@peetieswie that's really bad. How can you have confidence in that hospital. The movement can feel like your tummy rumbling or wind moving around. Try a ice cold glass of water or sitting on the sofa like sailor. I only feel it in short bursts. It gets scary when they go quiet for a few days.

chocolate26 · 18/01/2020 09:29

@peetieswie I'm 18 weeks too and I find when I'm up and about I don't feel any movements but if I lay down really still I feel it then or if I eat something sugary. The movements are so light though and could easily be mistaken for wind bubbles. Or if I jump around a bit and then lay down still I can feel it move position then. I haven't had a scan since 12 weeks and my 20 week scan is on 3rd feb so I'm also very nervous and have considered booking a private one but I had lots of private ones before 12 weeks and my husband might think I'm going round the twist 😂 did you get to hear baby's heartbeat at 16 week appointment? I know they don't listen in some places.

Cornishbumpkin · 18/01/2020 10:41

@Pegase Thankyou amazingly the glass of milk worked, I can't stomach gaviscon but do have some rennies if it gets too bad. Getting very excited for my scan on the 27th hearing about all your good news Grin

SearchingTheSkies · 18/01/2020 11:26

@umabb haha I like the idea that your little one moved once the presents came out. How lovely!

@peetieswie No wonder you're frustrated, that's really bad.

My movements are so infrequent. I felt the baby on Sat, Sun and then not until Fri. I'd love it to be everyday as I worry on the quiet days, but I think it's normal for 17+1 (I hope!).

umabb · 18/01/2020 11:55

@peetieswie I was looking at all relevant posts yesterday worrying about movements and it does look very common for a lot of us not feeling movement even up to 20wks +. Don't get too worked up as it's still early days - they are like a size of a banana ! Not much in our growing tummy SmileWink

umabb · 18/01/2020 11:57

@SearchingTheSkies I had a quiet week between 17-18 wk too x it is really common to have quieter days at this stage Brew

Gigitree · 18/01/2020 15:13

@chocolate26 yeah my midwife did listen for the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment- but it sounds like it varies depending on where you are and which midwife you have!

Rinoa · 18/01/2020 15:43

thanks all for your birthing stories, this is why I like these kind of groups! given me lots to consider.

I got this pregnancy pillow, bit pricey but hey it works for me! I agree though it took a day or so to get used to it. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VLY8B76/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s02?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

Magpie21 · 18/01/2020 16:38

Gosh I am feeling so tired this week! More so than the last few weeks.

18 weeks - No flutters yet but I’m sure they will come in the next couple of weeks.

umabb · 18/01/2020 16:43

@Rinoa exactly the same one that I got! I'm all fully settled with it after a week or so.

umabb · 18/01/2020 16:44

@Magpie21 I hear you. Feel shattered today perhaps because I have guests at home. Back really hurts!

Gigitree · 18/01/2020 17:15

What’s everyone’s thoughts/experience on dyeing your hair whilst pregnant? The NHS website doesn’t say 100% one way or the other - I’m only talking highlights so the dye wouldn’t be fully saturated on my scalp.

Twittlebee · 18/01/2020 17:34

I honestly think it would be fine @Gigitree

It is shocking they can lose things like that isnt it @peetieswie - I've had too many stuff going missing before now too

Pegase · 18/01/2020 18:43

I've had my hair dyed already and will do again. www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/is-it-safe-to-use-hair-dye-when-i-am-pregnant-or-breastfeeding/

Rinoa · 18/01/2020 19:26

@Magpie21 I'm taking liquid iron as midwife suggested since my last bloods he said it was a bit low. Took a few weeks to see a difference but I feel much better during the day, and less tired.

AmyMaria2 · 18/01/2020 19:42

@AndddddHerewegoagain thank you, no I really don't know anything so it's all helpful!🙈
It's really helpful having the ladies on here who have had babies before, I'm sure nearer the time I'm going to have so many questions for you all as I get nearer and more nervous for the birth!! x

Still no movements here 20+3

Having a nice chinese on the sofa watching a film tonight 🥰

Gigitree · 18/01/2020 19:48

Thanks @Twittlebee

@Pegase Thanks, yeah that’s what I was looking at, they seem to suggest it’s safe but it said research was limited etc so it wasn’t like they were giving the green light (but perhaps I’m over thinking it!)

HayleyD84 · 18/01/2020 20:14

@Tweetlebee I'm having a scan of my cervix on Monday, I had the skin of my cervix removed due to high grade cell changes and they are concerned that has made my cervix thin so be interesting to see what the measurements are.

I'm debating weather to have a vbac or an elected c-section. I had a horrific birth with my first and had to have an emergency section which had allot of complications and I had allot of problems during and after.

I'm scared to have another section although I've been told by so many people that planned is so different to emergency.
I want a vbac but am too worried about the risk of uterine rupture.

Have no idea what to do Sad

AndddddHerewegoagain · 18/01/2020 20:54

@AmyMaria2 happy to answer any questions i know the answer to!

Just remembered this tonight- if you're planning on breast feeding from around 30 weeks start putting nipple cream on, just a couple of times a day. It helps to stop your nipples from cracking, bit like putting vaseline on your lips before your lips crack if that makes sense?

MissisBee · 18/01/2020 21:09

I've never thought twice about dyeing my hair during pregnancy.

@HayleyD84, I'm also having the same debate. I ended up with a crash section with DS, under general anaesthetic. Currently, my thoughts are, if I go into labour myself, I'll be happy to try for vbac, but I'd go for section over induction, particularly if it looks like things might happen early again. If I labour, I want an epidural immediately!!

MissisBee · 18/01/2020 21:14

Probably too early to be thinking about it, anyone else planning to do antenatal collection of colostrum? Or anyone do it before?

Rinoa · 18/01/2020 21:39

@AndddddHerewegoagain good tips for breastfeeding! I've been putting bio oil/moisturiser/ since month 3 or so. My nips and areolas are so itchy from the growth ! Sorry if tmi but I even have dry patches already :( hope there's no issue when actually breastfeeding

AndddddHerewegoagain · 18/01/2020 22:01

@Rinoa i have the itchiness nipples as well. And all my skin is dry presumably from where its being stretched! Annoylingly boots used to do a cheap nipple cream but it seems they've stopped selling it. Really begrudge having to pay £10 for lanolin already!

QforCucumber · 18/01/2020 22:06

My midwife last time gave me stacks of free samples of lanolin - I had them in every bag. I did buy a tube at one point - that entire tube lasted forever, doubling up as lip balm when I no longer needed it for boobs 😂

umabb · 18/01/2020 22:32

@AndddddHerewegoagain thanks for the suggestion on the nipple cream - never knew it existed! Will get one when approaching 30wks!
