@Notquiteagandt I was worrying last night as I hadn’t felt baby move much. She usually moves around a lot when I first get in bed. She had been moving half an hour before when I ate a Krispy kreme donut(!) and she did kick about a bit again later and has this morning but I think definitely worth even at this stage as I’ve noticed her routines and regular movements for about a month already

Baby160P · 18/10/2018 11:48

Gender wise they aren't supposed to say 'it's a boy' or 'it's a girl' now anyway Incase if it being wrong.

We were shown and told 'these extra bits aren't usually on a female'

They aren't allowed to write what it is down or anything like that so personally don't see the issue. Maybe naive!

twiglet · 18/10/2018 12:04

Shock I did not realise how much he was moving until I started using kick count and registering each session!

I thought he only moved a bit in the morning and evening but I'm already at 14 today! Feel a bit bad for not noticing Blush

Celebelly · 18/10/2018 12:59

My DP felt our little girl kick for the first time last night! She's been a bit of a pest for hiding the minute he puts his hand on my tummy, so last night I baited her out and made him enter the room silently Grin She was kicking higher up too, which helps - well above my belly button. I guess I have less chub there for her to get through! Blush

I've been sitting watching my tummy move for the past few nights too. It's v weird.

Fredthespider · 18/10/2018 14:07

Glad I'm not the only one doing the same @Celebelly! I don't think I'll get tired of feeling baby move but OH is already a bit bored of me going "OOOH COME FEEL" haha.

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 14:13

@AliceRR. Not sleeping is such a pain! I expected it once the lo arrived but no-one told me that I’d be sleep deprived for months beforehand. Hope your PGP isn’t too bad. I’ve mainly just had a sore tummy but think it’s all down to stretching!

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 14:15

My boss has been great @Yakadee but I feel so bad as others are covering my work Sad got to travel next week and I can see if far enough!

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 14:18

My company wouldn’t allow me to work from home @twiglet. Wish they were a little more flexible. My colleagues are covering my calls and meetings but I’ve been checking emails and trying to respond to help out a little bit.

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 14:20

That’s how I feel @Leonora94. Went to work today as had to run through a really important presentation but left work early. Hope you feel better soon!

Yakadee · 18/10/2018 14:40

@bubblybrit - it's tough isn't it. I hate feeling like I've let people down but you should be putting yourself first where possible x

sickmumma · 18/10/2018 14:43

We already have the crib set up, we won't be buying the buggy until after Xmas though probably just due to it being such a big expense and want to get pressies etc sorted first! With our first we had the cot etc up but had the buggy at MIL in DH old bedroom and we went and got it after DS was born!

I am shocked about them not telling you the sex, at our scan she outright asked if we wanted to know and we said we had already had a scan but could she confirm and she did. It was pretty clear even I could see!

I had my first hormonal moment last night! We ordered a kebab (classy I know!) and when it got here it was the wrong thing, it was like shredded chicken I couldn't even look at it without feeling sick and I couldn't stop crying! I felt so silly and started laughing at the same time how ridiculous I was being and I think DH didn't quite know what to do! He even offered his or to go and get another one (which I said would be pointless as he would go to all that effort to
Get it and I can't eat much anyway!) I think at the moment my whole focus is around food, what I can and can't eat and feel like and I was excited to have it and the disappointment was too much! I felt like such a brat but I literally just couldn't control my emotions it was so strange haha!

Yakadee · 18/10/2018 15:05

@sickmumma - aww I get it! Have you had pregnancy giggles yet? X

AliceRR · 18/10/2018 15:14

@bubblybrit I’ve has some stretching too just general aching in my middle and legs but it’s ok (some days worse than others) and I’m managing without painkillers. Got DH to rub my legs last night and that helped Grin

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 15:25

That’s true @Yakadee. My DH is getting fed up with me worrying about work when I should be focussed on me and the baby x

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 15:27

@AliceRR. Yeah I’m not taking any painkillers either. Just got to stand up really slowly when getting out of bed or standing up from a seated position. If I move too quickly then I get a bit of pain like a stitch in my side x

Yakadee · 18/10/2018 16:50

@bubblybrit - easier said than done but now is the time to do it. I overworked myself with my first thinking back and I didn't get any praise. Turns out I didn't even go back to the same job (as my hours had to change so moved to another dept) x

bubblybrit · 18/10/2018 16:54

@Yakadee. Yes you are right. Baby needs to come first. I’m lucky that I’ll be stopping in Dec as got loads of holidays to use in Jan before mat leave starts in Feb. Only 9 weeks to go........when are you able to wrap up? X

Yakadee · 18/10/2018 17:39

@bubblybrit - well, not sure just yet. I'm hoping for a section so depending on that date (and assuming I still feel good) I'll work right up to the date. Plan is to take holiday later in the year. My employer gives 20 weeks full pay and then stat pay. Planning to take 11 months off so will use all my holiday at the end to top us up a bit. I'll probably be reducing my hours when I go back too because of childcare x

Twice???

Surprisedmom · 18/10/2018 17:40

There’s an article on the bbc about the baby boxes I thought some of your might find interesting Baby box safety doubts raised by experts www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-45889226

twiglet · 18/10/2018 18:34

Personally I think they are just trying to avoid rolling them out across rest of the UK to avoid cost!

Yes more research is needed but the box in Scotland comes with far more than just the mattress, room thermometer, baby Sling bath towel, scratch mitts etc.

We will be using ours downstairs it has a safety rated mattress, I don't see much difference between the box and a mosses basket. The lullaby trust also don't recommend sleepyheads which a lot of people seem to use.

Surprisedmom · 18/10/2018 19:00

@twiglet I agree they probably want an excuse not to roll them out. I also thought it was a bit odd, I mean they’ve been used for so long in other countries without any connection to SIDS that it seems to me (admittedly not a scientist) that a pretty good trial has already been done, hasn’t it?

Celebelly · 18/10/2018 19:06

We weren't planning to use ours for sleep as we have a Moses basket but I can't wait to get ours. They have so much stuff in them. Do any other Scottish bumpers know when you get the form to send off? I have my 24-week appointment next Weds so can ask then too.
