Good luck for your scans @newbyxx @Smiffette can't wait to hear about them!!

@chocolate26 I'm so worried about gas an air making me feel sick and dizzy, I hate that feeling 🙈 going to look into some birth and pain relief ideas x

AndddddHerewegoagain · 17/01/2020 20:17

@AmyMaria2 pethodin probably won't be for you either then it makes you all woozy and light headed.

The good thing about gas and air is as soon as you move the mask away it wears off super quickly, you probably already know that. Tens machines are good as well x

Pegase · 17/01/2020 20:24

Midwife appt and nice loud heartbeat today! Feel like they want you in and out as quickly as possible mind!

I had an epidural for induced labour. It was great- highly recommend it!

Rinoa · 17/01/2020 20:44

Any after effects of epidurals you girls have had ? Besides the numbness?

Also how long do you still bleed after you give birth?

BabyBird20 · 17/01/2020 20:47

I'm so jealous of all these scans!! Mine is still a week away and I can't feel him in there at all yet! I've gained a good stone, in not a stone and a half so far!! Can't stop eating biscuits! 😬😬

Had my 20 week scan this afternoon....we had a naughty little monkey! We were in there for about 40 mins because he was moving all over in very inconvenient positions! I was jumping in the room at one point! All good though and they confirmed 16 week gender scan that it's a boy💙 sonographer was lovely and took a lot of time showing us around our baby and what and why they check different bits. Hope everyone else's today went well and those that are waiting enjoy it because it's over quick....even if they do misbehave 🥰

It’s Saturday morning here in Korea and today we’re going to visit the birthing centre that we are interested in. It’s the only natural birthing centre in our city. Korea has something like a 40% c-section rate so it’s important to me to find somewhere with doctors and midwives who won’t try to force one on me for their convenience. I’m open to an epidural, especially if I have a slow labour, but would rather avoid it. They offer “walking epidurals” here where you can still use your legs and walk around though so that’s good. No gas and air available, but I also think I wouldn’t like being dizzy and out of it.

By the way I’m so grateful for this group being so far away from the U.K.

17 weeks today!

Holly27 · 17/01/2020 22:05

Hello everyone, I've just joined the thread today and I'm due 3rd June. I've enjoyed reading all the messages and feeling reassured I've had a similar experience so far to lots of the mums to be! I was wondering if anyone who doesn't want to know the sex of the baby thinks they have accidentally found out yet? I didn't want to know and I made it really clear to the sonographer but the baby was jumping about so mad so I think she forgot to tell us to look away while she was carrying out her tests and zoomed over the private bits! Anyway, both my husband and myself thought we saw 2 round ball shapes between the legs and assumed it was a little boy! I've since been researching it and a lot of people are saying it's not that easy to tell and can each sex can be mistaken for the other. Basically I'm hoping the surprise hasnt been ruined so hoping other people have thought they saw this but it turned out to be a misinterpretation. We would be delighted with a boy or girl as long as its healthy but I really didn't want to find out before the birth. Apologies for the length of the message! Xx

MissisBee · 17/01/2020 22:12

I had an epidural last time, it was great. Could still move my legs with it. Not sure when it wore off as I ended up with a general anaesthetic and was quite ill and not up until the middle of the next day anyway. Gas and air was weird, didn't feel sick or dizzy, just really zoned out and the noise of the fetal heart monitor went all magnified.
Not really sure what to do this time, think probably try for vbac if I go I to labour spontaneously, but c/section over induction otherwise. Keep wavering about just going for elective section overall.
Main point this time as well as last time - get baby out safely.

Cornishbumpkin · 17/01/2020 22:13

Welcome @Holly27 I've heard it's not that easy sometimes to be sure what your looking at on scabs so I'd treat it as if it could still be either Smile

I've had the worst heartburn all day today at work, anyone got any good remedies for it?

MrsD20 · 17/01/2020 22:42

@Cornishbumpkin my lovely midwife has prescribed me with Ranitidine, which apparently is like the crown jewels of the heartburn world 🤣 Mine has been awful too!

Does anyone have horrendous lower back ache? Mine is so painful, I feel like a 78 year old not a 28 year old! DH has ordered me a pregnancy pillow though so I'm excited to try it.

Lovely to see so many scans going well ❤️

Pegase · 17/01/2020 22:46

I spoke to mw today about ELCS due to my awful previous birth. She was rather uppity about it and referred me to consultant mw to discuss (standard procedure I imagine) as 'there are risks as well you know.'

@Rinoa no complications of epidural for me. All straightforward. Gas and air made me feel sick.

Pegase · 17/01/2020 22:48

@Cornishbumpkin I'm having a glass of cold milk for heartburn which rather surprisingly has actually helped.

Will carry on if it works or try Gaviscon or something if needed

Doubl · 17/01/2020 22:55

@Pegase
Be careful with milk for heartburn, it can make you produce more acid
Rennies are decent, just taste a bit chalky

19 weeks, been lurking!

UKtoSK · 17/01/2020 22:59

@Holly27 when I had my 16 week scan she moved over the legs and bum area and I thought I saw something too but when she later went back to focus on that area whatever I thought I saw was gone and it’s a girl! So you might not have seen what you think you saw if she was just passing over the area. I think you can still consider yourself safely in the dark!

QforCucumber · 18/01/2020 00:13

With ds I had gas and air, then mepthid injections, then a spinal block as was prepped for emergency section -thankfully delivered with forceps after the consultant gynae decided to check 'one last time' I did end up with a catheter for a couple of days after due to bruising which was a bit shit and then got an infection in my stitches but that was my fault- I decided to put skinny Jean's on and go for a 2 mile walk 5 days after having him, they rubbed and aggravated the stitches.....stick with leggings and cotton big pants!

QforCucumber · 18/01/2020 00:15

Still look back at it positively which is great and I think that it helped that I didn't have a strict plan- when it got to the point of ' this baby needs delivering as his heart rate is dropping' I stopped caring and let the pros do what they needed to do.

RPPs · 18/01/2020 05:11

Morning Ladies, prenancy pillow not working at all. Infact i think its more uncomfortable with it. Its too firm. So ive been up at 4am having Crunchy Nut. Not going near the scales until I have to.
Has anyone had to wait 2 weeks for their urine results? I had an infection last time. At 17 wk apt it looker borderline but that was 2 weeks ago and no word.
Have a lovely weekend all.

mrssunshinexxx · 18/01/2020 07:25

@RPPs I thought that the first couple of nights and felt disappointed but now I love it! Might be worth sticking with it

umabb · 18/01/2020 08:28

Congrats on more happy scans and welcome the new joiners ! Wine I've thought about birth plans... - would definitely not be home though me thinks.. and yes, epidural please....
Yesterday I was moaning about no movements and in the evening we picked up my parents who are visiting for Chinese New Year, and while I'm lying on couch with mum chatting he started kicking/pushing again! The parents got us some very cute baby clothes - maybe he's excited about the presents for him!

peetieswie · 18/01/2020 08:59

@RPPs the midwife phoned me yesterday and they have lost my urine sample. That's two blood tests not processed and now a lost urine sample. Getting a bit frustrated. My first one was borderline but she dipped mine last time I was there before getting it ready to send off so said it looked clear. I am quite prone to UTIs.

Still no movement. I'm 18 weeks now. Still a while till scan. Starting to get nervous. Was considering private scan but scared I'll get bad news and sort of don't want to know 😩
