A shiny new thread for our May mum's.

A big thank you to @Shak19 for setting up the original thread, you started this group and we are all so grateful for that.

Here we go, month three in the pregnancy journey 👣

Hey gang! Followed you all over! I wish I had a clearer idea of my dates, so annoying! Midwife couldnt fit me in til the 16th of October for booking appt, I think work will be suspicious when im gone for over an hour. May have to tell them sooner than planned. Anyone else anxious about telling work? Dunno why I get so worked up about, theres nothing they can do about it haha x

Wishful30 · 03/10/2019 12:48

@Clairesoph started a new job in June, so yeah, and I'm a vet nurse, fortunately based out on reception most of the time so I'm putting it off as long as possible.

@Mystie that's so annoying!

Clairesoph · 03/10/2019 12:52

@Wishful30 oh really!? Eeeek! Im sure theyll be pleased for you! Atleast when you get massive and cant physically move anymore youll be able to take it slightly easier on reception! I work in childcare so my boss probs just sees ££££ hahaha! Just feel a bit embarrassed (which is so wrong) because I only came back from mat leave 6 months ago. Just dont wanna face people judgements and opinions 😭

woollycat · 03/10/2019 12:53

@Clairesoph yep, I wasn't sure about telling my manager but had to this Monday because morning sickness is real bad and I had to take the week off. I feel better now that I have told him as he's supportive and knows I am not just being lazy.

Hollyjeanh · 03/10/2019 13:07

I had to tell my boss straight away as I work with adults with cerebral palsy and it’s a lot of manual work! I’m already struggling as I don’t want to over exert myself. If only maternity leave started straight away with full pay for at least two years Grin

Sunshine8888 · 03/10/2019 13:22

Ohh wouldn’t that be fab! I haven’t told a soul at work. Don’t think my boss has a clue to be honest!! I was also able to honestly tell the ladies I work with that I have low blood pressure which explains the increased fluid take, increased trips to the ladies to wee, tiredness and dizziness. I can’t wait to tell them though and see if they suspected anything! Hopefully I’ll be able to in 2.5 weeks 🤞🏻 Although I haven’t fully decided at what point to tell work 🤔 I am getting quite a bump already though so not sure how long I can hide it - I’ve always been slim so it’s pretty obvious 🙈

Sunshine8888 · 03/10/2019 13:23

Ps. For the first time in weeks I’m managing to eat salad! Thank god I thought I was destined to be addicted to carbs and junk food forever 😬

Helensss · 03/10/2019 13:35

I told my boss as she knew my history with the mc and she’s super lovely,
I also didn’t want her to think I was taking the p* with appointments and I’m definitely not on form! Anyone else completely shattered in the afternoon? I’ve got clients coming in for meetings soon and I just want to lie on the floor and nap 😂

Sunshine8888 · 03/10/2019 13:55

Yes @helensss I’m a lawyer so have clients a lot, I’m the same - tired and also have a huge bump after eating lunch ! I’m trying to book mine in during the mornings where I can!

KerryM1983 · 03/10/2019 14:27

@ChampooPapi yes it's been a long time coming (4 years) so it's definitely an anxiety filled time.

@Shak19 I've felt exactly the same and I haven't been able to work at all. I just want to enjoy it without feeling poorly.

Helensss · 03/10/2019 14:38

@Sunshine8888 Yes I think I’ll try book mornings now! I am finding I’m undoing my top button on trousers after lunch! How far are you? I’m 8wk6

facevalue · 03/10/2019 15:03

@KerryM1983 when i had my scan yesterday they said i'm 7+4 and i asked about the pessaries because i was gonna run out in a week. nurse said NOOOOO must continue until the 12 weeks scan 🙄 and gave me another prescription 😭😭😭😭 i hate them. now i did an online self referral to maternity over 2 weeks ago and heard nothing so i did it again 3 days ago and i still heard nothing! they said midwife normally sees you between 9-10 weeks ? but i guess it's different all over. i'm in london. not sure what more to do .. i was hoping they could at least send me a confirmation text or email or letter - anything

facevalue · 03/10/2019 15:07

@Sunshine8888 hehe .. i think you should check your contract because there is usually a requirement to tell your manager formally at 20 weeks or 20 weeks before due date ( can't remember exactly) just look it up to be sure they pay you mat leave.

facevalue · 03/10/2019 15:10

@Helensss @Sunshine8888 interesting! i find i'm nauseous more in the morning then by midday i'm so sleepy and fatigued i can't even do the laundry or prepare dinner ...

if i can i would sleep all day and night

facevalue · 03/10/2019 15:11

@Mystie that's so tough I HATE WAITING AND THE UNKNOWN... hang in there xxx

Shelbustotherescue · 03/10/2019 15:24

@facevalue I feel your pain - I cannot physically find the strength to fold the washing at the moment - if I could go to bed at 7pm, I would !

Sunshine8888 · 03/10/2019 15:25

@Helensss - I am 9+4 so just a few days ahead!

@facevalue ha I will check, not that they pay anything above the minimum anyway! Benefits are absolutely shocking for a law firm

Moonstone12 · 03/10/2019 16:05

@Sunshine8888

When should I tell my employer I'm pregnant? You must tell your employer you're pregnant by the 15th week before your baby is due. This is called the notification week. You can work this out by going to the Sunday before your due date and counting back another 15 weeks.

That's when you must tell your employer however telling them earlier means risk assessments can be done. Especially important if you're in a job with any manual handling etc xx

Moonstone12 · 03/10/2019 16:07

@Sunshine8888 www.babycentre.co.uk/a454/telling-your-employer-youre-pregnant

This explains everything for you :) xx

Moonstone12 · 03/10/2019 16:07

In other news I have eaten corned beef sandwiches and the world is right again :)

facevalue · 03/10/2019 16:50

@Sunshine8888 i didn't realise until my friend who is a lawyer struggles to return from her mat leave with her employer because she could not find childcare and they were pushing her to work from home until she finds nursery or nanny. she told them i won't be "working" if i'm looking after a 1 year old and she felt she would be at risk of litigations if anything went wrong or she couldn't do her job properly so sadly she had to resign ..

i was horrified 😳

facevalue · 03/10/2019 16:53

so taking to my MIL. and she mentions home made lasagne and now i'm sooooo hungry and i want a yummy fatty cheesy one.. i found a pizza in freezer but it says not suitable for freezing !

so first risk taken i am planning to still eat it 🙄 yay or nay

Sunshine8888 · 03/10/2019 16:55

Yum I could eat lasagne right now

Thanks for the info re work ladies!

zoemelb · 03/10/2019 17:37

@facevalue haha I've been sleeping with my laundry on the bed this afternoon. Told husband to leave them there, I will fold them, but yeah it hasn't happened yet.

Does anyone doesn't have much vomit, or nausea just lots of bloat, soar back and tiredness. My bloat is so bad that my whole stomach aches, and every position is uncomfortable. I just invested in the pregnancy pillow, and been using it for an hour, it feels good. Hopefully can help my lower back. :-( I'm 8+2, so was hoping will be less bloating.

Wishful30 · 03/10/2019 17:50

Ok, so my bloods from Monday are 'normal' and my pregnancy hormones bloods are 'normal' whatever that means 🤷🏻‍♀️
So I asked her for the number and she said 6.9 I feel that quite low 😑
So now I gotta wait till the morning for the verdict 🤦🏻‍♀️
But dr google says this....
