Due at New Year....anyone else?!

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

Hi toomanyshoes! Welcome to the busy New Year thread! Haven't got madly sore boobs - perhaps they get used to it by the third time! - but they are definitely bigger! (Today's top is fitting very snugly so am enjoying the feeling before the tum enlarges to match!)

Awen - know what you mean about the achy feeling - I almost feel as if I'm stretching inside? Which I suppose is exactly what's happening.

goingfor3 · 04/05/2007 16:20

Congrats toomanyshoes !!

I don't really think you want to know this but I have some much wind. I went to a friends house and had a really bad stomach when there, as soo as I left I had a large release of gas It was soooo satisfying!

mum2sam · 05/05/2007 13:36

hiya just got a BFP today weve been trying for 4 months now decided to order some ovulation tests off ebay and pre-seed and it bloody worked first time! I think im only 2 wks pregnant but already have had sickness-my due date is the 16th jan i think. Has anyone gone to the doctors-should i make a appointment or wait for a few wks longer? Is anyone worried about giving birth on xmas day i went 3 wks early with my first and dont think i will go full term with this one as my mum couldnt.

Bbabymumma · 05/05/2007 13:45

Goingfor3 - 8 - 12 Jan 2 DDs 3 and 5

Went to the gp's on Fri and had a very positive response unlike the first time. Even have a booking in appointment with the midwife! Mums2sam I waited until over 5 weeks to see gp because I was sent away with my first for being too early but its up to you and how you feel about the doctor. Am slightly worried about having it on Christmas day. It would upset my dd!

Anyway - hope you're all well. I'm sucking on mints to keep nausea at bay.

LilyLoo · 05/05/2007 13:54

Imawurzel · 05/05/2007 18:35

So, is it worht buying maternity wear or just go for a bigger size??
I will invest in a pair if black trousers (for work) and a pair of jeans, but what about tops??
I don't want to 'waste' money. We don't really go out anywhere. Only to town, occaisional cinema,in-laws, my parents. umm, work.

Imawurzel · 05/05/2007 18:36

worth
Damn and blast it!!

MamaMaiasaura · 05/05/2007 20:50

In last pregnancy I did get maternity wear but only when alot further along and sporting a large bump. Bought combats with paneled front as best buy.

Just adding myself to the list!
Imawurzel, I didn't need maternity stuff til quite late last time and managed with a couple of pairs of trousers and some jeans. Just bought bigger and stretchier tops from normal shops, the shops are full of smocks at the mo so I reckon its a pretty handy time to be pregnant! I did buy a breastfeeding top from Blooming Marvellous that was good while I was pregnant and invaluable after I had DD - made it much easier to feed when out and about without flashing boob at passing strangers!
Feeling very grumpy today and boobs still agony - poor old DH getting it in the neck for everything. He has gone out for a much needed drink now!
Huge congrats for the new BFP's and hope everyone is well and not too green around the gills!

With regard to maternity wear, don't get much but do get the nicest you can find in your budget. I really economised last time and by the end hated the clothes I had - i thought as I wasn't working I'd just buy casual stuff, but by the end I felt so scruffy. I'd have been better buying some smart trousers just for everyday wear but thought I didn't need them as I'd stopped working by the time I was showing (was made redundant and had "gardening leave" which was excellent timing!!)

I'm thinking of having a look around at some of the tunic tops that are everywhere - if they are still in fashion next year they could be a good early pregnancy and just afterwards idea.

When buying maternity tops I'm going to look for some stretchy wrap tops this time as they would be OK after for feeding - last time I hadn't given a thought to what normal clothes I had and I had sod all that was any good for breastfeeding as I wore a lot of fitted t-shirts, not loose, wrap or button tops.

MamaMaiasaura · 08/05/2007 10:45

Just seen dr who has given me a little pack of Emma's diary etc. Also signed prescription exemption certificate. Scan a week today. Hoping and hoping and hoping little one growing and all ok. Feel sick today so must be a good sign

Mum34 - sorry about what is happening, keeping fingers crossed & that scan is all ok.

thisisnotmyrealMNname - totally agree about getting a few nice bits.. i got 'casual' stuff and felt a complete scruff by the end of it. Only decent thing i got were the paneled cargo/combat trousers. btw when are you going to reveal your indientity??????? ..

LilyLoo · 09/05/2007 09:05

Morning all just a quick ques would you make an apt with doc now. I nearly 6 weeks so not sure if it too soon ?

birdseed · 09/05/2007 09:34

If you are taking any medication or have a medical condition then I think you should go early. Otherwise I don't reckon it matters whether you go now or a little bit later.

I went to the Dr and got sent to the nurse and the only thing they did for me was take my blood pressure and weight and give me a bit of paper giving details of the schedule of antenatal care for low risk pregnancies...ie when you have the appointments...mostly after 20 weeks!
( that was what the 'early antenatal chat' was all about ladies....very brief!)

I don't think that they will mind if you go now...unless you are very unlucky.

Oh, forgot to say - I also got to sign a form at reception that they send off to get me a certificate thing for free prescriptions and dental care...so might be worth going now if you need a free dental check up!

birdseed · 09/05/2007 09:36

Had been worrying about lack of nausea over the weekend and whether it meant anything bad!...need not have worried as it bit back yesterday!

Feeling distictly green on and off....often when driving, which isn't very helpful!

MamaMaiasaura · 09/05/2007 09:38

lily - i had mine and am at a similar stage. Very similar to what birdseed said. Also thery are sorting out my appointment with midwife.

LilyLoo · 09/05/2007 11:53

Thanks might just ring up and see if i can get apt on my days off next week or two. Just had a dental check up done so missed out there. I know what you mean about the sickness thought i was just going to be sick in Tesco I had this really badly with my dd so hoping it not going to follow suit. I hardly had anything with ds so fingers crossed.

If you went early with your first how likely is it will happen again? My mum couldnt go full term with her pregnancies and i was 3 wks early with my ds. My hubby is in the forces so trying to work out paternity leave.

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 09/05/2007 15:03

Lilyloo - our doctor's receptionist was helpful (!) - I just asked if I needed to actually see a doctor if I had just found out I was pregnant but had no specific concerns - she said just to book a "booking-in" app't with the midwife between 8 & 12 weeks. So you could try asking your surgery before making an app't?

By the way, if your dentist is private you don't get free treatment - ours used to be private, but free for kids and pregnant women. Now he is only free for kids. The exemption for dental checks only works if your dentist is NHS or if he specifically chooses to accept the scheme for free treatment in pregnancy.

laughalot · 09/05/2007 18:51

Good luck ladies I had my little girl the 14th jan 07 it flew by heres wishing you all a happy and healthy pregnancy xxx

ellieandhattie · 09/05/2007 20:02

Just popped in from Jan 07 thread, good luck to everyone. I have made some true friends from my antenatel thread even though I have never met them (they all seem to live up north ) but speak to a couple on them on the phone etc. Cant believe its a year ago tomorrow I found out no 2 was on the way and now shes fast asleep upstairs (and yes she sleeps from 6.30-6.30 so Jan babies are great!!!!!)
