Did anyone struggle with the heat this weekend? I know it was only 23-24 (down south(ish)) but I definitely found it more uncomfortable than I ordinarily would - particularly in the in-laws’ garden which is a sun trap. Usually love the heat but am now slightly concerned if we have a hot summer 🥵! Will just have to lie in DD’s paddling pool like a beached whale...

easterbuns1 · 23/04/2019 09:44

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri we were at a family bbq on Saturday and I had to keep going inside into the shade and was sitting with a fan. I'm normally a complete sun worshiper and never ever complain about the heat. My ds was a September baby and I can't remember being that uncomfortable temp wise with him but I did have spd so spent later months of that pregnancy laid up in the house.

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri yes! 🥵 Did a fair bit of gardening but could only do 10 minutes at a time, before having to go live down in the house - felt really useless. Can only imagine what it's going to be like further along from now - dreaming of a cool summer 🤞

Fortheloveofscience · 23/04/2019 09:49

Thanks for the new thread!

Yes, I definitely over-did it gardening in the sun this weekend. I’m really struggling to tell where my limits are at the moment because I’m already doing ‘less’ than I would normally but it still seems too much. Feel ok at the time then crash afterwards.

Dipsy77 · 23/04/2019 09:51

Thread 6 already Smile

Megan2018 · 23/04/2019 10:00

Thanks for the new thread!
I’ve been fine with the heat-even rode out in it at the hottest point. No ill effects! I have been drinking lots of alcohol free ice cold lager and cider though.
Scan is tomorrow afternoon, nerves very much jangling.

Stroan · 23/04/2019 10:04

Thanks for the new thread!

@knobjockey to answer your question about finding out the sex, our hospital don't tell you. I don't think we want to find out but can always have a private scan if we change our mind.

Stroan · 23/04/2019 10:06

Found the heat a bit tough at times, fine to sit in the garden bit awful if I actually had to do anything or wear proper clothes!

I sat in the garden with my feet in a bucket of cold water, which was lush!

TwittleBee · 23/04/2019 10:27

Thank you for setting up thread #6! Was thinking we were getting full!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri I didn't find it too bad actually, apart from certainly needing to drink a stupid amount constantly and finding I was sick a bit more due to the heat. Dreading getting bigger though, distinctly remember just how swollen and sweaty I got with DS.

Braxton Hicks are really ramping up now though! They catch me off guard so much already. And been having awful ligament pain on my right all morning, bleurgh.

Does anyone else who is having their 2nd or more, find that they feel more uncertain regarding labour this time? With DS everyone told me to expect to go over due date so I was expecting anytime between a 2 week (40 to 42 weeks) and I was naively expecting labour to go as my hypnobirthing course told me it would. But as labour started up at 36+5 and birth certainly went off plan so now I havent a clue what to expect

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/04/2019 10:40

I feel certain i will go into labour on my own between 38 and 40 weeks as i have done four times. I would be shocked to go early but am aware it could happen

jazzyjellybeans · 23/04/2019 10:44

Placemarking! I haven't posted much but love reading all the chat. Patiently waiting for my 20 week scan next week.... I feel great. Don't feel pregnant which is worrying

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 23/04/2019 10:53

@TwittleBee re labour, I’m not thinking about it really yet. First time round, I did loads of hypnobirthing, which was lovely and definitely helped me relax pre-birth, but I ended up with fast induction and forceps which was definitely not the zen waterbirth experience I had hoped for. I just think what will be, will be. I think it is helping me having experienced it once before and so knowing roughly what to expect in terms of care during labour, postnatal recovery (was totally in the dark on this one pre-DD!) and staying in hospital with a newborn if necessary again

DancingUnicorn1 · 23/04/2019 11:06

I think I'm living in denial about labour. Baby has to come out one way or the other so I'm just refusing to think about it!

Maybe I'll feel differently once I actually have a bump!

TwittleBee · 23/04/2019 11:11

ah that is true BridgetJonesDaiquiri post birth are aspects I know what to expect now at least; last time I naively assumed I would be home same day so didn't pack nearly enough! And I was surprised at how post birth wasn't that bad, even with sepsis.

DancingUnicorn1 maybe as it nears you'll think about it more, especially when packing your bags I imagine!

IVEgottheDECAF FX you have another in that 2 week window again!

Think I will just be prepped from 35 weeks onwards in case this one arrives earlier than DS.

Stroan · 23/04/2019 11:18

I'm having an ELCS so mostly parking any thoughts about delivery. I have questions around things like recovery and dates, but I feel a bit less panicked knowing that most things will largely be taken out of my hands. I found the waiting and not knowing to be quite difficult last time.

I'm hoping to get rough confirmation of dates soon so that I can arrange mat leave

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/04/2019 11:22

My one concern is going into labour at home, during school holidays, with 4 dc in the house and everyone being at work and then having a really fast labour at home especially as i am high risk for PPH......

db92 · 23/04/2019 12:01

I struggled with the heat but all my own fault. Under estimated just how unfit I've become since falling pregnant and tried to do too much. The heat also resulted in a mini meltdown when nothing fit yesterday!

Megan2018 · 23/04/2019 12:05

Just had an almighty row at the GP’s. Went in for flu jab which they booked, only for them to refuse to do it as not had scan. Completely wasted my morning. They knew scan was tomorrow. Utterly useless and I told them that. Arrggghhh Angry

IVEgottheDECAF · 23/04/2019 12:18

Why wouldnt they do it because you hadnt had scan? Makes no sense.
