Due at New Year....anyone else?!

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

I have just had the awful thought that i might be preg, have even done a namechange!
Been feeling a bit spacy the last couple of days and burpy, both symptoms i had with 1st 2. But DD2 is only 7 mo am bfeeding and periods havent even come back yet......have very mixed feelngs and havent even done a test yet. Does anyone know if a rise in temperature alone is a good indicator?

Bbabymumma · 25/04/2007 14:27

VictorVictoria - we shall help those 4 weeks go faster.

ohgod - I think you may need to do a test. Could they be symptoms of AF coming back? Then again I don't think burping is a usual sign for AF! My sis got pg by accident with dd2 whilst BF and not AF. (sorry am acronynm addict - stops the blokes I sit next to at work having a clue what I'm talking about!)

beansprout · 25/04/2007 14:29

What sort of a rise in temp? If you are temping and temp stays high for 18 days, then you are preg. Are you temping though? Hope you get the result you want!

birdseed · 25/04/2007 17:17

Hi Bbabymumma, sorry for note getting back to you until today (name change from kerm!),

I am nervous too. Will be no 1 for me if it sticks. Although slightly amazed that I have even got this far so not too confident about it all!

Breasts a little bit bigger and more tender and feeling a bit more tired than usual.
But have been having back ache on and off for a couple of days. Usually get it with my period, so hope it's not a bad sign.

I agree with the rest of you - think dr at 5 weeks is a good plan.

birdseed · 25/04/2007 17:28

Also, does anyone who has done this before know how long it takes before your clothes get tight. I bought some new summer trousers the day before I found out and they are somewhat big, but have a drawstring....will I be significantly bigger within 3 months (ie keep the bigger size) or does it take longer than that?!!...(ie change for smaller size!)
Sorry for such mundanery, but really don't know what to expect!

beansprout · 25/04/2007 18:00

I would say that a bigger size is a really good thing to have. There is an inbetween stage where your normal clothes are too tight and maternity clothes are too small, so a size up is a very useful thing to have.

Have booked an appt with the dr, but not for a couple of weeks (9th May). Roll on making it that far!

VictorVictoria · 26/04/2007 08:43

God I am sleeping badly. Am hoping this is actually a GOOD THING as it due to all those pregnancy hormones coursing around my bod. Boobs now slightly tender again.

beansprout · 26/04/2007 09:38

Oh me too, VV. Awake since 4.30 again - you?

Am trying to tell myself this is a good symptom like sign, in the same way I try to embrace my waves of nausea. Straws, clutching, etc.

greedygreedyguzzler · 26/04/2007 13:38

i love it i love it i love it!!!!!!!

RGee · 26/04/2007 14:35

Due New Year 08- WOW!!!! I've just sneaked in to have a nosey from the due Jan 07 thread. My lo was born late New Year's Eve (we nearly made it to the first babe of the year) and DH was just as drunk as normal New Year's by pinching my gas and air . Many congrats to you all, and I hope the year passes quickly for you. Best of luck!

Bbabymumma · 26/04/2007 15:09

Afternoon - hope you are all well.

Up since 5.30am - so lie in compared to you beansprout. Not at work today yippee. What is it with the tiredness but can't sleep thing? I'm also eating a lot of cheese. Not sure if the 2 things are related!

I'm having lots of cm which means running terrified to the loo alot. Nice.

Birdseed - keep the bigger trousers. I reckon I didn't need maternity clothes till 3 months 1st time round but there was a definite inbetween stage where I needed baggy.

beansprout · 26/04/2007 15:39

Ah yes, the old CM routine. Am right with you on that one. Combined with a bit of cramping, it's an early pregnancy classic!!

Bbabymumma · 26/04/2007 15:50

Have had many AF's impersonating pg but this is pg impersonating AF!

I know what you all mean about the tired but can't sleep/wake up very early. wonder if some of it is nerves/worrying!

I'm a bit reassured by hearing (mumsnet and elsewhere) about abdominal cramps not necessarily being a bad sign - I have been having back pain on and off for 3 days, which I guess is my version of abdo cramps as I usually get back pain with my period.

Fingers crossed for us all!

What does LO stand for?!

birdseed · 26/04/2007 16:01

ps thanks for the trouser advise!

beansprout · 26/04/2007 16:10

LO = little one.

birdseed · 26/04/2007 16:16

Ah! Thank you!

Imawurzel · 26/04/2007 18:41

Hi all.
Beansprout told me to come and join in.
I found out yesterday.
This is my first.
I did a test on saturday and it was negative, i was 2days late, did one yesterday morning and there was a faint line.
I got a test on way to work and did it last night and that too was positive.
Dh says not to get hopes up (but he is happy as larry)
I am going to docs tomorrow morning before work to see about the next step. They take some blood won't they.
If i did my calculations right(on net) last LMP was 22nd March, baby prob due 27th December.
16 days after my birthday, 11 after DH's.

When do i tell employer???

Imawurzel · 26/04/2007 18:41

Oh, and sorry for long post.

birdseed · 26/04/2007 19:13

Hi Imawurzel,

Sounding good - one faint and one positive, that's what I got and I'm going on the premise that that means we're pregnant!

....congratulations to you!

Really don't know about what comes next as this is my first too. So can't advise on that. But congratulations and welcome!

beansprout · 26/04/2007 19:37

Don't worry, they don't need to take blood. They probably won't even test again, as the home kits are just as good as the tests they use at the surgery. They will ask you to start thinking about which hospital you want to be referred to, if you live somewhere big enough to have a choice that is. I'm in London so it's something I need to think about!

You don't need to tell work for ages yet. Not until the sort of stage where it's a bit obvious anyway.

Oooh, it's very exciting, having a thread. Sort of makes it official (whereas in RL I'm walking around not able to tell anyone!)

Imawurzel · 27/04/2007 06:46

Thanks Birdseed & Beansprout.
My job involves lifting heavy stuff, i work in a spar shop, so d'ya reckon it's still ok to lift all that or avoid it?
Not sure on weight but heaviest i think is an 8 pack of 2litre cokes. and close is a 24 pack of cokes (the 500ml size)
Don't know what to do.
Only 1 hospital here.Unless you wanna travel about 40 miles+ to salisbury.
(not sure how far it is from me)

beansprout · 27/04/2007 08:55

Sorry, I don't know about that. Your employer should carry out a risk assessment when you are pregnant and ensure that you do not have to do any work that may pose any risk to you or your baby. I don't know where lifting comes into that as I don't have to do that. Sorry.

It might be worth starting a thead and asking some others what they think?

How is everyone feeling? A bit sick? A bit tired? A bit nervous?

Bbabymumma · 27/04/2007 11:14

Hi all - how are you? is this week going slowly??

I haven't felt sick this morning so paranoia setting in. You know what its like. Still waking at 5.30 though!

Hiya iamawurzel - try to avoid telling work until as late as possible I think. Are they supportive? how would you feel if things (god forbid) went wrong and colleagues knew about it? Secondly - I told them very early last time and shock horror I had the smallest bonus/payrise ever that year -hmm I wonder why??

Definitely avoid lifting though - can you fake a bad back? Def start a thread and ask.

Your from Dorchester? husband's from Yeovil. Love the West country.

Anyway - hope everyone's all well.

DD throwing tantrum cos I'm not playing. bye bye
