tried the nipple stimulation but just felt stupid. haven't tried the aromatherapy yet but willing to give it a go.

bananabump · 07/08/2007 09:39

God, nipple stimulation is the worst. I think I'd rather eat ten pineapples than sit there twiddling for an hour again. Dp didn't seem to mind though!

Babymad, just how much lavender did you put in there??? lol My 6 drops did nothing... As for sex, I have now been informed that a) the bump is offputting and awkward, b) I'm only doing it to get the baby out and that's offputting too and c) what if the waters pop when he's "busy" LOL

May have to give up on that one, then!

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 09:40

I know what you mean about feeling weird doing it but try the bath with oils and do it whilst in there perhaps, then you can do one side at a time absent mindedly whilst reading a book perhaps ! How do you feel about the reflexology and accupuncture ?

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 09:42

God Banana my DH would be in SO much trouble for saying that !! I mean fgs, I know I'm not exactly the most desirable creature on God's earth at the moment but considering everything I've got to go through the least he could do is put a brave face on, stop bloody moaning and get on with it !! It's still sex after all !! think it's time you suggested that it'd be a very rare commodity once you have had the baby if he doesn't...

OP posts:
BabyMadandBIGbump · 07/08/2007 09:46

5/7 good splash's of oil

bananabump · 07/08/2007 09:48

hehe, well it's not as if I'm exactly very mobile at the moment with the spd and the enormous (and now strangely pointy) bump so I can't blame him for feeling like that, reeeally. He didn't exactly appreciate my joke that the baby was down so low he might poke it in the eye either

Fiddlesticks.

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 09:50

Oooh Banana - think you're right, that might not have been the most enticing way of putting things !!! Lol

Congratulations Babymad!
any thoughts on names yet?

(am really liking all these quick easy birth stories - hope Annie's managed to have one too...)

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 10:02

It's great isn't it MrsB hearing such positive stories. Big fingers crossed for Annie as you say, she's our first breach delivery I think isn't she ?

growingbagpuss · 07/08/2007 10:07

Well done BabyMad!! Hurrah!!I plan to join you onthe no pain releif thing - coz G&A freaks me out, and I don't want pethidine....

9lb 1oz -excellent - our biggest so far.. thats a nice big chunky babe you have there. (little babes are lovely too....)

Just been on phone to Mum...again... we started off well -not talking about babies... but lo and behold... her birth stories are marvellous....she says she thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.... she's either really wierd or had epidurals!!

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 10:08

Hahahah I believe it's called 'Trauma Memory' Bagpuss...
ie: you don't remember !!

boobooma · 07/08/2007 10:25

Congratulations babymad and treacle, its fab hearing your stories so soon.

Update on the birth pool, now have fully functioning pool taking up most of the living room, its huge. Currently filling it with water, so I can wallow and DS can have a splash around later.

Am really hoping to get to use it this time as with ds was in hosp and monitored so no go.

Good luck all those with imminent popping, contractions etc.

growingbagpuss · 07/08/2007 10:47

Ooooh just looked at the stats - all these suprise Girls are evening up the numbers a little - marvellous!

Flip.... still 6th in the queue though.. get on with it ladies, don't want to be too rude, but there are others waiting too!!

bananabump · 07/08/2007 11:22

Who is Annie75's text buddy if she has one? I'm dying to hear how she got on!

Just had another stronger lavender bath after babymad said it set her off, but again, contractions have stalled! At least I know what to do if it all gets fast and furious and I need to slow it down! lol

stretchmarks · 07/08/2007 11:32

Congratulations babymad another great birth we seem to be a lucky bunch so far in August here's hoping it lasts.

Banana if it's any consolation I am having the same stop start contractions as you seem to be and I had a relatively easy labour with DS1 - so I am hoping my body is doing alot of the early work again now.

Just had another bath with the oils was a bit more liberal with the drops this time following Babymad.

bananabump · 07/08/2007 11:36

lol at us all playing follow my leader, trying what what worked for everyone else! Now I have images of about ten pg women sitting at home simultaneously necking raspberry leaf tea tablets, drowning in lavender oil whilst bouncing on gym balls...

Thanks for your words of support though stretchmarks, I hope it means it won't take long once I'm finally there! I'm bored of it all now though, I think I'll go back to watching trash tv and forget about the baby for a while.

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 11:52

And I've just booked a reflexology appt for tomorrow....

itchyncsratchy · 07/08/2007 12:03

hiya everyone,

congratulations babymad, another suprise girl. is dh thrilled? do you have a name yet? are you feeling ok? that's a huge baby to have at home without pain relief. was it your choice not to have any or did the G&A not arrive?
sorry lots of questions! looking forward to the photos

treacletart- what gorgeous photos, you look wonderful, how's Imogen doing?

bananabump - it must be happening soon for you, sorry for the off n on contractions, must be driving you mad

I'm only 37+4 but I can't stand it anymore!!

itchyncsratchy · 07/08/2007 12:06

and I'm re-packing the hospital bag, but please remind me..

do I need to take babygros/ vests/ nappies/ cotton wool or do hospital provide?

what is everyone planning to wear during labour?

MrsBadger · 07/08/2007 12:08

depends on your hospital - I am taking all of the above as mine are stingy.

and I have a fairly revolting size 16 button-through cotton nightshirt (£3 Primark) for labour, which I don't mind binning if it gets messy.
Then nice nursing nighties from Next for afterwards.

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 12:09

Ask your midwife for advice Itchy but if I were you I'd take them all. I even have to take my own pillows

OP posts:
growingbagpuss · 07/08/2007 12:12

Itchy - I think the general consensus is that whilst the hospital MIGHT provide (mine doesn't) stuff - it will have been industrially washed -so will be stiff and scratchy.... I'd say take your own! Also means your LO will get your own smell on her/him (?) as soon as possible... anyway - you've done this before!! Is it really such a dim and distant memory?

Just had a lovely call from my manager to say hello, caught up on all the gossip etc which was really nice. She said they're all asking after me, which is sweet. When I was on mat leave for DS, no-one called at all.

..also frantically cleaning the kitchen.. is this a good sign? DH still thinks he is going to Scotland on Thursday.... who is he trying to kid?!!

bambi06 · 07/08/2007 12:15

im due tomorrow..third one! and my other two were late ..has anyone used reflexology .acupuncture? how long did it take to work..did you have to have more than one session? any info please as im booked for a home birth and there supposedly is a cut off point at which they refuse and ill have to go into hospital which is th elast thing i want as this is def my last baby !!

tokentotty · 07/08/2007 12:16

I can only promise to let you know Bambi !!

OP posts:
itchyncsratchy · 07/08/2007 12:24

thanks, yes probably best to take our own. definitely want lo in soft clothes.
but it is such a distant memory, ds is 15 now! I really can't remember worrying about much, I think I let my mum do the panicking and organising first time around.

I'd love to know how annie is doing, if she's managed a natural delivery, if baby stayed breech.

TT- are you feeling enormous and uncomfortable because of extra fluid? this is really my problem, i don't look any smaller than the photo of the woman expecting triplets and the bump is all over stretched. even sitting up belly digs into thighs
