Congrats on all positive scans today😊

Been invited to a wedding on the 7th of sept (10 days before my due date) Which is OK however, the wedding is also approx 6 hours from home! Does anyone have any advice? Just worried as it's so close to due date..

Cheekychimp1 · 09/02/2019 17:34

@porge123 I’ve also been invited to hen in sept. I can’t go as due 4th sept but can’t tell the real reason until 2weeks so I’m jut stalling at mo. In terms of wedding I’d like to go but obviously plan to be breast feeeding etc. I’d like to go for an hour in evening if I could. It’s so hard isn’t it! Not being able to tell the truth.

hodgeheg92 · 09/02/2019 17:59

Thank you Daisy and Karigan, reassuring to know I'm not the only one/they're normal and thank you for the link.

@porge123 I probably wouldn't want to be that far from home, we spent Christmas without seeing most of my family (3hrs away) when I was 37 weeks with DD. My parents came down but I didn't want to be that far away. Although saying that we have a holiday booked for when I'll be 36 weeks this time and we'll be 3 hours away then :/ Can't cancel though and my parents have paid for it (they're coming too)

Fortheloveofscience · 09/02/2019 18:00

The only weird thing from my scan today is that the report said ‘no ovaries visible’. Since I’m pregnant I’m pretty sure I have at least one, is not being able to see them normal?! Sonographer mentioned that she could see the blood vessel, not that she couldn’t see the actual thing and didn’t seem at all concerned.

LaBelleSausage · 09/02/2019 19:04

@Fortheloveofscience I wouldn’t worry about that, I think sometimes they end up tucked behind your womb so they aren’t visible. They couldn’t see my left one today but could see the right

Cheekychimp1 · 10/02/2019 07:01

Sorry for tmi but I had to go to the loo four times overnight for a wee! Hmm up and down like a bloody yoyo. Also I really need to start on pelvic floor exercises!

LaBelleSausage · 10/02/2019 08:05

Has anyone with an early scan (6-8 weeks) tried the ramzi theory to work out if they have a boy or girl?
I have no idea how accurate it’s supoosed to be but the egg sac was on the righ of my abdominal scan, and it looks like the placenta is forming there, so I think by that logic we have a girl on the way

Mirardosa · 10/02/2019 09:19

Wow so many scans yesterday! Lovely to hear they are all so positive! Mine also went well, it's our first and I was so taken aback actually seeing the baby! I tried to hold DH's hand but he was sat frozen in shock, he said after that he didn't even realise I was trying to grab him 😂

Has anyone had the flu jab or planning to get it? It was a month wait at my GP and all local pharmacies are out of stock. I could get it done at the hospital, but I'm wondering if it's worth it at this point of the year? Also, midwife at booking in advised me to get it, but in the NHS leaflet it says to get it from 16 weeks..

Hsunshine · 10/02/2019 09:22

@mirardosa my midwife told me to book it too. I booked for when I was just over 12 but maybe I should wait?

DustyDoorframes · 10/02/2019 09:35

@Mirardosa I had my booking in appointment weirdly early, and my midwife was very emphatic about getting the flu jab as soon as possible, so I had it at 5+3! My GP had plenty, but the midwife said to ring the hospital ASAP if they hadn't. One of the many things which sounds like different advice in different places...

Whisky2014 · 10/02/2019 09:36

I have a pounding headache. Is it just one paracetamol I can take or 2?

Karigan195 · 10/02/2019 09:57

My midwife also said I should get it ASAP. The leaflet said anytime that I got.

Fortheloveofscience · 10/02/2019 10:05

@Mirardosa I had my flu jab at 6+4, DH works with flu patients so I booked it in with the GP straight away.

I had zero side effects other than 24 hours of the injection site being sore when I poked it, so can’t see a down side to getting it done, Feb is still peak flu season.

Are you sure the NHS leaflet says 16w+ for flu? I know that’s the guideline for whooping cough but it would be a weird thing for them to print for flu when it’s safe at any time during pregnancy. If it does then I’d consider flagging with someone because it sounds like a typo!

@LaBelleSausage thank you! That is reassuring, I’m sure they’re in there somewhere.

Easterbuns1 · 10/02/2019 10:08

@Mirardosa I had my flu jab last week as my mw also said to book appointment straight away.

@Whisky2014 therapeutic dose is 1g so two tablets, 4 hourly but no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.

LaBelleSausage · 10/02/2019 10:13

I had my flu jab in October, so guess I’d still be covered now as it was only a few months ago. Probably no harm in having it again though so I’ll ask the midwife on Friday

Mirardosa · 10/02/2019 10:21

Thanks all, I'll get it ASAP. @Fortheloveofscience yes you're right, I just read the leaflet again and it says any time from conception, I was thinking of whooping cough.

Whisky2014 · 10/02/2019 10:41

Thanks easter. I only took 1 and it did nothing. I'll take another

Parent19876 · 10/02/2019 11:29

Hi guys!
I'm about 9+2 (based on last period)! Super anxious as sickness seems to be going off and on. My booking appointment is this Thursday, so hopefully I'll get a date for my first scan soon. Fingers crossed!

Megan2018 · 10/02/2019 11:38

I had my flu jab at 7+1, midwife told me asap, I saw her at 6+1. There was plenty lically then but that was a couple of weeks ago.
Whooping cough at 20 wks and aspirin from 12wks is what I was told too.

Easterbuns1 · 10/02/2019 11:53

@LaBelleSausage flu jab is an annual thing so you won't need to have it again.

hodgeheg92 · 10/02/2019 11:56

I haven't even heard from a midwife yet, never mind had a flu jab. Got to go to the docs tomorrow to get booked in about the cyst so I might just refer again and hope she gets the form this time!

@whisky2014 Paracetamol can be taken as normal. Hope you're feeling better soon!

LaBelleSausage · 10/02/2019 11:56

Thanks @Easterbuns1

Karigan195 · 10/02/2019 13:28

Went for a slow walk up a very small mountain today. Going up felt a bit light headed, over heated and wanted to throw up. Can’t wait for this first trimester to be done.

LaBelleSausage · 10/02/2019 13:36

I’m seriously impressed @Karigan195
I’m on the sofa with a bucket and a blanket while DS naps upstairs. Feel seriously rough today! Are we supposed to feel better once the placenta takes over?
I’ve booked the next week of work off as holiday as I’m struggling to function

stroan · 10/02/2019 13:43

I was impressed with my slow walk from my bed to the sofa to be honest. Well done @karigan195

@labellesausage I’m not sure but if one more person says “oh, you’ll feel better after 12 weeks” I will scream. It’s up there with “have you tried ginger?” and “you should get some seasickness bands”.

At least the consultant didn’t get my hopes up, he estimated another 6-8 weeks of this.
