Thanks for the new thread!
I have my midwife appointment on Thursday and trying to resist the urge to book an early scan but I have promised myself that I will have my scan just before my appointment at 10weeks with my genetic counsellor!
My boobs are so sore today!!!

Greenrubber · 09/03/2021 13:18

@pancakes7

Yes my first scan it's a private one as I've struggled getting hold of my midwife 🤦‍♀️

Pancakes7 · 09/03/2021 13:18

@PumpkinEverything Yeah I'm glad it's not just me too. Luckily I've turned off email notifications but just got loads of push notifications.

@Greenrubber Wow I don't know how you've managed to wait so long. Well done. Have you seen your midwife at all yet? An appointment should trigger a dating scan booking. If not phoned your gp to see what you need to do to get the ball rolling.

Pancakes7 · 09/03/2021 13:24

@JRH4622 What does the genetic counsellor do? Sorry I'm clueless. It's so good you have them helping you though.

Greenrubber · 09/03/2021 13:40

@Pancakes7
I just want to get passed this 12 weeks scan without being disappointed although then I have to wait for the harmony results to come back!
I have a phone app with the midwife also on Thursday so will find out about that scan soon although I won't really need it now

JRH4622 · 09/03/2021 13:46

@Pancakes7 my 3rd MC was Trisomy 13 so we had parental genetic testing done and got a geneticist (counsellor) who explained our results and the issues that we had had! They are also doing early testing to check for issues at 10wks.

Pancakes7 · 09/03/2021 13:55

@JRH4622 Ok that's really good you've got that help.

Greenrubber · 09/03/2021 13:56

@JRH4622
I hope this pregnancy for you turns out ok! Did they say that it was more likely to happen since it had previously? Will you be getting the harmony (Nipt) or the more avasive amniocentesis?

JRH4622 · 09/03/2021 14:09

@Pancakes7 I'm really lucky! I'm trying to hold my shit and stay really positive!
@Greenrubber Thank you, Trisomy 13 is so rare so no more likely than any other chromosome issue. They gave me soo much info but basically due to my age and bad luck we got an extra chromosome! Most likely from a pair of my chromosomes not splitting correctly. Tri13 is Patau syndrome which is horrid - zero life expectancy etc. so I have a 1% chance of having another chromosomal issue! I think my odds are awesome. I'm having a new test which maybe similar to Harmony but isn't called that which tests the babies DNA in my blood. Crazy amazing right! so if I hold my anxiety at bay (3 MCs is hard) then I plan to have a scan at 9+3 or 4 and then have the blood test at 10weeks! Wish me luck, I'm currently 5+6 and calm so I'm proud of myself because last time I was a nervous wreck and miserable! Are you having the Harmony test?

JRH4622 · 09/03/2021 14:11

@Greenrubber just looked it up and its the same test! The nice thing about having the counsellor is that they organise everything, explain everything so you don't have to remember! LOL

Greenrubber · 09/03/2021 14:20

@JRH4622
Yes the harmony! I had it when I was pregnant with DD just because I could really! I'm now 40 so thought I'm more at risk now so will be having it! Also like the fact you find out the sex which is exciting
Good luck this time round

JRH4622 · 09/03/2021 14:23

@Greenrubber I'm glad you had a good experience, did they say how accurate it was?

JRH4622 · 09/03/2021 14:29

Ladies, I have just listened to Happy Place (by Fearne Cotton) with Ronda Byrne (she wrote The Secret) its amazing!! I love The Secret and this is a wonderful discussion! Sorry I cant send a link out!

Greenrubber · 09/03/2021 14:35

@JRH4622

It's 99.9% accurate

JRH4622 · 09/03/2021 15:16

@Greenrubber hope your test goes well with this pregnancy!

Greenrubber · 09/03/2021 15:17

Thank you

Pancakes7 · 09/03/2021 18:06

@JRH4622 That's great odds, so good that it's highly unlikely to happen again.

@Greenrubber
Ooh the test sounds good too. Finding out the gender is exciting. A friend from work did harmony as she was 41 and had precious loss due to a condition. She found out the gender and it was correct. It's amazing they can tell from your blood and so early.

I think if all is ok, we will do a private scan at 16 weeks so we can find out together.

Thanks for the new thread!

@marplemead I had a similar experience with my DC- I'm quite laid back with their food but don't like them having sugary cereal every day, so they have stuff like Coco pops but only once or twice a week. They've watched me eat a massive bowl of Krave for the past few mornings and asked why I was eating their cereal 🙈 worst thing is, they're back at breakfast club now so don't have anything before we leave at 7.30, but if I don't have breakfast I'm sick and go straight to work after dropping them off so I have to eat while they're waiting for their own breakfast. Poor kids!

PumpkinEverything · 09/03/2021 19:09

@imisscoffee I haven’t had krave in so long! I used to love that 😂😂 I’ve been trying to stick to Rice Krispies, special k and crunchy nut, because I genuinely love all 3 of them; but I’d love some bad cereal 😂 we’re doing the shopping in the morning 👀

Pancakes7 · 09/03/2021 19:20

@marplemead I had to buy tangfastics after reading this! lol

Bellabubble · 09/03/2021 20:44

Thanks for the new thread :) I had my booking in appointment today in the phone, and tomorrow I have my bloods. Not sure what else they do or if it’s just taking my blood!

vitaminb33 · 09/03/2021 20:49

Thanks for the new thread @Pancakes7! Hope everyone's had a good/relaxed day. 😄

Smurf123 · 09/03/2021 20:54

I'm in NI @Bellabubble so I think it might be a bit different here as at my booking appt I had bloods done went over history and then had a scan but I don't think that happens elsewhere at the booking appt?

imisscoffee · 09/03/2021 21:01

@Bellabubble when I had my bloods done, she took my blood pressure, my height and weight and a urine sample. I was in and out within 10 minutes.
