UKtoSK my edd is 1st July, although I will give birth at 38 weeks in late June.

Zeldetta · 21/01/2020 08:19

@Kez437 definitely right to call in, don’t feel bad. Sorry you’re unwell and hope it improves for you soon Flowers

Twittlebee · 21/01/2020 09:03

Tbh I think it's good to not have a pressing preference @chocolate26 as so much is out of your control in labour and birth. But do certainly do your research so you know what's on offer and what your like to give a go and what to expect in different situations.

So we had a cot from IKEA www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/sniglar-cot-beech-30248537/ @Rinoa for DS1 and he fit in that till 10 months and probably could have gone a little longer but he moved into his cot bed at 6 months in his own room, we just kept the cot up in our room for those nights he was poorly.

hjbows88 · 21/01/2020 09:46

Yes @chocolate26 do your research. I think the most important thing to figure out for yourself is what you are not comfortable with and make sure that is in your birth plan and communicated to your midwives when you arrive at hospital. Beyond what I’ve said here about my absolute non-negotiable, I’m open to everything else (pain relief, location - would like to use pool if available but it’s not an absolute for me etc).

chocolate26 · 21/01/2020 10:06

@Kez437 do not feel bad for calling in sick! You need to rest and look after yourself and baby 😊 I also am struggling with hideous indigestion and reflux 😔 it's worse at night after dinner, it sometimes feels like I'm starving because of the grumbling ache in my stomach! I'm on omeprazole because of it (I started being sick blood from the acid burning my throat) I also take Renee when I need it.

Doubl · 21/01/2020 10:19

@Kez437 you and baby are top priority so don't feel guilty! Better to feel rested and well than cause extra stress on yourself, enjoy your rest!

Blizy · 21/01/2020 10:25

Kez437 you done the right thing. You and baby come first. I'm off too, I have spd and struggling to walk, I'm feeling the same guilt about calling I'm. But I am no use to anyone in work and e other girls would have to work doubly hard to help me.

HayleyD84 · 21/01/2020 13:53

@Twittlebee I am so so sorry to hear about your losses, your strength really is an inspiration!!
I had the scan of my cervix yesterday and they said they look for anything over 20mm and mine was 45mm Shock so they said very thick. They still want to scan me in 2-3 weeks as they said that could change so just to keep an eye.

I had a meeting with a consultant and they said that my original cesarean scar has bad scar tissue also with a sack of fluid behind my scar. They said it looks like a much newer scar than a 5 year old one.
I wanted to go VBAC as I am petrified to have a section due to a bad experience, but they said that due to my scar I have a very high chance of having to have an emergency section or a uterine rupture so she strongly advised me to have an elected section, so I have taken her advice and decided that is what I am going to do. Confused

My due date is 14th June, so the section will be booked between 7-12th.

20 week Scan is next Tuesday 28th Jan, oh my time is dragging!!! I cant wait until that is over. My friend said "thats only a week away it will fly" they just don't understand how stressful this scan is and how time drags leading upto it.
Anyone else have a scan that day or close?

Mj2196 · 21/01/2020 14:01

@HayleyD84 My due date is also the 14th, I have my scan on Friday the 31st Time is definitely on a go slow . So anxious !

Twittlebee · 21/01/2020 14:15

Oh wow that is a good length isnt it @HayleyD84 ! Seems I've the shorter cervix out of us all having been scanned. Interesting how your hospital has a 20mm threshold and mine a 25mm one for a stitch though. Also, I've not ever had anyone look at my scar and it's so new still really and actually looks worse now than it did 10 days post section so really confused how my Dr said I'd be good for a VBAC?

QforCucumber · 21/01/2020 14:19

20 week scan confirmed he is definitely a boy and everything else is all ok, breathing the biggest sigh of relief right now!

Cornishbumpkin · 21/01/2020 14:55

Fab news @QforCucumber you must be over the moon.
@HayleyD84 I'm due the 15th June and my scan is next Monday (27th) Smile getting excited and nervous all in one

umabb · 21/01/2020 15:28

@Cornishbumpkin @HayleyD84 mine is on Monday the 27th too and due June 14th xx
Really can't wait

Gigitree · 21/01/2020 15:49

My 20 week scan is not till 7th feb! Feels like forever away!

APD1981 · 21/01/2020 16:28

I have my scan first thing tomorrow morning. Due on 7th June. I've just finished work so I now feel that there's not much more time to wait. Just hope I sleep! Nervous but excited to see it again too. It's kicking me so much today!

SearchingTheSkies · 21/01/2020 16:48

Congrats to everyone with happy scan news!

@UKtoSK I'm also due late in June (26th) as is @Twittlebee if I remember rightly. Hopefully time will speed up between now and the 20 week scans!

I have a consultant appointment tomorrow due to having asthma. Anyone else been referred for asthma? I presume it'll be an admin type appointment but not too sure what to expect.

Rinoa · 21/01/2020 17:59

@SearchingTheSkies I have asthma , had it bad when I was younger but as an adult it's subsided. Shows it's ugly head when I get sick but mostly under control. I was only told to have an asthma review to see how I am. But nothing other than that. Also the my Inhaler is safe if I need it

@TwittleBee that looks like a decent cot but still a bit big I think for our room. I think I need to look in person at a cot and a bedside thing.

Also there's a Baby show at excel in London sponsored by Lidl if anyone is looking for inspiration! End of Feb

umabb · 21/01/2020 18:23

Hey ladies, have anybody had any bad itchiness recently.. I had some sort of a hot flash this afternoon followed with bad itching skin everywhere... stomach, legs, breasts, back.... was horrible. I had itchy skin a week or so ago too but wasn't as bad. I was reading this page www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/itching-obstetric-cholestasis-pregnant/
It sounds common but slightly worried about ICP. Wondering if anybody had similar experience ? Thanks

BabyBird20 · 21/01/2020 18:55

@cornishbumpkin I'd forgotten we have the same due date! My scan is on Friday and I am counting down the minutes! Can you feel baby yet? Xx

Cornishbumpkin · 21/01/2020 19:13

Hey @BabyBird20 oo that's exciting, are you finding out what your having? I haven't really felt anything properly, thought I maybe felt something last week when I was singing in the car lol. Are you feeling things yet?

rainbow1982 · 21/01/2020 19:25

Hi ladies, my due date is 6th of June, 20 week scan today and all is good!! Omg I was beyond relieved!! Seeing the little nose and lip when she checked for cleft lip was amazing!! Head circumference is 18cm which I find amazing with still 20 weeks to go!

Is anyone else having a surprise? It was tempting to get her to look but we resisted!!! Seeing the 4 chambers in the heart was incredible too 👍🌈🤰🏼👶

Blizy · 21/01/2020 19:30

Lovely rainbow1982, that's fab news.

SearchingTheSkies · 21/01/2020 19:32

@Rinoa yes I was a bit surprised to be honest as I wouldn't say mine's severe, but I do use a preventer inhaler daily. Must just be protocol in my area.

Congratulations @rainbow1982 - sounds amazing!

chocolate26 · 21/01/2020 20:14

@rainbow1982 congratulations on your scan being all good 😊 we are having a surprise too! I want to find out but husband doesn't! We agreed before I was pregnant that we wouldn't find out so I'm sticking to that.

HayleyD84 · 21/01/2020 20:21

@umabb def speak to the hospital or doctor about the itching, a friend of mine had this and had ICP, May be nothing but def don't leave it get it checked out.

@Tweetlebee I'm surprised they didn't check your scar? they told me they like it to be at least 18-24 months for the scar to heal before a V-bac. I'd def get a second opinion xx
