@AvoidingMarking i’m also secondary English and leaving for mat leave at Christmas, so i’m counting down the weeks now and trying to regard each pile of exams as my last ones for that class.

@AliceRR based on the leaflet I was given 7 movements in 20 minutes is more than enough if they’re strong. Ultimately though, you know your baby best and if it doesn’t feel right to you then i’d call the midwife or hospital for advice.

AliceRR · 03/12/2018 23:02

@Lulabel1 Hope your ok. I’ve been feeling different things the last few days. Had weird pains near groin this morning but only for a few mins so assume growing or stretching. Bump feels low and firm tonight and I wonder if baby is turning of it BH but then I was posting about movement 10 mins ago! It’s hard to know what’s what sometimes but hope you don’t feel too uncomfortable

AliceRR · 03/12/2018 23:05

Thanks @AvoidingMarking and @surprisedmom I don’t know if they were that strong but then I had some chocolate (any excuse and I had it upstairs with me!) and she was kicking away (small movements) Now I’m lying on my side and feeling stronger kicks including some to my bladder(!!) so I feel ok with that x

maxiflump1 · 04/12/2018 07:50

@AutumnLee12 after am awful night with leg cramp waking me up pretty much every hour I have ordered that magnesium oil you recommended! Praying it works as an knackered!!

powkin · 04/12/2018 08:03

@maxiflump1 I had little cramps all through the night and then a massive one as an alarm clock. I’ve only had the awful cramp twice and always after lots of walking and not stretching (because I’m an idiot). It’s so bad I can’t even move, I just try and jump out of bed and put all the weight through my hands and try and push down onto it until it releases. Horrendous :(

Had lots of fitful dreams about the baby too, I shouldn’t have watched the Louis Theroux about adoption last night. Again, my own fault!

maxiflump1 · 04/12/2018 08:12

@powkin it's horrible isn't it. I ended up jumping around the landing trying not to wake DH and DS. I have really bad circulation in my legs which doesn't really help. I have been stretching, drinking tonic water and sleeping with the window open but not helping!

powkin · 04/12/2018 08:22

Both times it has happened I’ve woken up really hot and sweaty, but it was a cold night last night so I’m more surprised. It was cramping off and on all night though in reality. I really need to stretch before bed every evening. I have a banana most days and was having a small glass of orange juice every day but we ran out and haven’t replaced it so I should get some more. I’m so bleary-eyed now!

babyp160 · 04/12/2018 10:25

Baby is head down and whenever I'm sitting up straight. Driving etc he really wiggles and I feel like I'm squishing his little head 😩

Anyone else feel like this?

powkin · 04/12/2018 11:14

Came on here to say something that was obviously very important and have now completely forgotten! Brilliant...

sculks back to the corner to continue fruitless attempts to write Masters dissertation

Oh yes I remember - party dress disaster - both dresses I bought make me look like a giant shiny fat blob. Could not feel less attractive in them sigh. I need something that shows boobs as they are my main asset (and any semblance of waist has disappeared, probably never to return) HOWEVER sexy supportive bras that are a) affordable b) non wired and c) comfortable are not easy to find for 36FF boobs!

Since2016 · 04/12/2018 11:41

Hotmilk v good for bras - actually sexy looking and unwired. Also breastfeeding if needed as have clips. I invested last time and are a godsend x

Yakadee · 04/12/2018 12:36

Been for 31 week appointment this morning and been sent for a growth scan on Thursday. She said she doesn't think it's anything to worry about and that it's probably just baby's position messing with the measurements. She said she's low (you're telling me - ouch) and all curled up so likely it's because they can't get the full pic. X

Surprisedmom · 04/12/2018 12:47

@powkin I know how you feel regarding dresses, everything I tried on either didn’t fit or made me feel like a sack of potatoes. Think I’m just going with trousers and a shiny top for my Christmas outfit.

Rowse · 04/12/2018 15:37

Those of you who have started NCT courses, I was wondering what the first session covers broadly?
Our Jan course was cancelled today due to low numbers and as a result we are joining a different course tonight, which means we missed the first session last week.
It's the NCT Signature antenatal course and tonight is the breastfeeding one, which is run by a different person to last weeks session so I'm not sure if she'll know what we missed.

bubblybrit · 04/12/2018 16:39

@Rowse. I have my last session on Thursday evening which is in relation to feeding. Previous sessions have been different stages of labour, pain relief and first few days/weeks of baby being born and what to expect.

Yakadee · 04/12/2018 18:43

Does anyone know if stat maternity pay is affected if you work reduced hours? Can't seem to find the answer? I work 25.5 hours per week so only 3 days. Thanks xx

powkin · 04/12/2018 19:11

@Surprisedmom I’m trying a seraphine dress from eBay. It’s a bit of a risk, half the price that it is on their website but if it’s not right then it’s £20 wasted and I can’t return. I’ve also bought some discounted hotmilk underwear (shudders at brand name) on there too but from a shop that takes returns (I assume only on bras!) so hope it fits as I’ve guessed my size.

Fredthespider · 04/12/2018 19:16

@Rowse we had ours on Sunday, it was 4 hours long so depending on the course you might not have been expected to cover this much. We did introductions, split into pregnant/partners to go through what we wanted to cover, pregnant mums then covered the senses and what they wanted at birth, partners did senses of a romantic evening. We looked at places to give birth, signs of early labour, natural induction methods (and what to avoid!) and then medical induction methods. Lastly we did things to try with a crying baby then a quick 5 min meditation session.

babyp160 · 04/12/2018 19:25

@Yakadee SMP is 90% of your wage for the first 6 weeks and then either £145.18 per week OR 90% of your wage, whichever is lowest xx

Surprisedmom · 04/12/2018 20:17

@Rowse it really depends how many sessions there are in the course. Mine was 3 sessions, the first was about labour and immediately after birth. The second session was breastfeeding (but was actually about feeding more generally and also about the routine of looking after a baby and how to ensure your own wellbeing too). The third session was post-birth, focussing mainly on the early weeks of looking after a baby and how your body will react in the weeks after birth, but also some more general things about the first 6 months.

Yakadee · 04/12/2018 20:41

@babyp160 - thanks. Settled on a finish date so wanted to just double check pay / figures.

Those of you that have had growth scans - I take it they'll just so checks on baby and check the size and that they'll go through it with you? Xx

Lulabell1 · 04/12/2018 21:02

I have such bas pains and really bad wind iv been so uncomfortable for over a week now i cried yesterday because how i was feeling im still getting the fanny daggers and iv got that constant tight bump and just generally a lot of pressure down low its horrible x

Lulabell1 · 04/12/2018 21:07

Okay as iv just typed the above message i think iv lost my plug!!!!!!!!! Gone to the toilet and iv got a (sorry tmi) snotty with a little bit of blood tissue when i wiped is this a plug? I dont no because i never lost it with DD. Think im going to call midwife will keep you all updated

Celebelly · 04/12/2018 21:12

@Yakadee At my growth scan, she took some measurements on the screen of various parts (head, tummy, legs, etc.) and then she input them into her computer software. She then showed me the results that said where baby was estimated to be on the curve as well as current estimated weight and said she was happy that nothing else needed to be done and we'd just keep an eye on it and see if I needed another scan at some point in the future.

Celebelly · 04/12/2018 21:12

@Lulabell1 Hope everything is OK. Def call midwife x

Fredthespider · 04/12/2018 21:15

@Lulabell1 It sounds like it could be, hope the midwife looks after you x
