutely devastating.

I then had a chemical pregnancy a few months later.

It was then I decided on taking aspirin and progesterone in this pregnancy and I’m so glad I did, with my first pregnancy baby looked totally normal, just small so my theory is that it just wasn’t getting enough nutrients due to lack of blood flow. You never know but that’s just my feeling.

I know I’m not out of the Woods yet... just praying baby will keep on developing well now 🤞🥰

Cafeaulait27 · 02/04/2021 05:13

Thank youv@marplemead @ELMcg 🥰

Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 05:47

@Bellabubble I'm the same both mmc's it stopped growing at 6 weeks but my body didn't realise so I had all the symptoms and tested positive still. I didn't find out the first time till 5 weeks later when I finally started to bleed. The second time I had an early scan measuring a week behind, went back 2 weeks later and hb gone. Knowing sooner helped a bit as I was slightly less attached. Still heartbreaking though.

Every now and then I have that awful thought what if I go to my scan and it's just gone again? Although knowing baby was measuring nearly 8 weeks this time I feel I got past the 6 week mark so hopefully all is ok ❤️

I’m so sorry @Pancakes7 mmc ate truly to cruel. Really hope it works out for you this time 🤞

Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 06:10

@Cafeaulait27 Thanks me too. I'm feeling mostly confident from my early scan. But I can't wait to have my dating scan to just feel like ok I can enjoy this now.

@Cafeaulait27 the first time I had some old blood spotting which they were like “that’s normal, you don’t have cramps or red blood so it’s ok” and that was close to 9weeks - but I pushed for an epu scan and they said my dates were out as. i was only 5+3 (I knew they weren’t out!) it turns out nothing had progressed pretty much after I had taken my pregnancy test, and yet I had been having symptoms etc, they say mmc are less common - I think usually bodies realise quicker than mine did! The second time I booked a private scan as I was worried it would happen again, and that time it was anembryonic (so a sac that measured aoht 6 weeks but nothing else) and by the time the NHS made me wait for a second scan 2 weeks later, then booked me in for surgical management etc, I was 11 something weeks and my body still hadn’t started the process naturally.

My mum works for cqc in England though, and was verg clear that I had to go to a private scan clinic that had sonographers with an NHS background - as they are registered with the general medical council and have had really comprehensive training (apparently private baby scans aren’t counted as medical so they don’t need to train as long - a few days course, then a placement, then qualified, compared to years in the NHS) I ended up having to travel an hour to get to our one as it was the only one around - but they were amazing! In fact we went back at 11ish weeks this time too (partly because I was so anxious but mostly because my NHS letter said my oh couldn’t come) and she talked us through the anatomy check, explained where the nuchal fold was and what sizes they looked out for to combine with my bloods, let us listen to the heartbeat again, showed us all his or her little body parts etc - even said “oh their bladder is full, thru just had a littl drink!”. It was amazing! My NHS one she just said “yep I can see the heart beat, it’s flickering away, just going to take some measurements now, then sent me on my way lol! I was very underwhelmed haha! When I got there they also asked if I was bringing anyone and I said “no my husband is at home because the letter said to come alone” and they were all “oh no, it’s because we send out so many letters for scanning, but 12 and 20week scans can have a partner!” They could definitely have added thst to the letter lol! The hospital is quite raved about for their labour ward and birth centre - I just think the support in the run up to that isn’t always so great! Depends who you get scannkng/doing bloods etc on the day!

Woah - I wrote an essay lol!

NatJ24 · 02/04/2021 09:05

@Cafeaulait27 amazing scan!!! You must be so happy and relieved! Its so lovely to see all of the scans and good news!

Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 09:10

@Bellabubble Both mine were mmc's and I have friends who've had the same so they are more common than you think. I really feel after it happening twice to me that I must be more susceptible to them or something. I'm sorry you had to go through it too. It's horrible isn't it.

I travel about 30/40 minutes to the private scan clinic we go to as they are recommended by so many different friends of mine. Also someone who works for a fertility clinic said that their clinic recommends them. Also they aren't ridiculously expensive. They were great with good and bad outcomes I've had with them. I definitely agree you need to be careful where you go.

I know what you mean though nhs scans are rather matter of fact. My private scan was too tbh. But she did let us hear babies heartbeat and do a tummy scan which they don't normally that early. I even remember the 20 week scan with DS, I was like oh we want to know the gender. She was like oh yeah looks like a boy. It was so quick! We're doing a private gender scan this time. DH can't come to my 12 week scan either but can come to 20 week scan now but we have to have covid swabs 2 days before then isolate.

Its good to read everyone's views on early scans, it just shows that everyone is different and your own personal experience makes you feel one way or another about having an early scan. You just have to go with how you feel yourself ❤
Its so sad reading all of the MC and MMC stories but just shows how you can have success after and hope of a beautiful baby.
Mine was a MMC picked up at an early scan too. I'm still really unsure so I will give it a few more weeks to have a think.

Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 09:16

@NatJ24 Most women go onto have successful pregnancies after an mc / mmc. I had my first mmc May 2018, then has my DS born May 2019. Another mmc July 2020 and hopefully a DC this October. So the odds are in your favour. I hope it helps to know it can go right after going wrong. ❤️

NatJ24 · 02/04/2021 09:30

@Pancakes7 thank you so much. It is definitely reassuring to hear peoples stories like that and seeing all of the good news on here.
When is your dating scan? I bet you can't wait! 😊

Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 09:31

@NatJ24 it's Tuesday 13th April in the afternoon. I'm glad I'm at least closing in on the last week to wait. So much waiting in pregnancy!

OP posts:
Bellabubble · 02/04/2021 09:54

@NatJ24 it’s only a small % that have recurring, and often even then when they do more tests they don’t necessarily get any conclusive findings (meaning it is more just nature) I can imagine for those with multiple losses in a row it must be so frustrating, but pragmatically I found that weirdly reassuring, as after my second - I went straight to panic mode thinking that my husband and I had some genetic abnormality we were passing on etc etc until I read up on it more (tend to over think and jump to worse case scenario’s over here lol!)

The more I spoke about it with others too as tome passed, the more I relised (sadly) how common it was - but so many people went on to have healthy/happy pregnancies that it gave me lots of hope :)

NatJ24 · 02/04/2021 10:06

@Pancakes7 aw I know! So much waiting! But it is getting nearer for you now 😊 after this bank holiday its just a week to go then.
I hope it goes quick for you.

@Bellabubble thank you 😊 It is true that it is more common than you ever think before it happens to you. Its sad but it does help when you hear people go on to have successful and healthy pregnancies after. All you can do is remain positive and think of things like you have just said, that only a small % have recurring. 🙏🤞🌟

PumpkinEverything · 02/04/2021 12:57

Glad it’s helping you breaking it up into parts @Pancakes7 😁 I always do this with things, like even if it’s just a holiday or looking forward to time off work. All being well I’ve sat and thought to myself okay, so I’m off now for Easter, there’s two bank holidays in May + I’ve time off for a wedding, another wedding in June, we get a bank holiday in July in NI, then august is my birthday which I’ll take off, then I’ve no time off in September, and then October is baby time! So these are all my little steps to look forward to to get me through work when I know I need time off if I’m stressed or tired 😂

ELMcg · 02/04/2021 13:30

So paranoia has kicked in for me today ladies, I'm only 5+4 but this is the first day I haven't felt sick since I got my BFP. I keep telling myself it's unusual to be sick this early anyway, and I have read it can come and go, but almost feel like doing a test tomorrow again if I feel the same way. I had a test on Wednesday where the line was darker than the control line so keep telling myself it will be fine but I think after a loss it just always stays with you!

Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 13:39

@PumpkinEverything Haha yes I am so the same! Always counting down to something lol. My Birthday is August too! My Birthday is actually bank holiday Monday in England. So a long weekend will be nice. Loving the 2 May bank holidays too! As I don't work Tuesdays so 4 day weekend 🥳 I'll be working every other day in the week so I think I'll be looking forward to the next day constantly lol

OP posts:
Pancakes7 · 02/04/2021 13:40

@ELMcg Honestly as you said symptoms come and go. I didn't feel sick till 7 weeks. Everyone's different. Try not to over think ❤️

OP posts:
ahuss · 02/04/2021 13:57

Very random guys. But I've had 2 boiled eggs everyday for the past week for breakfast. Is that okay? It's not bad to have eggs everyday is it ?

PumpkinEverything · 02/04/2021 13:58

Oh yes, forgot about the long weekend in august too @Pancakes7 good reminder 😁

@ELMcg word of warning, I would stop doing tests if you’ve got a test darker than control. Like everyone else I’ve done quite a few, and then I die one before my 7 week scan just to reassure myself and the test line was lighter than the control, and lighter than it had been for the tests after my BFP! This obviously got me in a panic, but I looked it up and apparently there’s something called the hook affect where your hormones are too high and it makes the test go like this or something. I just don’t want you to panic yourself if you keep testing for another while and something like this happens. I’ve had 3 good scans since that test so sounds like it was the hook affect for me!
I’ve barely had any symptoms this whole time, I had the mildest nausea on a few occasions, and that was the height of it for me.

@ahuss eggs are fine as long as they have the lion symbol on them 😊 and I think it’s okay to eat them everyday!

Bellabubble · 02/04/2021 14:09

@ahuss eggs are a good source of protein - they just say don’t eat them raw (sounds obvious, can’t imagine raw eggs would taste great - but I doooo love licking out the cake mixture bowl when I bake so that’s a no no until September for me 😂)

ahuss · 02/04/2021 14:11

@PumpkinEverything thank you.

Also I'm like you with the symptoms will be 6+1wks tmro and I've barely had any symptoms the last 2 weeks except for veryyyyy slight nausea like twice and headaches here and there. Other than that I've had no major symptoms. So hoping everything is okay on my scan.
