@melissa112 it's so hard when you're getting anxious to kind of dial it back and look at things calmly. I know. It definitely helps to just feel that you at least understand the facts. Having only vague knowledge - eg that hot stuff on bump is not advisable - kind of just makes it possible to imagine worst case scenarios and feel helpless. hugs to you!

Re bleeding gums, I think partly this is to do with just having way more blood in your body? But definitely good to get it seen to, particularly as we have the exemption card.

Wineandchoccy · 04/09/2018 15:37

@melissa112 if you read a few posts up you will see I posted about teeth earlier. Bleeding gums is perfectly normal when pregnant it is the hormones that cause the bleeding, good oral hygiene keeps it under control. Don’t panic which I know is easier said than done x

HidCat · 04/09/2018 16:26

@LittleKitty1985 I may get give it another week but that's really cool. Ditto on the inability to suck it in anymore lol.

@Nightmanagerfan I told my Dentist I was pg and they signed it off without the form! Apparently they've stopped giving them out now in Wales. I don't know why. @Wineandchoccy and recommendations for a good toothpaste for sensitive teeth?

Angelmiracle · 04/09/2018 16:36

Had my booking in and scan this afternoon. Midwife struggled to measure crown to rump as baby was curled up in a ball πŸ˜‚ So cute though. Tiny heart beating so fast. She probbed about and eventually measured. EDD put back a week 😭 to 31/03/19. I knew that would happen as I ovulated a week later but hoped it wouldn't lol.

Getting scanned with consultant in 3 weeks time. I will be 'shared' care with consultant and midwife. Scans every 2 weeks with consultant from 26 weeks. I am glad. DS was 9lb 9 and I don't want this one getting that big. I can decide birth options at 34 weeks.

@HidCat as long as it has fluoride in so don’t go buying some fancy stuff from a health food shop they are all pretty much the same. You are paying for the brand name of sensodyne so supermarket stuff is just the same but a lot cheaper

Gronk27 · 04/09/2018 17:17

I did one drama exercise today running some auditions and I was absolutely exhausted after. Then it took me about half an hour to do a 15 minute walk hike for the train station. Stabbing pains in my tummy :( having a rest now.

I need to get to a dentist soon. I've neglected my mouth! And struggling so much to brush without heaving and throwing up. Also need to go to the doctor for my exemption.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/09/2018 17:27

All went well with the scan, which was a huge relief. Pushed date back 5 days by their estimation but only 1 vs the NHS calc, so due date now 20th March.

It kept jumping when she pressed the scanner on which was funny.

lovely scans, guys! Looking very leggy @SquirtlesMumAgain, and @AngelMiracle I'm so pleased they'll be giving you all that extra care. That must be a great relief. I'm so glad that everything's looking good for the two of you.

Wineandchoccy · 04/09/2018 17:47

@SquirtlesMumAgain oh I’m so glad the scan went ok I have been checking all afternoon for your update

SquirtlesMumAgain · 04/09/2018 18:03

Thank you @wineandchoccy and @ladycarlotta. Took ages as they did bloods for the Downs screening at the same time. I don't remember it being the same day last time but the receptionist was telling another lady it absolutely had to be done the same day or the results wouldn't be right.... Very odd!

Great news on the extra care @angelmiracle. We are at the other end of the scale with baby size in the past so will be under shared care too. At least there doesn't seem to be a birthing centre at the hospital where we have moved to, so not missing our!

Gronk27 · 04/09/2018 18:41

@angelmiracle cute pic! Frustrating to be pushed back but glad they're looking after you.

@squirtlesmumagain baby looks so chilled!

VillageFete · 04/09/2018 19:05

@SquirtlesMumAgain Lovely scan pic!

@AngelMum Aah, such a cute scan! You are due the day before me. So, what made them go for shared care? Because of the PCOS? My booking in appt isn’t until Monday (11 weeks) Hoping they arrange my 12 week scan whilst i’m there.

How do I apply for this maternity exemption card? I could do with a check up at the dentist.

Just booked another reassurance scan for this Friday (i’ll be 10+4) Feel like I need to, because i’ve no idea at this point when my 12 week one will be. My booking in appt is next Monday at 11 weeks, and i’m assuming I may not get a date there and then for my scan?

Wineandchoccy · 04/09/2018 19:06

He or she looks very comfy @Angelmiracle Grin

VillageFete · 04/09/2018 19:06

Oh my gosh, @Angelmiracle I’ve called you AngelMum on the above comment. I’m so tired and defo have baby brain!

Wineandchoccy · 04/09/2018 19:07

@VillageFete your midwife at your booking in should sign you a form for you to post and you should receive it a couple of weeks later

Murphyrocks · 04/09/2018 19:43

Congratulations on your scans @Squirtlesmumagain and @Angelmiracle, so happy for you both!

HidCat · 04/09/2018 19:58

Lovely scans ladies!

@Wineandchoccy thanks for that, very reassuring.

VillageFete · 04/09/2018 20:08

Thanks @Wineandchoccy So it’s basically a maternity exemption card? Am I correct in thinking prescriptions/dental appts are free until baby is 12 months?

Bluebelltulip · 04/09/2018 20:13

@Villagefete yep you get a card which expires a year after your due date.

Wineandchoccy · 04/09/2018 20:22

@VillageFete yes that’s right although not all dental practices have to accept them if the practice is fully private they can refuse to take it and you will still have to pay.

Nightmanagerfan · 04/09/2018 20:29

Hi all. Lovely to see scan pix!

Asking for advice again - I’m not feeling much better, have a temperature and am peeing a lot. I just peed on a urine dipstick (I’d stocked up early on as used to be prone to infections) and it shows high leukocytes (the highest reading).

Should I call GP or midwife in the morning? I’m worried as I’ve had it for days and concerned about risks to the baby.

lemonsorbetinthesun · 04/09/2018 20:37

Checking in. I'm 12 week scan is on Thursday, but according to the scan I had at 8 weeks I'll be 13 weeks then. So we shall see!

I've managed to escape serious sickness (had HG last time). But I think the SPD May return as when I move in certain ways it feels loose in my pelvis, especially at the back.

ladycarlotta · 04/09/2018 20:39

@Nightmanagerfan so sorry things still aren't right with you! I reckon yes, get an emergency GP appointment or go to a walk-in clinic tomorrow. Urine infections need treating at the best of times but you definitely don't need it when you're pregnant. If you have a midwife team who actually answer their phone, call them and see what they think - alternatively mine showed me the number for the midwifery unit at the hospital and said I should call that for more urgent questions, so that might be an option for you? I suppose I'm just saying, get seen. I'm also quite prone to water infections, and if you're anything like me you know what you can handle alone and when you need to push for more. I'd judge this to be the latter occasion; your poor body's been through so much in the last few days.

@SquirtlesMumAgain oh, I got the bloods taken in the same appointment too. Dunno if it's the same across all trusts - what is? - but they definitely explained that to me as standard procedure.

VillageFete · 04/09/2018 20:43

Thanks for the advice re- the exemption card.

Anyone else struggling to go to the toilet? I get the urge to go but can’t get it all out? Blush Sorry for TMI! What can we safely take?
