Appointment went well. Heard heartbeat but said they only try to find it if you ask, and was hard to find and baby moved away so only heard it for a little while. Still reassuring.

Had to bloods AGAIN! Two samples haven't been processed because of mistakes. Was gutted as had a trainee cos my midwife was off and the trainew did it really badly last time. I barely know my midwife cos she led the appointment last time and again this time! Anyone else got a male midwife?

hjbows88 · 08/01/2020 15:23

I didn’t get bloods or weight so maybe that’s not something they do every appointment? Although no doubt that varies by location like everything else seems to!

MsMiaWallace · 08/01/2020 16:03

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday @ 15+2 & they listened in to the heartbeat as part of routine.
She picked it up straight away!

MissisBee · 08/01/2020 16:13

Weight definitely isn't a routine thing at appointments, and unless there's problems, next bloods are 28 weeks. That's so frustrating about yours peetieswie!

Baby showers definitely aren't my thing either. Last time round, work were planning a meal out for me, but DS arrived before that happened! Don't want to be hard done by this time!
Haven't bought a thing as we've got most stuff already from DS.

Zoey92 · 08/01/2020 16:35

I won't be having a baby shower either, I've my 16wk appointment tomorrow.
I've not bought a thing yet and people keep commenting on it (quite annoying really) I've my gender scan 29th & plan on going out to buy after that, plus I've a spare room to organise & furniture to get rid of, but apparently I'm being "very relaxed"

chocolate26 · 08/01/2020 16:36

@Twittlebee so sorry to hear about your son passing away ☹️ I can't imagine the heartache! I can't believe your friend had a go at you for not attending whilst you was going through a MMC! I think if you want a baby shower this time then definitely go for it 😊 I'm having one yes, More my mum and sisters idea to do me one but I'm looking forward to it.

I got my date for my 20 week scan today, it's on 3rd feb when I will be 20+2 😃

hjbows88 · 08/01/2020 18:36

@chocolate26 I have mine on the same date 😍

How’s everyone’s diet and exercise? My diet has been really good throughout as I was lucky not to get nausea meaning I didn’t go off fruit and veg like loads of women do. My exercise dropped off w cliff though, other than walking my dog. I’m just about getting my 10,000 steps a day in but that’s way less than I used to do and I’ve not been to the gym properly for months (was going a couple of time’s a week to do HIIT and Pilates before I got pregnant). Interested how others are getting on?!

AmyMaria2 · 08/01/2020 18:41

@Zoey92 I wouldn't worry you have lots of time, I only got so much so early as mothercares sales were so good, but I waited with clothes until I knew he was a boy! Much easier💙

@hjbows88 my diet and exercise has gone out the window🤣 eat whatever I like atm & only exercise I do is dog walking! Hoping I'll feel less lazy soon. X

MissisBee · 08/01/2020 18:41

My diet is atrocious 😂 although I finally feel like eating more normally in the past couple of weeks, so have actually been having some vegetables. Getting out for walks when I can, but tend not to be too long. Started back at my regular Pilates class last night, she had lots of pregnancy adaptations for me, so I had a much easier ride than the rest of the class!

hjbows88 · 08/01/2020 18:46

It’s so hard to get motivated isn’t it? I’m trying to make up for the lack of exercise with healthy eating but I’m definitely shoving more sugar down my gullet than usual!

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2020 19:00

@hjbows88 diet is ok on the whole could drink more water for sure !

I did run 3 times a week before and LOTS of walking. Really missing walking at the mo due to the darkness I walk to and from work but it's not that far don't get my 10000 most days and it bugs me can't wait for spring and I try to walk lots on the weekends x

hjbows88 · 08/01/2020 19:12

Yeah so true weather is awful most the time and dark so walking the dog feels like enough effort. Can’t get notochord to leave my nice warm house to drive to the gym!

APD1981 · 08/01/2020 19:29

I'm eating better now than I did in the first trimester. I craved so much carby junk then and felt nauseous whenever I was hungry. I am definitely still hungrier than normal now, but I don't feel sick with it. I'm still loving sugar (especially chewy sweets!) but eating more veg and fruit now. Meals are always healthy as I cook for DH too and he eats healthily, I just snack more now.

As for exercise, first trimester I kept up with pilates (most weeks) but felt too exhausted to swim and run like I was doing. I got myself a bargain maternity swimming costume in the MC sale a few weeks ago so I have started swimming a few times a week again now. I don't do as much or go as fast, though! I've read that the better your core muscles are, the more equipped you are for pushing in labour so that's helping motivation. Definitely not walki g as much or in the gym as much though. Feel fat and lazy quite a lot!

Also, to update, I've had no more bleeding since that little dribble last night. Have felt baby move a few times through the night and during today so I'm sure it was just to do with being so constipated! Phew!

hjbows88 · 08/01/2020 20:07

Pleased to hear that @APD1981, and so lovely you’re feeling movements!

I’m the same with swimming, only been a few times but I want to increase that and Pilates as I know it’s good for me/baby/labour. Need to remind myself of that and get out of the door!

Larrydavid · 08/01/2020 21:04

@Twittlebee good for you moving hospitals. I hope your pregnancy is a bit longer this time.

UKtoSK · 08/01/2020 21:30

@hjbows88 I was also going to the gym 3-5 times a week before but I was put on semi-bed rest in the first trimester due to a small SCH and haven’t been back since. I’ve been starting to walk more regularly now but the weather has been awful this week. Considering going back to the gym just to walk on the treadmill for the days that I can’t walk outside.
Diet has also been...awful. I used to eat pretty healthy before getting pregnant but food aversions put me off everything that wasn’t bread, potato and cheese. Now that I have a raging appetite I’m trying to eat at least one vegetable filled meal a day though. Still don’t want to eat most sugary things.

RPPs · 08/01/2020 21:50

@apd1981 I dont think I know what it feels like to be constipated but have you tried going on your tip toes whilst on the toilet? Or putting a small box/stool under your feet. I try that when Im straining and it works well.

So much to happening today. I've not felt as much movement today but trying not to worry. Ive done a few Pre natal work out classes and have found them great. More challenging than I expected. David Lloyd does it twice a week. You get to meet others pregnant women and some who've had their babies. I ask them all the questions Im worried about.
Im 18 weeks tomorrow and therefore the instructor wouldn't let me jog or lie on my back to do the work outs. So those going to the gym might be worthwhile asking the instructors.

Glad so many are having baby showers, for no other reason but its nice to get together with friends before your little interuptions appear. I'm not sure I'll have one.

I've bought nothing and dont intend to until totally necessary. My Sister has lots of things for me that she's been saving from her two and think I'll borrow. I dont want to chance fate and DH is the same.

We've been living in his brothers flat for 6 months while outlr house is being totally redecorated. There is dust everywhere and we wint get back in for another month so Im living out of a suitcase of clothes that dont fit. Which means I stay in comfy clothes. Ive not died my hair so Im covered in grey and Im traumatised about getting a bikini wax after a bad experience, so Im like a gorilla. Feeling very unattractive right now. Need to give myself a shake or my poor DH will be running for the hills.

APD1981 · 08/01/2020 21:56

@RPPs yes, have a small stool in the bathroom just for that. I have a bit of an irritable bowel so it's something I'm used to... But being pregnant makes it so much harder to deal with. I'm going to regularly take laxido, rather than just when I am constipated, to try and stop it happening again. I'm so very scared to go to the loo!

Sounds like you're having a bit of a tough time. Must be hard not being at home. I'd struggle with that as I need my own space. Hopefully you'll feel better when you can move back home x

RPPs · 08/01/2020 22:02

@APD1981 I really hope it works for you. I know it must be scary. I wonder would prunes help? Hot water first thing in the morning before you take anything else.

Pegase · 08/01/2020 22:17

I have barely exercised at all since becoming pg. So sick in 1st trimester but also have no energy left after work. Do want to do prenatal Pilates.

Does anyone else get hugely bloated feeling in the evenings? Feel like my bump expands but think it's my digestive system not my womb!

AmyMaria2 · 09/01/2020 02:21

@Pegase I used to get so bloated in the evenings, but for a few weeks now I think it's been all baby, much harder bigger bump. My midwife said baby has doubled in size in last 2-3 weeks so maybe that's why it's changed! x

I had a baby shower already, it wasn't really a baby shower tbh it was tied in with our gender reveal so I wouldn't have to do 2 separate things! Will have a little get together when baby's 6/8 weeks just to introduce properly to friends and family x

hjbows88 · 09/01/2020 08:11

Yes @AmyMaria2 I get massively bloated after I’ve eaten, something which I never got before pregnancy. First thing in the morning my bump is really very small but I look 6 months pregs by end of the day!!

chocolate26 · 09/01/2020 08:21

Same here with me! I definitely have a bump in the morning but it's no where near as big as it is in the evening 😃 I never used to bloat that much before being pregnant.

newbyxx · 09/01/2020 08:40

I'm the same, wake up with a bump but it like doubles during the day! I used my dremgeni pregnancy pillow for the first time last night and it was amazing! Best sleep I've had in weeks and didn't wake up on my back once. Really recommend.
I've been so lazy since becoming pregnant, I was to go the gym 3-5 days a week and now all I do is dog walk. Which I'm actually ok with as I'm
Enjoying having not such a strict routine. My diet has improved the last few weeks as my food aversions are disappearing, but that could stand veg. Have my 20 week scan on the 21st, can't wait! Still haven't felt movements x

I have also been having a lot of bloating, especially later in the day, but I deal with bloating fairly often anyway due to IBS. But as of a couple of weeks ago it doesn’t go away completely overnight anymore. Also this week my still small bump has become more...pointy? And I can tell my uterus has grown because I can now see it when I lie flat on my back so bloat or no bloat I’m taking it as real a bump starting now. (15+5)
