Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

too true barristermum! xx

pussycatmomma · 06/06/2007 18:29

just wanted to say sorry to hear about the bleeding mrs mc, hope all is well, I'll be keeping everything crossed for you. xxxx
After just trying to work it out on another thread, I can now say I am 7 weeks tomorrow
Feels like the magic number 12 is a very long way off though....
Spending nearly every waking hour worrying about, in no partcular order - miscarriage, getting to the scan and no baby, re-testing and not being bfp anymore, having a chemical preg, going to dr for a test and it being negative, not getting sick and that being a Bad Sign........
I need reassurance!!!!!!!!! How the hell am i gonna manage 9months???
It sure takes the edge off things doesnt it, all this initial worry.. Was talking to a woman in the canteen at work today, not a good friend but an aquaintance, who, on hearing I was prg, proceeded to tell me about her miscarriage at 8 weeks and her baby dying at 17 weeks
Why oh why do people do this??? Very sad for her of course, but is it really appropriate to inform a newly prg person of this ???
maybe im just still feeling too sensitive and hormonal....
Awen, how far are you today? Whats your due date sweetie?
love to all xxxxxxx

toomanyshoes · 06/06/2007 20:27

Hello, just a quicky to say hi as am supposed to be doing some work!! Havn't had a chance to have a proper catch up as this appears to be the longest thread in the world but hope you are all blooming!
i am looking decidedly porky unfortunately, am wearing maternity jeans!!! 10 weeks today but look about 4 months gone, wish i had done sit ups after DD!
Am off to New York for 4 days tomorrow so will check in again next week. Will probably be bankrupt from shopping by then though so may have to sell laptop to pay mortgage!
xx

MamaMaiasaura · 06/06/2007 21:22

Pussycatmomma - was to read what your work friend said. I totally understand as this has happened on at least 2 occasions. Some people are such arses. Got to the point I physically had hands over ears and she wouldnt stop. It wasnt even her who had lost one but a friend of a friend..

My due date is 5th Jan. 9+4 now. Have crappy headache and shivers. Been a completely shit mummy today and very with myself and disappointed with my lack of patience (starting another thread as q upset)

Toomanyshoes - My tummy is getting big blaming it on wind.. Never got my flattummy back after ds tho, altho got back to size 10/12 with jelly wobble tummy (still wearing myt size 12 jeans with overhang ).

BeckyAu · 07/06/2007 07:47

Hi ladies - I hope you are all well this morning? Wow.. we have such a busy thread!

I hope you don't mind me asking for your advice? This is my first time pregnant and it seems there's so much to know but I know some of you ladies are much more experienced than me!

I have a dilemma though a nice dilemma. DH told me yesterday that 2 friends have booked to take me to a Spa hotel in Spain for the weekend next week as a birthday surprise which of course is lovely and terribly generous. However I'm not sure what I should and shouldn't do while I'm there? I've convinced myself flying will be ok (people do it all the time, right?) but I'm worried that I might cause harm to beanie.. I know massage is out and hot tubs but I would be really grateful if you have any help or advice on this one. The friends didn't know I'm pregnant though they will soon (no champagne for me )and I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. It's not something I would be doing normally and I don't want to seem ungrateful!

Thank you so much - have a lovely day wherever you are!

beller · 07/06/2007 08:02

Morning all!!
10 weeks today woo-hoo!
TMI, but i actually managed to go to the loo yesturday!! What a relief..and tummy almost back to normal now...but dont feel pregnant apart from sore boobs!
Pussycattomomma- I cant believe what your friend said?? I have a friend that thats happened to, and she hasnt once mentioned it,and i know would dream of!
Beckyau- Just tell them that you are pregnant, they may change oils they use,and ask you to smell them, as some may make you feel sick? How about a facial ( they will know what to use and not),pedicure, manicure? Have a fab time..I didnt know at the time, but I have flown to Oman,Barcelona and Dubai since being pregnant, and beany is fine xx

The ex tex last night "how are you feeling hun?" I sent back "tired...scared..." he said "why?"...what?!?!?!?!?!
We ended up having a 45 minute conversation, he said "people that have been together for 4 months dont keep a baby if it happens"...I told him that was a ridiculous statement..and termination wasnt a form of contraception... Anyway..its went on and on..we shouted a bit...then said we didnt want to row...I told him I hadnt asked him for anything, so he could play as little or as much a part of this as he wanted.. He said he wants to be there for me and the baby as much as possible..but hasnt been able to do it very well for his 12 year old daughter, and it dosnt seem to work. I said that was up to him..Anyway, he is coming round next week for a chat, so we will see. At least we are speaking now, and hopefully the least that will come out of this, is that Beany will know his/her dad...
Sorry that turned ou to be long, but you have all ben so supportive, so though I would update you. Ill let you know how it goes next week xxxx
Hope everyone is well today xxxx

goingfor3 · 07/06/2007 08:06

MrsMcJnr - how is it going for you?

beller · 07/06/2007 09:18

yes, how are you feeling Mrsmcjnr?
Hope all is ok xx

anyone seen the post on pregnancy topic
"I would rather poke my eyes out than call my child"
Oh my god....what a post! Why would you post that..........

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 10:10

I know - I posted at the beginning of the thread saying that though I'm pretty plucky I would NEVER criticise names - far too emotive a subject! Those threads always upset people. Beckyau - what lovely friends One glass of champagne won't hurt. You can get treatments like parafin wax treatment on your hands/feet which make them lovely and soft. Also you can use the swimming pool and take advantage of the lovely food

pussycatmomma · 07/06/2007 10:31

hello ladies....
just a quick post from me...almost beside myself with worry as last night I experienced some bleeding. I rang the emergency dr number and a very nice nurse spoke to me while I sobbed my socks off
Been to gp this morning and am going for a scan at 11.30 this morning. Am absolutely terrified that something will be wrong.
sorry if tmi, the blood was watery red last night and came out a couple of times, within the space of an hour and was when i went for a wee. Nothing else thank God. This morning there was some brown thick discharge but no blood. Am so so scared. Sorry to post on here. Would love some possible reassurance. GP said that they may need to scan me today and then rescan me in perhaps a few days or a week or so and keep me monitored as may not be able to tell if all ok today or not as so early.
Any one else had a scan at 7 weeks? What should i be able to see??
Sorry dont mean to be so self-centred, hi to everyone, beller am sorry you having difficulty with your ex-ptr, and BeckyAu hope you have a lovely time in spain.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 10:37

Pussycatmomma - so sorry you're going through this. It's good that you're getting a scan so soon though. At 7 weeks you might be able to see an embryo and heartbeat, but it varies a lot. Keeping fingers crossed for you. I bled with ds but all was fine. I bled from 5 weeks through to about 11 (on and off).

BeckyAu · 07/06/2007 10:38

Hi Pussycatmomma

I am so sorry you're having such a mare. I have to admit I don't have any good advice or experience on this matter but felt compelled to send you a ((hug)). Please try to relax and breathe (take your shoulders out of your ears ) and know that you are getting some medical help. See what they say at the scan, and then you can take it one step at a time. Not knowing is always the worst thing and we all imagine the worst. But you don't have too long til the scan - my fingers are crossed for you. Please let us know how you get along

BeckyAu · 07/06/2007 10:44

And thanks plummymummy - I've never had such wax treatments - but how lovely is the thought of soft hands and feet - and brightly coloured nail varnish on my toes too! But I do feel terribly fat though not pregnant at the moment so under normal circumstances wouldn't wish to scare people with the sight of me in a swimming costume. Roll on looking properly pregnant!

beller - thanks for the reassurance about flying - this will be a well travelled bean - it's already been to Atlanta (though it was only a week or so old at the time!)

Hope all you other ladies are having a good morning xxx

pussycatmomma · 07/06/2007 10:45

thank you both.
I have been reading in all my books and bleeding does seem to be pretty common in early pregnancy, but it is so scary when it actually happened. Think we are going to get ready to go now. Please keep everything crossed for me.
Mrs, mc, if you are reading this, hope you are ok my love, xxxx

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 10:48

Everything crossed - let us know how it goes xx

beller · 07/06/2007 11:06

Pussycatmomma- Goodluck with the scan, i to dont have any advice, but your doing the right thing..and hopefully will be reasured byt this afternoon..i had a scan at 7 +2 and could just see beany...((((((((Hugs))))))))
Let us know how you get on xx

Coriander73 · 07/06/2007 12:17

FWIW PCM I had a scan at 5+4 with DD as I'd had bright red bleeding & all was well...thinking of you xx

mum2sons · 07/06/2007 12:25

Hugs to you pussycatmama... I had bleeding with DS1, it can be quite common apparantly.
I have everything crossed for your scan today. Good luck and I hope your mind is put at rest xxx

Lozza70 · 07/06/2007 13:12

I hope the scan goes okay Pussycatmoma. I had a scan at 7 weeks and you could see the embryo and a little flicker of a heartbeat. Fingers crossed for you.

PBirdy · 07/06/2007 14:21

Pussycatmomma - I know you aren't back on line to read this but I have all my fingers and toes crossed that the scan went well. Let us know how you got on XX

MrsMcJnr - congrats on fab scan, how lovely. Try not to stress about the bleeding (easier said that done of course) it is very normal for that to happen. Thoughts with you XX

Glad to hear that everyone else is travelling along ok - as much as any of us are actually ok these days with so much to worry about and the extra hormones just to keep us slightly off balance! It is such a scary time. I have had days of being elated and then days of being terrified. I am glad we have this thread to share our feelings, especially when for lots of us there are very few people who know our news.

I told work this morning, major achievement and my voice quavered when I told my boss which I am horrified about but at the last minute I just felt really overwhelmed about what I was saying. I was off work sick yesterday - I was up at 3.30am throwing up and then a horrible sea sick feeling until 8.00am and I just couldn't face the office. Anyway, since they were annoyed at the first doctor's appointment I wanted to tell them anyway so that I could go to the next appointment without the dramas. I am SO relieved that now it is done. I didn't tell the scary boss who is away today (yay!) but I told the other two who were shocked but very kind and nice and said congratulations etc. Female boss much nicer than male boss - funny that.

I have asked that they don't tell the rest of the group until after the nuchal scan in 2 weeks time.

Anyway, feel like a weight has been lifted and I can stop pretending a bit at work which is quite a relief becuase I have had the nausea / sickness quite a lot.

Barristermum: your sleep walking story was hilarious and gave me quite a giggle sitting here at work - thanks for that

Beller: I cannot believe that text message!!! Chin up babe you are doing so well handling this and it seems to me that you are well rid of him (easier in theory I know).

My post is too long to respond to all the other things! This thread has become such a fun part of my working day (perhaps "working" is the wrong word).

PBirdy XXXX

PBirdy · 07/06/2007 14:23

And also meant to say,

Toomanyshoes: Yay for New York! Lucky girl. Good exchange rate at the moment too!

BeckyAu: Spain will be lovely - sit back and relax and enjoy all the pampering! No hot tubs or abdominal massage but there are lots of other nice things, facials, pedicures etc that you will have fun with. I did a trip to Morocco about 2 weeks ago (at 8 weeks) and I was fine. Just be careful about what you eat, although Spain is fine compared to Morocco for that. Have fun!

beller · 07/06/2007 14:40

thanks Pbirdy- Glad you feel better today and have got that load off your mind..I still have all that to come [gulp]
xx

plummymummy · 07/06/2007 15:48

No news from pussycatmomma yet - hope everything is ok.

pussycatmomma · 07/06/2007 17:04

hi everyone................
thank you so much for lovely messages,
all is well
Am so very relieved. The ladies at the early preg unit place were really kind and nice. I had a tummy scan and they could see the baby but not the heartbeat clearly. I was then allowed to go for a wee (had a full bladder for scan as asked) and then they did the vaginal scan and saw everything Tiny little scrap of a thing but with its little beating heart
Cried all the way through, of course, done nothing but cry on and off since last night, the panic, the fear, and now the sheer relief of everything being ok for now.
They are going to do another scan in 2 weeks, just for my own reassurance i think. They said the bleeding was caused by a small haemorage(sp?) lyiing near the sac but it is away from the baby and not related to the baby in any way. They said i might get some more bleeding as it comes away, but also that the remaining blood may get reabsorbed into my body.
This is going to be a truly terrifying 9 months ladies....
But for now, all well and I am just going to chill out this evening.
Thank goodness for this thread!!!!!
thank you for listening to my waffle everyone
