For everyone with small flats/houses/cars I loved the Phil and Teds Smart. It's not expensive and fits in small spaces like my KA boot. Was great over rough ground and fab to push

1986mumof5 · 28/09/2018 12:09

I've put on 3lbs since booking in with midwife. Seems about right seeing as my bump is that of a 7 month pregnant lady already lol. With my last pregnancy I actually maintained the same weight throughout which could only mean I was loosing yucky fat weight and putting on baby weight. I walked out of the hospital a stone and a half lighter than I was before I got pregnant. Reason I'm referring to this is because no matter how much weight you're losing or gaining as long as midwife says your baby is growing well and bump is measuring well don't even watch the scales. Even if you end up the size of a house you can lose the weight if you so wish. You are growing a baby and you are amazing xx

Shampooeeee · 28/09/2018 12:29

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I've gained 4 kgs at 18 weeks. It's more than I wanted but still within the guidelines. There's an Aussie site where you put your starting weight in and it tells you min, average and max weights for every fortnight. I'm not worried because I was a healthy weight to start with. If you are underweight in general then not gaining might be a concern.

toastfiend · 28/09/2018 13:29

I'm 17 + 6 and have put on a kg from my starting weight so far. I'm trying not to gain too much as my BMI put me in the overweight category before I got pregnant. I'm trying not to stress about it though and am not consciously dieting or anything. My weight has been a huge source of stress over the years and has fluctuated a lot, so I'm trying not to get too hung up on it.

Just booked in my whooping cough vaccine for Monday next week. Been so long since I had an injection, hoping I don't get too much of that horrible dead arm feeling afterwards as I've got a long day at work the following day.

BadBadBeans · 28/09/2018 13:53

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I had put on roughly a couple of kilos by the midwife's scales by the time I booked in at 9 weeks. However, I was interested to see that at my private appointment at 10.5 weeks I was weighing an entire kilo lighter! The hospital then weighed me at 13 weeks for my scan, and I was back up to the same weight the midwife had weighed me at at 9 weeks. So... who knows?! I think weight gain will depend very much on the body type we have to begin with anyway, won't it? I am fairly petite when not pregnant so if I'd lost any during the first trimester it would probably be something I would be asking the midwife about, but I have a friend who is much larger than me who actually lost weight (in a completely healthy, NHS-approved way!) over the course of her whole pregnancy because she was eating so healthily and exercising well. As @Shampooeeee says, I wouldn't worry about not gaining at this stage unless you have a low BMI to begin with - then it might be worth talking to the midwife to see what she thinks.

@wordsmithereens thank you for the maternity allowance link and the info!

VillageFete · 28/09/2018 17:26

It’s really zoomed in. If it definitely is a girl (although I am going back for confirmation in 2 weeks) What the hell is the stacking on last pic? Can’t help but think she’s made a mistake and don’t want to get too excited. X

VillageFete · 28/09/2018 17:28

Oops apologies, last comment wasn’t for this thread Grin

So much to catch up on. I am feeling rubbish, run down and full of cold. Also, does anyone know when i’ll get my NT results in the post? It’s been a week?

MsLioness · 28/09/2018 17:57

@Villagefete with mine I think they said 2-3 weeks if the result was low risk.

On the topic of prams, we had a silver cross pioneer for my son. I liked it but wouldn't describe it as small or particularly good for collapsing. Before we upgraded to a bigger car I had to take a wheel off everytime I put it in the boot!

How are those with older ones thinking about prams? My son will be 28 months when this one arrives and hoping to avoid a double with a combination of buggy board, sling and taking both the silver cross and stroller with us if we're ever doing a day out with loads of walking. Is this the daftest idea ever? I just don't want to spend £££ on a double that's going to get hardly any use and take up all my hallway.

Murphyrocks · 28/09/2018 18:51

@MsLioness my ds will be 32 months and I've been gradually getting him used to walking rather than being pushed! Training him to walk next to the pushchair holding onto the side which he's pretty good with, then at the moment he goes in when he gets tired but I plan to get a buggy board for that when dc2 arrives. Then yes if its lots of walking it'll be a sling for dc2 and rucksack/pushchair for ds. Luckily our pushchair will do up to 25kg but is also suitable from newborn so will work for either of them.

wordsmithereens · 28/09/2018 19:08

@badbadbeans Even things like water weight/fluid retention can massively impact your weight. I've literally weighed myself the morning after a night in what's affectionately known as the dance sauna night (venue gets so hot) and been 2kg lighter. Conversely, if you eat a lot of salty stuff for a while and drink to match, you'll easily add a kilo in pure water. Think it's actually not recommended to weigh yourself every day for that reason - I certainly don't think it's much help on mental health grounds as it can leave you obsessing over quite natural variation and body fluctuations.

Bellendejour · 28/09/2018 19:41

Hello everyone hope you’re all doing well. I’ve had a funny week, lots of happiness with telling people, but still struggling at work and felt really emotional today. I also feel a bit gigantic already, but can still fit in normal jeans so don’t know if it’s all in my head (I know getting gigantic is the whole point). Think I just need the weekend badly! Hope everyone is happy and healthy Smile

Wineandchoccy · 28/09/2018 20:25

@wordsmithereens sorry for the late reply only just got in from work.

The silver cross pioneer and wayfarer are great prams but probably not great for public transport they are heavy and bulky.

Bluebelltulip · 28/09/2018 20:51

@MsLioness my DD will be 26 months and I've decided to go for a double. I did think about using a sling/buggy board which would work for short trips but I frequently go out all day. Currently favouring the out and about double nipper which isn't too bad cost wise and holds it value quite well to sell on. Didn't even consider the more expensive doubles as I can't guarantee I'll use it for long enough.

ladycarlotta · 28/09/2018 21:04

just catching up but @badbadbeans I LOVED all your recommendations, very useful! Will try to bookmark for closer to the time.

sordid/hilarious thing happened to me just now: I've been a bit worried about how sore and irritated my boobs have been getting lately, and totally freaked out this evening when I took off my bra and found my underboobs COVERED in light brown dandruffy kind of flakes.
Took me a few seconds to realise they were the crumbs from a particularly flaky sausage roll I had for lunch, which must have all fallen down my cleavage...

Bluebelltulip · 28/09/2018 21:07

That made me laugh @ladycarlotta, my DD has discovered the clips on my maternity bras so keeps undoing them which is annoying.

WhatALearningCurve · 28/09/2018 21:33

Went to a baby fair today and bought all the nursery furniture including a Snuzpod. First time we've bought anything baby related so feels a bit more real now. Also took a look at prams and think I've fallen in love with the Mutsy I2 - but struggling to find reviews of it which is annoying.

WhatALearningCurve · 28/09/2018 21:38

I'm also aware to go from nothing to all the furniture is a big leap but it was in a bundle ha. Also - currently living at my mothers whilst our house is being renovated and as a result this baby now has more furniture than I do!!
