@RPPS I had that on Thursday, luckily cervix was long enough so no intervention needed. Baby was feet down. Cute to see her little feet, I was just staring at them the whole time 😍

RPPs · 06/01/2020 21:52

@Smiffette great news. Have they released you back to your midwife? I have been but was happy with the peace of mind of the consultancy lead care.

MissisBee · 06/01/2020 22:12

I've got my 16 week appointment tomorrow. Noticing movement a bit more often the past few days too. A little bit of wiggling going on now. DS was a really active bump and had hiccups a lot too, that was about the only thing I enjoyed about being pregnant before.
I think matb1 can only be issued after 20 weeks.

Smiffette · 07/01/2020 09:04

@RPPs yes released back to midwife now.
Have you got to stay consultant led?

Twittlebee · 07/01/2020 09:34

That's interesting about being released back to the MW @Smiffette I've got my first cervical scan on the 16th Jan and already have the 2nd one booked in too for 4 weeks after that one. So did they only do 1 with you and see all was okay and decided a 2nd wont be needed? I've been told I'll have them till 24 weeks pregnant and then after that I'll be having swabs to test for labour signs and growth scans.

Had a bit of a scare this morning (warning TMI ahead) thought my waters had gone as I was walking down the stairs! Rushed to the loo to discover it was just a load of discharge thankfully!

Smiffette · 07/01/2020 09:50

@Twittlebee yes they measured my cervix and it was fine so they said I didn't need another scan, if it had been under 3cm's I think I would have had to have a second scan and if it was really short I would have had to have a stitch.

MsMiaWallace · 07/01/2020 10:05

Did anyone find their 16 wk midwife appointment a bit rushed?

Twittlebee · 07/01/2020 10:35

So they reckon it wont shorten later on until you're term now @Smiffette ? Apologies, just wanting to be prepared for mine and confused why I'm needing 3 scans if the first scan might be all okay! Hoping I dont need a stitch, freaks me out thinking about it

A lot of places dont even do 16 week appointments anymore and most commonly in subsequent pregnancies you dont get one @MsMiaWallace so I think its literally meant to just be a check in

Gigitree · 07/01/2020 10:35

@MsMiaWallace yeah I found it a bit rushed. Like it was a tick box exercise that my MW just wanted to get through as quick as possible. Don’t get me wrong she was lovely but it just felt like she was trying to get me in and out as quick as possible.

Smiffette · 07/01/2020 10:40

@Twittlebee no they don't expect it to, mine measured 3.53cms which is in the normal range for a pregnant person.

If I remember correct, he said if it was below 3cms I would need a re scan, if it was significantly below 3cms I would need the stitch which would then be removed a few weeks before due date!

Be interesting to know what your first scan measures as...

MrssC92 · 07/01/2020 10:41

Mine wasn't rushed but it didn't take long. She tested my urine sample, answered a couple of questions and we listened to the heart beat. If everything looks ok, bloods and urine ok then i guess at this stage they dont have much to say.
I asked about the mat1b form and she's left it in my Drs reception. I think it's a form we fill out and send off for. She didn't say anything about having to wait until 26 weeks

umabb · 07/01/2020 12:40

@Smiffette sorry just curious about the cervical scan - does everyone get that as part of the regular scans? I have no idea how long mine is! Crown Hmm

umabb · 07/01/2020 12:42

I just called to try to book my 20wks scan but I was told that it'd be auto booked and will mail me. Have my 16wk MW apointment on Friday hopefully will get to hear baby's heartbeats ! Crown Grin

17+2 today

hjbows88 · 07/01/2020 12:47

I think cervical scan is only for people with particular conditions or Medical histories - I’ve not been offered one.

My 16 week app went well today, asked loads of questions, got my prescription and treatment exemption form and listened to the heartbeat which was 150bpm and sounded lovely 😍

Twittlebee · 07/01/2020 13:28

Yeah cervical scans just for those who have history or conditions. I'm getting them because of pre term labours which appears to always include a rather dramatic burst of my waters everywhere which is apparently a classic sign of cervical incompetence - although weirdly my Dr isnt convinced that's what is going on.

I'm interested too, @Smiffette , I know it measured normal during my last pre term labour though, I was labouring at 28 weeks but they said my cervix was the normal length they'd expect! So who knows!

Craving curry like mad so treating myself to one this lunch! Couldn't stand them in last three pregnancies!

Smiffette · 07/01/2020 13:32

@Twittlebee mmm interesting then! 🤔

I just can't get enough of toast! 😂 just smelt it in the work kitchen and despite having a healthy lunch (doing my best to eat super healthy) I just feel like I could eat a loaf of whole meal toast 🙈

AmyMaria2 · 07/01/2020 16:19

@umabb I rang to try & book my 20 week scan and was told the same thing that it will be automatically booked an sent to me although getting a little impatient as I'm 19wks tomorrow! might try calling back and being a little more pushy for it x

umabb · 07/01/2020 18:22

@AmyMaria2 I told them I'm 17wk plus and they said too early for me to receive the letter yet.. hopefully you'll get yours soon x

Busylizzie85 · 07/01/2020 19:15

It’s annoying how different hospitals operate In different ways! I received my 20week scan appointment the same day as my 12week scan in Portsmouth which was great way of doing things I thought.

newbyxx · 07/01/2020 20:09

Yeah they seem to do it so differently at different hospitals, I also received my 20 week scan straight after my 12 week and I've already got my 27 and 36 week growth scans booked x

Larrydavid · 07/01/2020 20:13

@Smiffette @Twittlebee I've got my cervical scan on Friday. Have been really worried about it. Did you both have abnormal smear tests in the past? (That's why I've been referred). Also, I'm assuming I don't need to drink any water before this scan? Hope you both get the all clear!

Amylou12 · 07/01/2020 20:20

Hi, I'm 33, and 17 weeks. It's my first baby and I'm due June 15th. We plan to find out the gender.Grin

Twittlebee · 07/01/2020 20:59

Mine is for previous preterm labour @Larrydavid - they want to see if my cervix is ripening for labour early or if I have cervical incompetence which then causes my body to labour early - bit chicken and egg I think.

Yeah it is weird how different places are! I've got all my scan and appointments booked till 39 weeks including provisional section date already

RPPs · 07/01/2020 21:03

@Smiffette Yes i measured 46mm so they've released me back which Im a little disappointed with. Its nice to know you have that added layer of expert care.

@Larrydavid I had a loop procedure after finding CIN 1,2&3. 2 years ago. They had to remove a large area of my cervix but I have above average remaining so no need for futher treatment. I imagine it would have been a stitch, which can't be pleasant but my Sister's friend lost her baby at 20 wks because they were unaware that her cervix was too short to hold the baby in. Best that you get the appropriate treatment, then there's no worrying. I think you're lucky to have consultancy lead care.

Does anyone have a fury belly?

umabb · 07/01/2020 21:55

Hey ladies, curious how's the baby's movements that you feel, are they quite regular everyday?Yesterday I felt a lot in the morning and afternoon too but today he's very very quiet. I looked at a lot of posts online (Chinese and English forums) and it seems to be normal for this stage (I'm 17+2) but just wondering if you had the same..
Confused
