Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

@StargazyDrifter with my first I didn't feel anything til about 20 weeks ! I had an anterior placenta so maybe that's why. But it definitely starts off just now and then , so I wouldn't worry about counting them or not feeling them regularly right now.

Kentishgal · 24/01/2019 10:54

I really can't be bothered with work this week - feeling poorly hasn't helped but even so I'm just tired and can't seem to apply myself. Was there someone on here who was a bit of a baby carrier expert? Looking for some advice - my hospital say you can wear a kanga wrap into theatre so they can put baby on you when they're stitching you up. Do you have any views on the kanga wrap - I'm worried I'll tie it incorrectly and the baby will fall out!? And what do you think about the cheaper alternatives on Amazon etc - they all just look like a big piece of material - is it worth just getting the actual kanga wrap instead?

RooKangaroo · 24/01/2019 11:08

Yes, @Kentishgal - @AnnaBegins is an expert on baby wraps and carriers. Haven't seen her post for a while. Hopefully she's along soon.

Second 12 week scan today. This time baby cooperated (well more than last time...) and sonographer was able to get one measurement she could use for the downs screening. Hoorah!

Have 20 week booked. Yippee

Also asked the earliest we could find out the sex. She said 20 weeks. Apparently they’re phasing out private scans here as they see a lot of people sadly finding out the sex at around 14/16 weeks and then going to the mainland uk for abortions. I didn’t know people did that based on sex.

She also said that one place over here that does it is currently embroiled in a legal battle because they said a baby was one sex, the parents planned around it and then at the birth found out it was the other. Disappointment ensued apparently....

StargazyDrifter · 24/01/2019 11:23

Thanks Chinks! I will remain vigilant. Not sure I like the sound of the roly polies...

Kentishgal · 24/01/2019 11:55

Thanks rookangaroo - good memory! That's good news ememem84 - glad it went well.

Chinks123 · 24/01/2019 12:59

@StargazyDrifter haha it’s a bit like the feeling of being on a rollercoaster, when your belly flips. Grin It’s lovely I promise!

Trying2bemum · 24/01/2019 13:36

Reading this talk of feeling movements is making me so excited. Am 14+1 today and still don't feel like I have a proper bump - getting impatient! My tummy is more rounded, but when I lie on my back its still flat.

Trying2bemum · 24/01/2019 13:38

Does anyone else struggle with sleep? I don't sleep beyond 4am still - its like my body has a new alarm clock. I have to get up for a wee and then I toss and turn. I also still have extreme and vivid dreams - last night I dream I woke up and there was blood all over the bed sheet :( It took me a while to really realise it was a dream.

Chinks123 · 24/01/2019 13:43

@Trying2bemum I’m not struggling to sleep as I’m constantly tired, but I have had a few horrible dreams like yours. Last night I dreamt I’d lost the baby and was so upset when I woke up. I normally think dreams are premonitions but I know this is just from worrying!

Yukka · 24/01/2019 13:46

Checking in on new thread.

@trying2bemum yep I’m the same. Sometimes I dose off again but usually just before the alarm.

Keep saying to dh @wheb does the glowing part start?!”

Trying2bemum · 24/01/2019 14:19

@chinks123 I think our brain plays through our worst fears! Almost like preparing for worst case scenario?

@yukka no sign of any glowing here

I'm just permanently exhausted! So useless at work right now

TwinkleDay · 24/01/2019 14:53

Hi all I started to feel movement at 14 weeks as placenta towards the back of me... little one was definitely moving today in a meeting at work was quite uncomfortable but cute... just started jumping up and down to get them to move it was like on my left side only! See bumpy photo 18 weeks today 🥰 am sat at my desk

Kentishgal · 24/01/2019 15:12

twinkleday you asked any of us that know the sex to post a scan pic - I would but I'm not having much luck doing so! Will keep trying! I haven't a clue how you'd even go about telling from a scan pic though!

Capybaras · 24/01/2019 15:39

That's exciting @TwinkleDay ! You've got such a nice bump already! Can't remember - is this your first?

I've been feeling lots of flutterings today - it's either the baby or I have some major wind issues Grinprobably the latter!

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/01/2019 15:42

I keep thinking I can feel flutters too but really not sure ! I'm only 14+3 but it's my 3rd baby so wondering if it'll happen sooner.

Tried calling the midwives this morning about the blood results/NT testing, left a message and still haven't heard back 🙄 shock.

I'm not struggling to sleep, I'm absolutely shattered most mornings are a struggle to get up, but if I have had a few vivid dreams too !

TwinkleDay · 24/01/2019 16:26

@Kentishgal aww yes that would be great, see if we can narrow down the features.

Yes first baby, I finally feel I look pregnant and not just fat... well I will see when I have the last load of my friends round for tea on Saturday lol... surprise !!

ReginaPhalange89 · 24/01/2019 16:44

Is anyone else peeing CONSTANTLY ?? Omg it's really starting to annoy me now, feel like I'm in the bathroom every half hour 🙈

BeckyButterfly · 24/01/2019 16:58

@Trying2bemum I wake up every morning at 5am now. I’m tired all day long but still wake up at 5am every morning!

I’m 14+1 today and haven’t felt a thing apart from UTI cramps. I can’t wait to start feeling movement. I’m hoping it’ll make me worry less about whether everything is alright in there or not. I have my midwife appointment next week and I’m really hoping she listens for a heartbeat. I just want a bit of reassurance as it seems such a long wait till my 20 week scan at the start of March.

Capybaras · 24/01/2019 17:12

@ReginaPhalange89 I've actually gone the other way and want to drink way less than I usually would so not weeing too much. Trying to make myself drink more though as I know it's important to be hydrated (my wee for the 12 week scan was so dark!)
Must be a right pita though - especially if it's waking you up at night!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 24/01/2019 17:30

@Giraffe888 I'm 17 weeks so still a few weeks off my NHS scan!

I'll be having a GTT too but waiting for my appointment so no idea when. I had one with DS too as my BMI is just on the boundary where they test so it's just standard. I actually didn't mind the sugary drink! It certainly wasn't as bad as waiting 2 hours while starving hungry.

I've entered the awful insomnia phase over the last couple of days and really struggled to function at work today. I met my new boss for the first time and was so tired I couldn't work out what he was asking me and I think he may be of the opinion that I'm a bit of an idiot Grin I'm so hopeful it ends soon but it went on for ages last time.
Lots of big kicks today though which has cheered me up (they started at about 15 weeks).

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 24/01/2019 18:28

Had my 16 week appointment today, heart the heart beat! Was really lovely.

Feeling really achy today though. Anyone else feeling lower back pain/ cramps?

Giraffe888 · 24/01/2019 18:32

Got my screening results. Downs 1 in 1200 and Edwards/Patau 1 in 50,000

Is the downs result ok? It says low on the letter x

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 24/01/2019 18:46

@Giraffe888 I spoke to my midwife today. Mine was 1 in 1800. She said most common results are between 500-4000. All which are low risk.

My results were affected by high PAPP-A (I think) and age etc.

Due to a family history. Which isn't taken into account for the test, I actually had the NIPT test because I was worried. Which came back as 1 in 50000. Though I think if I'd had the conversation with my midwife that I've had today, I would of been a lot less worried.

Giraffe888 · 24/01/2019 18:50

Thank you for that. To be honest I’m not worried. My result is apparently normal for a 25 yr old, I’m 32 so I’ll take that 😂
