@sickmumma. I’m having mine at 30 weeks as Babybond says the ideal time is between 28 and 32 weeks x

Lulabell1 · 21/11/2018 18:58

Growth scans are so common now! I had them withh DD because i was under 21 my friend from work is having hers because she smokes they kind of just refer them for anything these days

babyp160 · 21/11/2018 19:00

Window to the womb here too.

Was a great deal at £79 for 6 photos, a video, well-being check, key rings etc.

They suggest between 26-30 weeks. I went for 29 weeks originally but now he is measuring big I changed it to 28 weeks.

They freak me out too.

AutumnLee12 · 21/11/2018 19:13

I'm still undecided on a 4d scan, but I think I'll regret it if I don't especially seen as my 20week was a bit rubbish cos he wasn't playing ball!

Had my 28week mw appointment today and results from my gtt yesterday were fine so I'm happy with that!

Welshshepherdess · 21/11/2018 19:14

Bargain hunters out there, Tesco have changed their own brand nappy’s to be Fred & flo, there are two deals on at moment- all old branded nappies are reduced to clear and the new ones are on introductory offer. Size 1 which is up to 11lb are 1.80 for 50 - that’s 3.6 p a nappy which is cheeper than Aldi’s own brand and think its the cheepest I have ever seen a nappy. And if you have the Tesco spend 90 get money off these could work out even cheeper.

sickmumma · 21/11/2018 19:15

We went to window to the womb for the 16 week gender scan and it was such a great experience and being our last I wonder if I will regret not having one done just this time!

Alicejj8x · 21/11/2018 19:30

@AliceRR
I am on a fb group for Feb mums & everyone on there who posts about 4D scans have told me to drink as much this whole week as possible as apparently it helps when you have the scan so I've been downing water lol

AliceRR · 21/11/2018 19:32

@Alicejj8x Helps how? Better pic? Fatter baby? Lol

Alicejj8x · 21/11/2018 20:01

@AliceRR
Ahaha I literally have no idea how it helps but I just thought I'd drink more anyway ahah

AliceRR · 21/11/2018 20:13

@Alicejj8x I was just reading about it and apparently it can mean you have more / clearer amniotic fluid. I think I’ve drunk a bit more the last few days but not much... will have to drink more now and hope for the best!

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/11/2018 20:21

I'm hoping to book a 4D scan for 5th December when I will be 29 weeks exactly Smile I've read 26-30 weeks is the best time.

Still not been measured by the midwife as my 28 week appt isn't for two weeks (I'll be 29+1) but I know I'm big. Yet another comment from a tactful colleague today: "are you sure you'll make it til the end of Jan" (I'm finishing end of Jan but due date isn't until 20th Feb).

AliceRR · 21/11/2018 20:45

@Lookingforadvice123 I will be 28+6 on saturday when I have my scan so timed it about the same as you

Just ignore people. People at work tell me my bump is big. One colleague tells me I look noticeably bigger every day. Another came over on Monday to tell me how big I look 😬 I don’t mind at all though. I’m having a a baby and it’s good for baby to grow!

Yakadee · 21/11/2018 20:46

Speaking of comments from people. I was talking to some random woman at a playgym and we were just talking and I mentioned I was expecting (I'm 29 weeks) and she said, 'Oh yeah, I can tell now you've mentioned it. I was a big girl with mine too '. Cheeky cow!! X

Alicejj8x · 21/11/2018 20:48

@AliceRR
Ah yes I remember someone saying about the fluid. Yeah your be fine :) x

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/11/2018 21:00

Thanks AliceRR

Yakadee wow some people are so rude!

I'll never understand why people think it's ok to comment. The colleague who said this to me today is overweight - she works hard at the gym but is what I would call a bigger girl naturally and her diet is clearly not great as she's still overweight. But I would never comment on it! In fact I'll often say I think you've lost weight when I know she's been working hard at the gym because, you know, I'm nice!

maxiflump1 · 21/11/2018 21:02

Has my 28 week appointment today and all fine. Measuring bang on for dates but didn't get to listen to heartbeat as "it's against NICE guidelines" and the trust have decided to stop doing it. @Fredthespider have you had your 28 appointment yet? I asked why there seems to be different policies within the trust and the mw says the policy is not to listen to heartbeat but some surgeries still choose to do so. Clear as mud!!

Yakadee · 21/11/2018 21:05

@Lookingforadvice123 - I am over weight - can't say I'm not, but still! I'm obviously pregnant. Why say anything? Lol x

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/11/2018 21:09

yakadee exactly. Some people are overweight, some aren't. Some people (overweight or not) balloon in pregnancy, some don't. 99% of the time you can't control it, so don't say anything! It's flippin rude. Just think it quietly Grin

Fredthespider · 21/11/2018 21:12

@maxiflump1 I had it last week in Filton. I did hear the heartbeat, but the appointment was being driven by a student midwife and so I think they might have listened as a teaching tool and might not have if the student hadn’t been there. It’s a shame you didn’t get to listen, especially as I’m not sure you get a 25 week appointment if it’s not your first?

Yakadee · 21/11/2018 21:17

@Lookingforadvice123 - oh yeah, knock yourself out in private! There were a few things I could have said back but why! (At least I'm pregnant?)

Some people amaze me. She also told me that my son probably doesn't have asthma it might just be a milk intolerance! 🤦‍♀️

emalady · 21/11/2018 21:23

DH is struggling to feel the little one move, had his hand on my tummy 20 minutes tonight and she moved as soon as he stopped. Any ideas on how to help him feel her?

maxiflump1 · 21/11/2018 21:47

@Fredthespider nope this was the first appointment I've had since my 16 week one as it's my second baby. I did hear it when i went into ante natal assessment though so at least I've got to hear it at some point in this pregnancy! Just strange how it differs so much within a trust!

AliceRR · 21/11/2018 21:54

My MW listened to heartbeat at 28 w appointment yesterday and she did at the last one too so thinking she probably does it every time

She was quite good actually. I prefer her to the one before who has just “rotated”. She was nice didn’t seem to do much

Surprisedmom · 21/11/2018 22:46

My MW listened to my heartbeat at the last two appointments (24 and 28 weeks) but I didn’t get to with a different midwife at 18 weeks, so I think perhaps it’s the personal choice of the midwife 🤷‍♀️

lanalawr · 22/11/2018 07:03

You could try asking to listen in if they put it as maternal request in your notes. My midwife wasn't going to at the 28 week appointment. I just asked if they didn't do it any more at that stage because I know things have changed since dd. She told me that guidelines say from 36 weeks now but asked if I wanted to do it for dd (I had to take her with me to the appointment). It would just go down in my notes as maternal request. They're focussing more on movements now. As it turns out the baby just kept kicking the probe and wouldn't play ball so all we heard was the (anterior) placenta. Neither of us were worried - they're moving so they clearly have a heartbeat.
