Due at New Year....anyone else?!

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

Skibump - can't remember if this is your first? The really tired feeling does (hopefully) go away for a while in the middle trimester (12-28 weeks). I remember feeling really good in the middle of pregnancy - you have a definite bump, but it is not huge, just nicely pregnant-looking rather than fat! (and sorry if TMI but I felt really randy around that time too...great to have sex without either worrying that you might get pregnant or worrying that you can't!!!)

birdseed · 01/05/2007 17:46

don't know what an 'early pregnancy chat' entails... I will let you know!

Non-first timers - how good did you feel in the 2nd trimester? - we had planned to go cycling in france for a week when I will be almost 4 months. Nothing too hard core and with stuff transported from hotel to hotel, rather than panniers and camping.
What do you think? Am I being too ambitious (if I get that far)? Normally wouldn't be a problem!

Imawurzel · 01/05/2007 18:58

I was told the midwife will contact me in 10 weeks.
I got given the books by a friend. She's got 1DD. TTC #2 now.
I haven't had any nausea yet.
I feel a little bloated but not been eating more. Does anyone else have that?
I'm only 5 weeks 5 days now.
It's scary not knowing what's going on.
I do actually forget that i am pg. Then i remember and i'm like 'ahhh'

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 01/05/2007 20:01

Wurzel - I know what you mean about bloated - I've lost 2lbs, but still feel bloaty - the waistband on my skirt is uncomfortable, like permanent PMT!

Bbabymumma · 02/05/2007 10:19

same here re bloating. I was worried about it. At night I really look pg. I've heard you get big with 2nd quickly. I was worried that I've got my dates wrong because my stomach is vswollen and I threw up this morning. Could be twins??? I'm seeing the gp tomorrow so I'll mention it to her. I'm also needing to eat ALOT of cheese but have also lost 2lb!?

birdseed - I felt fabulous in the 2nd trimester. Not too large, sex drive was mental, not as tired and just blooming. Nausea finally went at about 15 weeks last time so thats coming up to 4 months. Enjoy it, it'll be the last holiday on your own for a while.

Hope you're all well today. End of the week for me at work yippee!

skibump · 02/05/2007 13:33

Hi everyone
Yep bbabymumma, I agree with the getting bigger quicker 2nd time around. Last time you couldn't see anything until I was 4 months gone, last night DH said 'ooo you're showing' and I'm not even 4 weeks yet!!! Was thinking I wouldn't have to buy maternity clothes for the summer - big rethink (Oh God, hadn't even crossed my mind it might be twins, eeek)

Birdseed, I would go for it, as long as you feel ok. I played badminton up to being 5 months and then went skiing last time - took it easy, but once I got to about 12 weeks I wasn't so tired and I felt great. I had a fab doc who said 'just listen to your body, you know best' and that worked really well for me

Re the bloating, I found last time that wheat was the big culprit. I eventually cut it out altogether and that really helped - although fine immediately after the birth

Notmyrealname, I'm intrigued, are you a regular on MN??

skibump · 02/05/2007 13:36

Oh yes, and not feeling sick, but hungry ALL the time.

Bbabymumma · 02/05/2007 13:37

where are you all? enjoying the sunshine?

Bbabymumma · 02/05/2007 13:43

Ah skibump sorry messages crossed! - hello, how are you? I was feeling lonely! My dh was pointing out fat stomach last night. Am considering wearing a very large shawl/scarf/pashmina to work around my middle!? Oh giving up work again. I'm going to start dreaming.

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 02/05/2007 14:06

Skibump - I'm not a famous regular - I do post occasionally, but it just felt wrong somehow telling people when I haven't told my closest friends! (Bizarre pregnancy logic in there....) I used to post quite regularly on a couple of threads, I don't think a lot of the people I used to "talk" to are around now, but until I've told my nearest & dearest I'll stick with my pretend name. There is also the possibility that one of my close friends who occasionally goes on MN would spot who I am - she'd recognise the pics on my profile!

I know we probably haven't all got confirmed EDDs yet, but how about a roll call of (tentative) due dates & family situation to get an idea of who's who? I'll start below, jsut copy, paste and add:

Bbabymumma · 02/05/2007 14:13

oh good idea thisisnotmyrealMNname. (looking forward to finding out your real name. Wanted to put pics of dd on profile but then realised some RL friends come here and then the cat would be out of the bag!)

Hi there Have been on Dec thread but think I am between to two. Is it ok to add myself? BFP on sunday 29th. Dating scan Tuesday 1st May. Estimated 4-5 weeks. Gestational sca seen 4mm x 5mm. Embryo inconclusive as would not be visible at this stage. Next scan 15th May. Have done 4 tests just to make sure.

Off my food, dont like heavy food iykwim. Nervous and excited. Have had fertility treatment - 1st course of clomid - although it doesnt look like the clomid made ov. Achy boobs (dreading them growing as they never went back after ds and are 34G). Already have one DS aged 7. Fingers crossed for all of us xxx

Awen - 30 Dec - 2nd Jan approx!! DS 7 years

Bbabymumma · 02/05/2007 15:06

Awen hello! My old ttc buddy. We were both convinced in March we were but I had a d&v bug. How exciting. So you've had a scan already. I've read it's quite normal to not see anything yet.

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 02/05/2007 15:35

Wow - could be a busy New Year! (DD2 was a couple of weeks early - I'd like that again actually, even though it could mean a Christmas birthday)

The first and last bits of pregnancy always seem the longest - the end because you just want him/her/them out, and the beginning because you are just waiting for proof that something's in there, and that you are also waiting to tell people.

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 02/05/2007 15:36

And hello Awen - have seen you on the December thread as I'm hovering between the two as well!

Bbabymumma · 02/05/2007 15:48

I've been secretly lurking on the dec thread as well. There's more of them over there.

I was almost a week early with dd. A lot nicer than going over I think but slightly surprising. Even more surprising was the 4 hour labour.

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 02/05/2007 15:55

OK, I'll chuck a teddy bear at you.

DD2 went on for a couple of days intermittently. Waters broke Friday, had to stay in hospital overnight as head not engaged and they were concerned about cord prolapse, contractions on and off all night (no sleep as other people on ward started to go into labour big time, overheard brilliant argument with woman and partner about the f*ing TENS machine!!) - home on Saturday, not particularly strong contractions all day, watched Harry Potter DVDs with DD1 before packing her off to auntie's for the night (expecting it all to kick off - no such luck!) - induced by drip Sunday am she arrived in the afternoon (so DH missed the FA cup semi-final - haha!!)

very busy new years eve! How bizarre, must have been something to do with the full moon or something.

thisisnotmyrealMNname - I'm lucky you didn't throw something harder. I bet I get labour from hell this time. Sorry - too early, must not run away with ideas of this sort. Haven't even seen the gp yet.

MamaMaiasaura · 02/05/2007 18:11

I thought about it being the full moon too.. pretty sure i conceived now when me and dp went oh sod it.. lets just have another session for the practice..

I've was getting alot of lower back pain but that seems to have got better, I wake up every night to pee than find it hard to get back to sleep as I'm starving, and in the evenings I already feel a bit queesy. I'm suprised that I'm already feeling affected by my pregnancy as I'm sure I didn't this early in my other pregnancies!
