Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

I'll be having the glucose test too, high risk and have PCOS. Hadn't really given it much thought until now but it's in my notes.

Jxtina86 · 23/01/2019 20:41

@StargazyDrifter me neither but I got my letter through today with the appointment and instructions on what to do beforehand (hello high carbs for 3 days...!) and what happens on the day.

TheScaredyKat · 23/01/2019 20:42

Just checking in, I've been awol for a while. Work is crazy at the moment but I've been keeping up mostly.

We are definitely thinking of washable nappies aswell. Do you just put them in the wash with the 'contents'Confusedstill inside or need to soak or something first?
Im sure there will be occasions when disposables will be more convenient. I bought a friend as part of her baby shower pressie the Kit and Kin ones with the cute animal faces on the bum. They are disposable but biodegradable but I'm not sure 100% of it degrades so probably still not great but better than the usual ones.

Beckanne90 · 23/01/2019 20:43

Checking in :)

Congrats on the low risks and congrats on the little girls how exciting.

@ReginaPhalange89, I had the bloods with my first; there was no other test available back then (not at my hospital trust anyway) as it was 11 years ago this year and it is said to not be as accurate and only gives results for downs. But it gave me a low risk result though so did the job.

I’ve had my 15-16 week appointment today with the midwife, healthy heart rate of 160 and all was ok, mentioned I’ve been very crampy and had a lot of pressure, because of my history she says I’ve to take it as easy as I possibly can (a lot easier said than done) and go straight to EPAU if they get any worse.

It’s my scan on Tuesday, I’m convinced this one’s another boy 😂

OneMoreWish · 23/01/2019 20:43

Hello

Team yellow here

I've got glucose test coming up as I had gestation diabetes during last pregnancy. Not looking forward to it, I feel really nauseous after having the drink last time ( probably because my body couldn't handle the sugar so maybe early sign I had it before hospital confirmed ?)

I'm just over 14 weeks and still so nervous hoping everything's ok.

I had lots of spotting in the first few weeks up to 8 weeks and I've not got over the anxiety. Also I've not had many symptoms which I think reassured me in first pregnancy .

Roll on 20 week scan

Capybaras · 23/01/2019 21:00

@Jxtina86 I sometimes work with GDM testing (not an expert though!) and the general risk factors are:

  • PCOS
  • family history of DM
  • previous macrosomic (big!) baby
  • BMI 30+
  • certain ethnic minorities

However anyone can get GDM so to look at it in a positive light at least if you do have it, it will be picked up for earlier and hopefully when t can be managed with diet/tablets rather than insulin.

OGTT still sucks though - fasting is pretty tough regardless let alone whilst pregnant!

SnailorSwift · 23/01/2019 21:02

@Jxtina86 I'm having a GTT too.

I had it last time too despite not having risk factors as my blood sugar was high in a routine blood test but when I had the GTT they found I was processing sugar normally.

If anyone had bothered to ask...I had scoffed a pain au chocolat AND a hot chocolate on the way to the appointment that the initial bloods were taken at which explained things 😂

This time I've been asked to take part in a study as DS1 was a big baby at 38 weeks. Not particularly looking forward to it as the glucose drink is disgusting 😩

Chinks123 · 23/01/2019 21:20

Congratulations everyone who’s found out the sex! It feels so far away for me, I think we’re going to go for a private scan at about 17 weeks, so a month to wait.
I never had a baby shower or any sort of gender reveal last time, so I’m going to do it this time. It won’t be a party, I’m thinking just close family and the balloon idea. Although I saw on Pinterest fireworks to reveal..If we had a big party I’d love to be that extra Grin

ReginaPhalange89 · 23/01/2019 21:23

Ugh I don't know what to do about this screening test now 🙈 I wasn't overly concerned but my OH is absolutely fuming and keeps going on at me to phone and demand they do the test (doesn't seem to understand it's too late to do the original testing)

Do you think there's a chance they do it if I mention that my dates were changed at the scan ? As going by my dates I'm not over the 14 week mark yet !

wombatron · 23/01/2019 21:34

Checking in also! Though I'm rubbish at keeping up at the mo!!

Capybaras · 23/01/2019 21:43

It's worth a try @ReginaPhalange89 all they can say is no, but if your dates say you're still under 14 weeks then definitely push for a retest!

Has anyone else felt anything yet? I'm only 16 weeks and this is my first but swear I just felt a full on kick! It must be far too early as most things say you'll only feel a fluttering at this early but it was a full on thump and no idea what else it would be unless it was the biggest pop of trapped wind ever!

Chinks123 · 23/01/2019 22:00

Nothing here yet @Capybaras but I’m only 13 weeks. I get a lot of popped trapped wind which does feel similar to kicks. I felt my first around 17 weeks so you’re not far off! My friend swore she felt kicks at 14 weeks, I didn’t dare disagree with her.

wombatron · 23/01/2019 22:21

Nothing here either @Capybaras but this is my first and my placenta is anterior so I will likely have to wait a bit longer than normal before I do. It's like this child is trying to spite me from the start Grin misbehaved in its 12 week scan also!

wombatron · 23/01/2019 22:22

Oops, am also 13 weeks so I think I may have another 7 weeks wait before I feel anything definitive 😭

Kentishgal · 23/01/2019 23:15

With my first I didn't feel anything for certain until at least 21 weeks (may have even been 22 or 23) but in hindsight I just think I wasn't recognising the sensation as being the baby. I actually thought I felt some very light movements today - but I'm only 15+1 so probably not - I think I read you can feel movement from 16 weeks onwardsbst the earliest so I'm probably just mistaking muscles twitching or something.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 24/01/2019 06:06

Checking in! 17+4 here. Norovirus in our house had us all wiped out for the last couple of weeks

We had a private gender scan last week and we're also having a girl - seems to be a lot of girls on this thread!

I've got my GTT booked for mid march - not looking forward to it, the fasting element is so hard, especially when I need to eat to stave off sickness

I've felt some small movements recently which I know is definitely baby as it's exactly the same as I had with DD. It's been quite reassuring to feel it this past week, it comes at least once a day

Hope everyone else is doing ok.x

BirthdayKake · 24/01/2019 06:32

Congratulations allthegoodnames! Another little girl!

Sometimes I think I can feel the baby but I also have an anterior placenta so it seems unlikely (15+3)

Squ1ggle · 24/01/2019 06:38

Ah I'm so impatient to know what I'm having. I don't mind either way I just want to know! Anomaly scan at 21 weeks for me.
With ds I was about 21 weeks before feeling movement but have definitely felt some in the last couple of days, I'm 17+1 now

HchyScott · 24/01/2019 06:49

@Capybaras I definitely felt something at 16 +3 not fluttering but felt like I had a tiny fish In my tummy flicking around, the only way I can describe it lol!!

Capybaras · 24/01/2019 07:16

Interesting to hear everyone's experiences of feeling the baby! I've been having a few flutters for the past few days, but last night definitely felt like a proper kick. Will just have to wait and see if it happens again! Hoping it will make the pregnancy feel a bit more real!

StargazyDrifter · 24/01/2019 08:28

My understanding is that an anterior placenta can shift position very quickly at this stage, so the kicks are still possible. I was told I had an anterior placenta at my 12 week scan, but by 14 weeks (NIPT scan) it had shifted backwards again.

I'm 16+3 and had been meaning to google mild cramps/pulling in the tummy, feels like when you're nervous before something big... now wondering if that's in fact what is called 'quickening'. Helpful to see others' experiences.

StargazyDrifter · 24/01/2019 08:37

To mummies who've been there before - how often did you feel baby activity at the very early stages, like 16 weeks etc? Several hours a day, or more like half an hour a day?

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 24/01/2019 09:03

Wow I'm amazed that some of you are feeling baby move! That's so exciting!!! I can't wait. In 16+2 but really don't know what I'm expecting to feel to be honest

Chinks123 · 24/01/2019 09:10

@StargazyDrifter it started off as a few flutters every day, that lasted a few minutes. By about 20 weeks she was moving constantly, especially at night! It’s when they start doing roly polys inside it gets to feel odd, but amazing.

Squ1ggle · 24/01/2019 09:46

Just had my 16 week appointment (17+1) and all looking good. She found the heartbeat which was lovely but did exclaim 'Oh baby is certainly growing' when she looked at my tummy Grin. She was lovely (unlike the ogre that was the 1st community midwife I met) and I don't have to go back until April when I'll be 28 weeks
