New thread for us all to keep in touch. Think we're all nearing the end of the first trimester or dipping our toes into the second ... how far we've come since the days of agonising over stims!

@FlapJackered I just had a green smoothie from a frozen mix of avocado, spinach and kiwi, added fresh banana and orange. What do you add in yours? I want to incorporate more veg in mine as I already eat lots of fruit.

FlapJackered · 04/04/2020 09:55

@Viletta I normally have avocado, kale, spinach, pepper (the veg kind!), berries, cucumber, apple and sometimes banana. Do you know if the frozen spinach is pre-washed?

Wimbledon1 · 04/04/2020 16:14

I also meant to say, as think a few people have their scans this week....afraid they wouldn't even let DH on the ward on Weds. I'd read this was likely but also that they were contacting people about that. So I expected a call or something and as it never came; I thought it was ok. But nope, turned away at reception to sit in the car for him.

Not saying it to worry anyone but probably best to be psychologically prepared for doing it alone unfortunately 😔

FlapJackered · 04/04/2020 16:39

@Wimbledon1 I am so sorry your DH wasn't allowed in with you, it's a really tough time to be pregnant. I am so glad to hear the scan went well though! I am surprised they changed my date, although it doesn't really mean anything I guess.
I just had my 20 week scan letter through and as predicted it says no partners for that one.

Viletta · 04/04/2020 17:13

@FlapJackered Frozen fruit and veg should be pre-washed. Although I found sites that suggest washing them anyway, I think it should be safe as listeria should die in the freezer.

I checked my 20w appointment letter and it says make sure to let them know a day in advance if I have a Coronavirus symptoms. No mention of partners. On 12w appointment they said they encourage partners to come. We'll see I guess. We are in the south west where there are not too many cases comparing to midlands

Viletta · 04/04/2020 17:23

@FlapJackered also impressive smoothie! Is it tasty?

Littlelot · 04/04/2020 18:13

Also don’t know about anyone else but I phoned to book my 16 week appointment and they said they are not doing these any more - not even by phone. Said they will check my blood pressure at 20 week scan.

I’ve just scrubbed all bits of veg more thoroughly then ever and made a nice salad to go with this evenings BBQ.

Viletta · 04/04/2020 20:12

@Littlelot it looks like it varies a lot. I've got my 16w at GP's surgery in 2 weeks. They booked a double slot for me as midwife has cancelled my 10w home visit and said she wants to go over my questionnaire. I feel blessed it's quite here at the moment.

Is anyone showing yet? My BMI was 27, but I feel like I've got lots of fat around my belly that normally was not showing and now it's kind of pushed outside and it's hard to suck the belly in. You can definitely tell now that I've got a fat belly. I only gained 1.5 kg. Don't care much about it as I'm at home anyway, but wondering if it's going to be huge later on.

FlapJackered · 05/04/2020 07:59

@Viletta I think it's pretty tasty! I am used to the more veggie taste now though I think!

I was also wondering if I was showing as I have definite bump but then I found this diagram and I think it is just bloat as my bump is just below my tummy button and at 13/14 weeks the baby is much lower than that. I have been eating so much so it might be fat too. 😬

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself as after getting my energy back at 12 weeks and feeling fine the last few days I have been exhausted again and feeling really unwell and just generally unable to do anything.
I really thought it was over and I was into the dreamy 2nd trimester energy boost!
I am just so fed up of not being able to do anything. 😩

Actually the last couple of days I've thought I am starting to show, more than just the progesterone bloat. I did lots of googling and although the answer is generally "it depends" the most frequent answer seems to be about 13 weeks, so that would be right for us @FlapJackered and others. Guess it's easier to push out of your belly than your pelvis so maybe it's just making space above where it is actually sat?! 😂

Sorry to hear you are feeling crap again. I think I've been very lucky - a bit tired at times and a handful of nausea incidents and three nosebleeds. Otherwise zilch. Let's hope it's this well behaved when it arrives!!

How is everyone doing? Hopefully you are all able to get into gardens and into the lovely sun today 😎

Viletta · 05/04/2020 18:35

@FlapJackered nice diagram, thank you! I am sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish, let yourself rest and take it easy. It's quite stressful with the lockdown and everything else that's going on.

I feel fine but sleep lots and sometime have twinges in ligaments. Enjoyed the sunshine in the garden xx

Lily999 · 06/04/2020 07:01

Good luck today @Chooklass, let us know how it went. :*

Chooklass · 06/04/2020 07:36

Thanks @Lily999 - my appointment isn't until mid-afternoon. Still feels so far away! 😂

Lily999 · 06/04/2020 10:00

Ha! I know what you mean, pretty much all of my appointments so far have been during the afternoon ( this one on Wednesday is 14:40), so even when that day finally comes it feel like ages away :)
I am feeling pretty nauseous and hoping it's a good sign, we'll find out in a couple of days.
Keeping my fingers crossed for your news today! Can DH go in with you?

Chooklass · 06/04/2020 10:34

@Lily999 - no, he has to wait outside in car 😢

OP posts:
Lily999 · 06/04/2020 10:36

OH, no, really? We were not told anything yet, still hoping he can come in, it is heart-breaking, I really want him to see our baby. I understand it is for safety reasons and all, but he is just as much of a parent of this baby as I am :(

Chooklass · 06/04/2020 10:43

I'm glad we had the 7 wk scan so at least he's seen the heartbeat! I totally support the NHSs decision in this - makes sense for health of us, our babies and the staff.

OP posts:
Lily999 · 06/04/2020 10:57

Yes, fair enough. Were you thinking about video calling him to see the baby moving? I was told a picture is not the same as watching the movement. Or maybe recording it on your phone for him to watch later.?

Chooklass · 06/04/2020 11:05

Yes, if I'm allowed I will be doing that!

@FlapJackered thank you for sharing that diagram. I certainly have bloating very low down and would be hard to cover up if I was in the office as I usually have a very flat tummy. It’s worse in few evenings.

Best of luck @lily999 and @Chooklass for your scans. It’s such a shame about the current circumstances and not allowing partners into the centre (although I’m fully on board with the reasoning behind it). Apparently my centre which is separate to the main hospital building is still allowing partners, I’ve got a friend having a scan this week at the same place so will be interested to see if her husband is allowed in. Still 3 weeks to wait for me.

Viletta · 06/04/2020 13:31

I had a call with the midwife, the 16w appointment has been cancelled but will be done over the phone. She asked my to fill out my test results in the book for her and talked a bit about birth options, we've got quite a few here, hospital, labor ward, maternity center and home! I would love a home birth although this sounds a bit scary right now.

Chooklass · 06/04/2020 16:49

Scan went well! Everything looking as it should. Was lovely to see it moving around 😍

DobbieFreeElf · 06/04/2020 19:44

Congrats @Chooklass & good luck weds @Lily999

I ended up having another emergency scan today as I went to the loo first thing and had some bright red blood on wiping. EPU got me straight in and pregnancy looks fine 😊 phew! Then I came home and went to the loo (number 2) and the blood it seems to be coming from the err ... other hole 🤦🏻‍♀️ Obviously I’ve popped a vessel! Could have done without that! Plus side 11 weeks and a healthy scan 😊

I’m definitely “showing” and I look about 20weeks by the evening with the bloat! But I had DS 3 years ago so my muscles are not as tight as they were!

Wimbledon1 · 06/04/2020 21:19

That's great news @Chooklass - congratulations! Glad all is well and you enjoyed seeing wriggler! I really liked your idea of videoing for your DP, didn't think of that when they wouldn't let mine in last week. Did they allow it?

Chooklass · 06/04/2020 21:58

They didn't allow videoing @Wimbledon1 , sadly. It was all fine though. OH went to do the food shop while I was in! He said it still feels magical seeing the pics and hearing all about it 😊❤️
