New thread for us all to keep in touch. Think we're all nearing the end of the first trimester or dipping our toes into the second ... how far we've come since the days of agonising over stims!

@Lily999 haha, I am the same, hah.

Love wife summer dresses at the moment and for the first time enjoying no bra at all! I got maternity jeans from h&m and they are not bad! A bit early, but a good fit. I also got a pair of cheap maternity bras from amazon and they are good! Can't stand normal bra. Sports bra was great for a while but I feel like it compresses me a bit and I get tiered of them. Having less sore boob with the exception of when it's cold (sorry tmi) my nipples get rick solid and my whole breasts are a king with deep burning sensation. Hot water bottle is my savior! Also got Palmer's lotion against stretch marks and it's really good! I put it all over on legs too. Was talking to a friend about push chairs.. gosh so much info I need to process.

Viletta · 15/04/2020 19:14

@DobbieFreeElf good luck for tomorrow! I found it reassuring having a cheat scan at 11w as well. I'm sure everything will be good! Let us know.

rainbow178 · 15/04/2020 21:29

Ha @Lily999 Michal is a typo for Nuchal!!

Chooklass · 16/04/2020 06:28

Hi everyone. Thank you for the invite @Littlelot, really grateful for this space! I'm 13 weeks pregnant after IVF with our first baby. Very anxious as have had a huge amount of bleeding (although thankfully seems to have stopped... for now?...). 12 week scan all good, just waiting for blood results now but haven't heard by phone in over a week and they said I would get a phone call with a problem. So trying to relax!

@DobbieFreeElf I hope your scan goes well today x

Chooklass · 16/04/2020 13:02

Welcome @October2020 !! Sorry to hear about your bleeding - that must have been scary. So glad your scan was fine x

😊 one chilled little baby just hanging out! Was very well behaved and easy to measure. After being a couple of days behind it’s now measuring a couple of days ahead but they’ve left my EDD the same as we know exactly when it was conceived! Feeling much happier and more reassured now and we have finally told our family and a few friends 😊

Welcome @October2020 I’ve noticed your name a few times on threads about bleeding in early pregnancy, not sure if you’ve read back but I have a SCH and have had a couple of bleeds, my biggest was last Friday so I was up at 3.30am today worrying about the scan today but all happy now (and in need of a nap!) x

That's a wonderful clear photo @DobbieFreeElf! Congratulations!

Sorry to hear you've been through similar, I wasn't officially diagnosed as SCH because it seemed not to be connected to the placenta but it's been absolutely terrifying.

So pleased for you. I always sleep for HOURS after scans and appointments, I get so nervous I think it wipes me out!

Lily999 · 16/04/2020 15:38

Great news @DobbieFreeElf and welcome @October2020, loving your name :)

I left a message to the midwife yesterday and actually forgot about it, she called me now and I asked about the low PAPP-A. She told me it is a lot more common than I would think, she has seen many many cases and she has never seen any issues coming out of it, that made me feel so much better! she said she even had friends of hers with low PAPP-A and they all freaked out, but everyone was fine. She said they have to tell us everything, but if it was up to her she wouldn't as there is nothing I can do and it is only a possibility that the baby won't grow as fast, she said it is likely in a few weeks I will feel like the baby is massive and I will complain about that. :)

Also said they will measure my belly in 3weeks time and it will be obvious by then if the baby is growing as it should, so now I am going to watch this bump very closely for sure. There is absolutely nothing at this point that would indicate anything is wrong, she reminded me they brought my EDD closer meaning the baby has been actually ahead and normally they would think the ovulation was wrong, but with an IVF pregnancy it indicates the growth more precisely.

Sorry for the long post, I just had to write it out as I am so excited to finally feel less worried about this!

Viletta · 17/04/2020 05:35

@DobbieFreeElf what a lovely picture! Glad the scan went well!

@October2020 welcome!

@Lily999 your midwife sounds lovely! Good to hear you are less worried now.

I slept all day and now can't fall asleep at night.. the lockdown and working from home flexi hours messed up my schedule. Googled prams, cots, and all things baby! Can't wait 😊

Wimbledon1 · 17/04/2020 08:17

Amazing, congratulations @DobbieFreeElf that's great news, fabulous scan pic and a relief after the bleeding I'm sure. Hope you can relax and enjoy now (not that I'm entirely practicing that 🙈) Is there anyone else to have a 12 week scan or is that the full house?

Welcome @October2020, lovely to have a new member. I was also lucky enough to get pregnant on my first round of IVF and am about a week ahead of you. Sounds like you had a stressful first trimester but hopefully smoother sailing from here 😀

How are things for you @FlapJackered and @justkeeprunning5 - hopefully you've just been offline a while surviving the crazy works we're now in!!

Anyone else looked at NCT or similar yet? The only v suitable one in my area around my dates only has two places left which was a wake up shot when I looked!

October2020 · 17/04/2020 09:19

Thank you for the lovely welcome Flowers

@Wimbledon1 good reminder, I have just sent the enquiry email for our one! Hope there are still spaces. I think a lot of it might feel a little pointless as this is definitely a c section delivery but it will be great to make friends locally. Bit worried about meeting pregnant people outside the IVF world in case I infect them with my endless worrying Grin

Did everybody book their 20 week scans or did the letters just get sent to you? I'm unsure if I should be booking it or if it just happens automatically.

Not feeling at all pregnant at the moment- just FAT! Think we will book a 16 week scan for some reassurance as all the bleeding so far has made me super anxious.

FlapJackered · 17/04/2020 11:19

Hi @Wimbledon1 sorry for the absence I have been plagued by headaches so have been avoiding screens a bit! Work is not going well! 🤦‍♀️ Head is a little better now though. Thanks for the reminder about NCT I am going to book that now!
How are you feeling?

Welcome @October2020 😁 sorry to hear you've had a rough start to it. You think once you get the bfp the worries will be over but they really aren't!

@DobbieFreeElf congratulations! That is a lovely clear scan! It looks like s/he is sucking it's thumb!

Congratulations @rainbow178 so glad the scan went well. 😍

@Lily999 sorry to hear you've had some worry with the Papp-a it sounds like it is nothing to worry about though which is great! I have got my quad test tomorrow which is instead of the combined screening so I am a bit anxious. 😬

I am with all of you living in one pair of trousers! 😂 my jeans are SO uncomfortable now I look like a bag lady in my tracksuit and baggy top.

Viletta · 17/04/2020 11:41

@October2020 I got a letter through the door for the 20w scan within 2 weeks after the 12w scan.

Wimbledon1 · 17/04/2020 13:10

Oh no, still suffering from the headaches @FlapJackered? Hopefully not for too much longer, have you at least been able to tell work now, get a bit of slack?! Hope everything goes well with the quad test, sure it'll be fine though as the sonographer was reassuring about what she could see wasn't she?

For 20 scans it must really vary by hospital (again!) as my sonographer just booked my 20 week then and there at the last one. I've not had a letter to confirm though 🤷🏼‍♀️

So a random thing I never thought I'd say in my life....but I'm starting to worry about not gaining weight! I checked this morning for the first time in a week and...zilch. And checking back in my notes from my booking-in appointment at week 10, I've actually lost weight (almost 2kg!). This seems odd to me. Frustrating that 16 week appointments are now over the phone and they won't be able to weigh me on the same scales or examine/Doppler me. My BMI was totally normal before this so it does feel like I should be starting to pile it on...just wondered how other people's weight is going? Or bump? Problem with IVF is that we've all had bumps from the progesterone since before we even knew we were pregnant 😂

October2020 · 17/04/2020 13:19

I am definitely piling the weight on but I don't think it is baby, more that I am solely eating processed carbs and spending all day on the sofa! Have you had lots of sickness? My midwife is going to see me at 16 weeks because of the bleeding and my anxiety which is good. Maybe ring your midwife and ask if an exception can be made?

DobbieFreeElf · 17/04/2020 15:54

Thanks everyone! Yes @FlapJackered either thumb sucking (or smoking according to my sister 🤣)

I 100% recommend NCT but mostly for the friends! Our best friends we met in our (small) NCT group (of 5 couples) with DS. I couldn’t imagine not having them now and always joke they were worth every penny of the course fee! Were still very friendly with the others, 1 couple had had IVF and they were a fantastic help throughout this process. The WhatsApp group, coffees and walks in the first year were priceless!

I’m huge, having only gained 3lb in the first 10/11 weeks I was shocked when I weighed myself yesterday and I’m 8lbs heavier than when I started!

I bought these mat leggings on amazon and they’re great: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KXJ48M8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lkCMEbW5KJS5B?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

DobbieFreeElf · 17/04/2020 15:57

Oh and my 20 week scan was booked at the hospital but I’ve also received a letter for a consultant appointment at about 18 weeks. My midwife has mentioned that I may end up being classified high risk and consultant lead due to a couple of factors (IVF/ taking thyroid med/ SCH)

October2020 · 17/04/2020 16:59

Very helpful @DobbieFreeElf thank you. Goooorgeous bump too!

I will give it until the middle of next week and then start chasing appointment letters because I don't have a scan letter and I'm definitely consultant led and haven't heard about that either.

My bloods came back v low risk so that's been a good thing about today. 1:28007 (so specific!) for downs and 1:50000 for the other two.

Lily999 · 17/04/2020 17:02

Hi Ladies! Weekend is almost here whoop whoop! :)

I got the exact same leggings @dobbieFreeElf, how spooky, loving them btw already considering getting another pair (have the purple only). Very mice bump you are having over there, I now feel that mine turned into a baby from the bloat haha, but I pretty much look the same since stimms started to show same as @Wimbledon1.

@October2020 I also got the 20week scan appointment on the day of the 12weeks one then also got a letter through the post. Fun fact it says if I wish to reschedule I should call the number within a week from when the letter was written and it took over a week for it to arrive to my house, but the date is ok anyway was just surprised :)

@FlapJackered will be thinking of you good luck for the quad test, looks like we might go ahead and book the Harmony one as at the moment that is our only chance to find out the gender plus after this PAPP-A panic we are desperate for some reassurance even if it's for other diseases. I know it sounds silly, but I believe it will make us feel more confident in a way.

Viletta · 17/04/2020 21:04

@October2020 very good results! Congratulations!!

Viletta · 17/04/2020 21:08

@DobbieFreeElf Thank you for recommending NCT! I wonder how The course would work online. Would love to meet couples but wonder if online experience is going to be the same. What do you think?

October2020 · 17/04/2020 21:13

@Viletta the website is saying my course would start in August and they're hoping to be face to face again by then... but a friend of mine is doing it online and loving it so I think they're doing a good job either way.

Viletta · 17/04/2020 22:14

@October2020 thank you! I'll try to subscribe for August and hope it'll be face to face!

FlapJackered · 18/04/2020 08:06

@Viletta my sister is doing the online one at the moment and said it is really good!
Ideally by August we will be able to go in person though.

@Lily999 not silly at all! i think it's right to go for the harmony if it is going to put your mind at rest, it's not worth worrying about for the rest of the pregnancy. I have heard the harmony is really thorough and accurate too.

@Wimbledon1 luckily I am freelance although I am definitely behind on work and been doing the bare minimum to keep clients happy. 😬
I really wouldn't worry about gaining weight, I don't think you need to in the first trimester unless like me you're underweight. I have put on 2kg but I really needed to and I don't put on weight easily normally.

Should we be sleeping on our sides now? I have been trying but I wake up in the night on my back again. How important is it at this stage?
