Oh another tip talking of night feeds. Might not suit everyone but I always give baby a feed around midnight-ish on my way to bed even if they are asleep. Usually sees them through til around 4/5am. All of my kids have slept through the night from around 3/4 weeks and I think it may be due to this technique. Obviously I know not everyone's schedule will allow this especially with partner at work kids at school etc but because I home educate and partner works from home we tend to have a late bedtime which means I never really go to bed before 11/12 . Worth a try x

Murphyrocks · 27/09/2018 17:57

@Angelmiracle congratulations that's excellent news!

LittleKitty1985 · 27/09/2018 18:08

I told my A level students today! They were a mixture of being excited for me and being upset that I'd be leaving them halfway though the year. There were literally tears, including from one of the boys. Totes emosh!

Angelmiracle · 27/09/2018 19:52

Thanks ladies 😊

@LittleKitty1985 totes emosh is right! Such a cute reaction from your students!

Lovely pic @angelmiracle! Hope you have fun telling everyone.

Love reading everyone's thoughts on what to buy, it is a bit of total overwhelm! We went to mothercare the other day and the choice is overwhelming, especially with prams. And the pricing ridiculous. I'm liking the look of the silver Cross wayfarer the most for now, hubby would be happy with mothercare model, but even collapsed it won't fit into our tiny hallway cupboard which is our main storage. I'm hoping we will be able to find a kick second hand one somewhere?

Last 24 hours have been awful, managed to catch an awful stomach bug and was sicker than at any point during pregnancy. :( DH away as well. Thankfully midwife was lovely and reassuring on what to look out for when, so I could ride it out and people on the Facebook group so supportive as well. :) Fever seems to have finally broken, which was my main concern as I didn't want to cook baby in there!

ballanj · 27/09/2018 22:56

So had my 16 week check today and got to hear my little Hulk's heartbeat (new nickname given by OH and seems to be sticking around πŸ˜‚) was amazing to hear! Midwife was lovely and I didn't have to ask, she did it within minutes of me being there. Have booked my flu and whooping cough jabs now and got given a booking form for antenatal/parent classes. Forgot to hand in my filled in exemption form though πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

ballanj · 27/09/2018 22:58

@Angelmiracle lovely scan photo, you're no doubt so happy now to see little one 😊

ballanj · 27/09/2018 23:00

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever with you on the discharge front. I've always had a tendency to have slightly more around my periods so was expecting this to come into play during pregnancy. I should purchase shares in Always the amount I'm going through, at least 2-3 a day I reckon!

orangekitkat13 · 27/09/2018 23:30

@NotDoingThat total have the dry flaky nipples thing! Mine are really itchy too.

Wineandchoccy · 28/09/2018 03:14

@wordsmithereens Have a look at the silver cross pioneer it is exactly the same size but the wheels are better than the wayfarer. If you are anywhere near Yorkshire go and have a look at the silver cross outlet shop we paid Β£495 for our pioneer and car seat it was an ex demo. They have a website if you are not near and they are excellent if you call them as well.
It is baby care @ Bradford

This is the website for the silver cross outlet shop

BadBadBeans · 28/09/2018 08:10

@Angelmiracle lovely scan! Wheeeee! SO glad you feel you can relax a bit now and tell people!

@ballanj THANK YOU for the reminder - I haven't even picked up my exemption form from the GP yet (midwives don't do it here). I will do that today!

Just had a stress that I couldn't remember whether I'd got round to paying last tax year's voluntary NIC's or not. Just looked at my gov records and it's telling me that I've got the full year's NI for 2016-2017 so I guess I did?! Still got to fill in my return for 2017-2018 - I'm going to do that sharpish so that I DEFINITELY get whatever I'm entitled to maternity-wise. Which I really, really must look up... I guess I've got to fill in some sort of form or something as I'm self-employed?!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 28/09/2018 08:25

@ballanj glad it's not just me!
How much weight has everyone put on so far? If you don't all mind me asking. I still weigh 1kg less than I started so I'm starting to worry.
The sonographer said baby was measuring fine but I don't understand how I can be growing a baby yet not be gaining weight!

wordsmithereens · 28/09/2018 08:40

@wineandchoccy Thanks for the recommendation. We're in a small flat in London, so dimensions/price are the higher priority, but if it's much of a muchness it may be worth checking out. Looks like the wheels are a bit bigger, but otoh I've found a really good offer on pramworld, and it's in red. (I'm too easy to manipulate, damn it! Grin)

@BadBadBeans If you've paid voluntary class 2, you should be entitled to Maternity Allowance (I'll be applying for it on account of no longer having a job, so looked into it). There's an eligibility checker here which is straightforward. www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/eligibility And then it's a paper form you fill in, I believe, along with some evidence including MATB1.

Bluebelltulip · 28/09/2018 08:55

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I'm not keeping track of my weight much but only got bigger around bump so I'm not that bothered. With DD I didn't put on any weight until 20weeks which did worry me but no one else, after the scan at 20 weeks I decided to stop weighing as baby was fine and it just caused unnecessary stress.

orangekitkat13 · 28/09/2018 09:03

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I'm still not back up to my pre pregnancy weight either but did put on 1llb this week. I asked my midwife and she said it's perfectly normal. I think as long as you aren't losing weight still then it is ok.

Nightmanagerfan · 28/09/2018 09:28

@wordsmithereens we are in a small London second floor flat and I was wondering about the Yo-yo with newborn pack as we have such little storage space. The reality is we will have to use a sling unless two of us are there as I can’t get down two floors with a pram and baby. Or we get a cheap second hand pram and keep it in my bike locker!

I haven’t really kept track of weight but noticed I’d only put on about 1kg between booking in and scan when they weighed me. I’m not too worried as I’m back to eating normally now and have started some exercise.

@notdoingthat someone on here recommended Palmers cocoa butter (unscented) for stretch marks and that’s been great on flaky nipples too.

wordsmithereens · 28/09/2018 09:30

@wineandchoccy Out of curiosity, did you use the Pioneer much on public transport when you had it? If yes, how did you find it for fitting on buses etc?

NotDoingThat · 28/09/2018 09:47

@orangekitkat13 @Nightmanagerfan ah so glad someone else has experience of this- google wasn't turning anything up, was beginning to think I was Patient X!

wordsmithereens · 28/09/2018 09:51

@nightmanagerfan Yeah, I'm really torn between something like the silver cross and a really lightweight model. I'm ok stairs wise as we have a lift, and hypothetically we could park it in the public corridor as well as its huge (and we're in a small block), but still makes me uneasy with such a high value item! We also have a covered balcony but my friends sil kept her buggy in a shed and apparently it took them 3 deep cleans to get the mould smell out, so not enamored with that idea.

I would quite like a separate carrycot though that baby can sleep in overnight, in case it's one of the ones that only falls asleep when wheeled around and wakes again when transferred. And a big basket would be useful for trips into local shops. I reckon slinging is the way to go for tube trips and the like.

So much to think about!

ballanj · 28/09/2018 10:01

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I've put on 6 pounds in 10 weeks. But, I've been fortunate to not have any morning sickness. I've been eating a fairly balanced diet but have developed a sweet tooth (which has probably replaced the alcohol I used to drink in terms of calories!). Ideally I'd only want to gain around 2 stone in total. I'm not very tall either at 5 3' so I always think any weight gain for me is noticeable, even if in this case it's absolutely necessary. I do tend to retain a lot of water when I have my periods so I reckon some weight gain is probably down to that. I'm still running three times a week and hope to be able to do that for as long as possible.

silvertongue · 28/09/2018 10:58

Just checking in again, I'm rubbish at posting but enjoying reading the thread.

My 12 week scan was all fine and pretty amazing to see everything - I love that I have a fully functioning second heart in my body at the minute! My dates were pushed back by one day so I'm due 30th March, I guessed well because my periods are so irregular, the midwifes date was almost 2 weeks off.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I'm still 8 lbs down on my pre-pregnancy weight but I put on 2 lbs in the last week or so, so hopefully I'll gain more quickly!

I'm nearly 14 weeks and still feeling nauseous and throwing up occasionally, fingers crossed it goes away soon!
