cameroonmama · 16/04/2007 14:26

constant gardener does it for me..

SOH I think you must be looking at my 17year old neighbour's PC by mistake.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/04/2007 14:29

lg&t, I wouldn't do anything, their mistake not yours. If the shoes were on the counter and she packed them then it's not your fault. NO ONE will come back to you and if they do, then "Oh, Gosh, I'm soooo sorry, I didn't even notice" will do the trick. I had a similar thing in Dec last year when we were in the UK. I bought £20 worth of Waterstones vouchers but asked for them in two gift cards £10 each. When I got home I checked the vouchers and the guy had put two £10 vouchers in each card giving me £40. of vouchers but only charging me for £20. My sister even went in the next day for me and asked for another empty gift card so that I could split the vouchers up. Chin up too chic. Don't feel sad and don't break down, It must be hard being away from home, I feel like you with the clearing up some of the time. Although we all live together perminately I'm still far more aware of clutter and the kids toys around than I would be if we lived in our own house on our own. You probably feel worse for two crap nights sleep.

Madeindevon no, pains doesn't mean anything, there is still plenty of time for things to head down and it really doesn't mean that things will happen any sooner for us. Be thankful, you don't want them, they hurt like hell.

SOH, at the living in London. lol

OP posts:
AbbyLou · 16/04/2007 14:31

Afternoon everyone, hope those pains are not being too tiresome. I've been getting lots of braxton hicks but not getting the lovely fanjo pains yet thank god. After two hours walking round Ikea yesterday I thought my feet and bump were going to explode. It wasn't even that busy (the weather I think) but just the walking did me in. The good point was looking at baby clothes in the huge Next there. I bought ds a cap and the cutest little leather sandals I have ever seen!
Ds is back at the cm today and it feels really weird. He was a little clingy this morning, I think it was because he knew i was not going to work and couldn't understand why. I'm sure he's having a great time though, they were off to Wacky Warehouse for the morning. It feels good to be able to relax with no dh under my feet and no ds to feed/change/entertain etc.
InTheseShoes I'm like you. I keep thinking, oh the kids will just be arriving now, just having assembly now etc. It almost feels naughty to be off when others are at school. I went to a retail park this morning and can never belive how quiet everywhere is when there are no kids. It's like seeing how the world looks when it's not school holidays.
Dejags I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for your lo to turn. I've got no idea whether mine has engaged or not yet althgouh I think things are dropping a little!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/04/2007 14:33

Sounds like I'm the crook on here then. lol I'm not honest, but common, you didn't hide them in your bag or walk out deliberately without paying for them. They will not even notice, trust me, it's all part and parcel of the retail trade thats part of the reason for such a huge mark up on things. It allows for mistakes like that.

LG&T have a (((hug))) my lovely. I'm tearing up at the drop of a hat recently - over nothing. My eyes start to get that stinging sensation and I try and fight any tears back but they just start streaming down my face!!! I wouldn't worry about the shoes, their mistake. However if you feel bad about it give them a ring and explain.

Dejags yes my due dates the 24th! Yet I think she'll be flippin late just to p**s me off lol!

Madeindevon - there will be plenty of time for pain whilst your in labour - enjoy your pain free days my sweet The thing with mine is they catch me of guard at really bad times. I suddenly sort of start doing a little dance, you know the sort you do when you stub your toe and it bloody hurts to shake of the pain? Imagine that, 34 weeks pregnant with a look of constipation and worry on my face and that's me! And it always happens infront of people too, not a good look!

Aren't we all just the sexiest beasts to waddle the earth!

InTheseShoes · 16/04/2007 15:25

AbbyLou, I know exactly how you feel! When DS goes back tomorrow, I will feel it even more. I have asked DH to take him so that I don't have to see my children or thier parents or any of the staff - although he is working away the rest of the week, so I will have to then. It's not that I don't want to see them, I do - too much really, I love my job, as much as I'm happy to be off as I was getting too big and uncomfortable to do it much longer!

AbbyLou · 16/04/2007 15:44

I know what you mean. I haven't got the same problem as you with children going to school but I have got a few things I know I need to take in and don't know when to do it. At this stage last time I was still working and planned to do so until 38 weeks - that was when the Christmas holidays started. Unfortunately ds had other ideas and I never did finish work officially. That was strange because I never got to say goodbye to the kids, parents or my colleagues. At least this time I am actually having some maternity leave before the baby comes!

anneme · 16/04/2007 15:58

LG&T - it must be tough for you not being in your own space. However nice relatives are, you always feel that you have to tiptoe around a bit. I know what you mean about the c-section. I got a letter from the hosp on fri confirming the date (9/5) of my cs and asking me to come in the day before for an appt. I was really miserable after that. I know that with a transverse baby it is necc and I am trying to turn it but I also know that (I think a bit like you) having had a big baby who caused trouble on the way out last time, they will be keen on a cs even if baby is head down. What I find hard is that people don't seem to understand that I want a natural childbirth with birthing pools and music etc. That is what I had last time and it was brilliant - despite the patchwork at the end....humph.

Better go - got to take DS to the surgery to have stitches removed from his lip. OUCH. Have bought a lolly to cheer him up. Forgot to buy anything to cheer me up but think there might be a creme egg on the mantelpiece in the bedroom - will go and investigate.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/04/2007 16:12

Annemme - good luck with ds and the removal of the stitches. It's not nearly as traumatic for them as the putting in. Maddie was as good as gold for hers coming out. Lolly is a good idea, bless him

OK It's snowing here!!!. It's April 16, and it's snowing!! I really don't believe in global warming anymore. We are in a state of emergency over here.

juliewoolie · 16/04/2007 17:18

Hi all,

for gods sake dont worry about he clarks shoe thing one pair cost the earth they are manolo blahniks for kids.

Yep I too feel weepy loads of the time my poor Df just wanders off with a look of oh god here she goes again.

Thanks for the kind words about the hospital thing ironically 2 minutes after writing that yesterday went to the toilet and it started again so have just got back from the Royal London after another 24 hours of listening to women in early labour and sweltering in the furnace they call a ward. But how weird is this they have patient line telly thing in the actual labour ward but on the ward where you might get stranded for weeks leading up to the birth they have a dingy room with telly the size of a postage stamp.

Right I am off to properly order everything i could possibly need from Boots online then am going to start packing a bag this weekend has really made me realise how much crap I want with me in hospital. Has anyone got any thoughts on good things to take in my hospital bag.

aprilmeadow · 16/04/2007 18:14

Hi all

Pleased to see that no more babies have managed to escape!

Welcome to the newcomers.

Nice to see you back LW.

Congrats to Sunnysam thats brilliant news.

Lupins, so pleased to hear that the bf is going well and that Arlen has gained weight.

MrsJB, thank you for my birthday card. Had a busy day as the world decided to come visit.

LG&T, thank you for your card, it arrived this morning.

Yay to all of you ladies who are starting maternity leave. I hope you get more time of than i did. Think i managed 1 offical working day as the Fri/Mon were bank holidays.

Cant believe that this time last week i was pregnant and totally un-aware that by the end of the day i would be in hospital and only a few hours away from giving birth.

Ella is doing really well. Was weighed yesterday and is 5lbs 5oz. They're coming back tomorrow to weigh again. She is still feeding every three hours and latches on brilliantly. No sore nips (or peoples as Jack calls them) for me yet. She is sleeping at night as well. Wakes once or twice, feeds and goes straight back to sleep. This is just so different to wheni had ds. He would sleep unless he was rocked/pushed/held. Ella will sleep happily on her chair, in fact she has been there for 3 hours now! DS is learning to be gentle although can still be a little heavy handed with her.

I saw someone mention bf tops earlier...... I can thoroughly reccommend H&M. They are 9.99 and come in 5 colours i think (well i have 5). Black, White, Brown, Pink&White stripe & Green&White stripe. I was happily feeding Ella and no one even knew what i was doing. It was great

Loving the p&t, so pleased with the choice. Have been out for several walks already and people are surprised that there are two of them on the buggy!

Anyway, must dash as Ella is starting to wake for her feed.

ttfn xxx

InTheseShoes · 16/04/2007 18:23

AM - it's the H and M tops I've got! Brown, white and green/white stripe! Bargaineous at £9.99 and great to hear that they actually work too!

Well done Ella on the weight and well done you for having a great first week as a mummy of two

SKYTVADDICT · 16/04/2007 18:46

Hi all

My DDs don't go back to school until Thursday as they didn't break up until the day before Good Friday. We have been on a picnic with friends today which was very nice. Its been quite warm and sunny but not as nice as yesterday.

Re the pains I have been getting the shooting ones (DD2 paniced a bit this morning when I doubled over) and what I thought were Braxton Hicks - again last night for 4/5 hours and they were quite painful so yet again I thought this was it only to go to sleep and wake up this morning with them having gone! Something must be happening slowly.

Congrats on the feeding AM - I found this with DD2 also - it just seemed so much easier - obviously hoping for the same with DS1 (first time I have typed that!!) but will be open minded.

Hope you feel better soon LG&T, being away from home must be difficult - def don't worry about the shoes - their fault, not your and like somebody said if they do contact you, you can say "oops sorry hadn't realised".

Welcome to proper mat leave In the Shoes and Abbylou, I am really looking forward to the DDs going back later in the week, although they are being very good and playing out lots.

AbbyLou · 16/04/2007 18:56

Forgto to say earlier, got my Tens machine today from Boots. Dh and I will be getting it out tonight to make sure we know what we're doing with it. I think I can remember from last time but need a refresher.

JonahB · 16/04/2007 19:29

Hi all,

Well, much to my utter humiliation, i bumped my car last thursday, driving back from a customer meeting. Cue: total panic from company who clearly had images of heavily prgt lady suing company who "make" her drive back 3 hours from a meeting. Personally, the only reaction it has created in me is one of general embarrassment, but i did have the US HSE manager gently laughing when i told her i was pgt, saying "Ah, so THAT'S why everyone is so worried about you then".

Glad to hear everything is going so well with Ella!!

Intheseshoes, if you are bored, you are more than welcome to come round to mine and pack my hosp bag, prepare the nursery, find all the baby stuff in the attic...etc...etc. I hope the bump is planning to hang on at least another 14 working days.....

scootermum · 16/04/2007 19:33

Hope everyone is ok cest soir...

Pebblemum · 16/04/2007 23:04

evening all

Just thought id pop on to say quickly.

Baby still breech despite me practically living on all fours to try to turn her, braxton hicks are happening nearly all day every day and are getting quite strong, and im huge. On Sunday i had two people comment on how big i looked and i was wearing black which is supposed to be slimming. Ive also been getting the same type of pains as the rest of you even though i know its not through LO being engaged (unless shes trying to boot her way out)

Im getting very nervous about seeing consultant next week, I dont want him to have to turn her manually and i dont want a cs but as all my efforts so far have failed to work each scenario is looking more and more likely I am trying to stay positive though, theres still time for her to move and at least with a planned CS i will know in advance when she will be born and wont have the worry of when to phone DH to tell him im in labour. Dh works nights (my labour always starts at night) and its about 30mins drive from our house, he gets dirty so would have to come home, wash and change and then its 20-30mins drive to hospital and as the midwife thinks this labour will be quicker than ds2 at 5,5hrs Ive been worrying about how quickly i would need to call him. I would hate to phone him and then it turn out to be a false alarm but then again i would hate to leave it so long that the baby is delivered in the car So in that respect a CS would save a lot of hassle, still dont want one though

As of today i have 37 days left until EDD (im counting them down)my bags are packed, the baby clothes are all washed and ironed, she has enough nappies (courtesy of MIL and Tesco Clubcard) to last her at least 6wks, and im getting fed up with being pregnant (this heat doesnt help either, thank god i wont be pregnant in the summer this time around) The ds's cant wait to meet the baby and poor dh is getting fed up with me crying at the least little thing

I think we have finally decided on names for this LO (we chose both boys and girls names just in case)

For a girl we like Alana-May
For a boy Deacon George

Funnily enough both of them were on our short list of names for ds2 and despite looking at lots of other names we have come back to them once again (Dh did still want to use the name Trinity ie The Matrix but i won that arguement lol)

Anyway im off to bed, hope everyone sleeps well and i may get to pop on here for a chat some time tomorrow. (ive got health visitor coming round to give me my new baby record book, makes it seem all the more real lol)

scootermum · 17/04/2007 09:59

Well I will be sending you very positive baby turning vibes Pebble..lovely names by the way..

Was at work till 10.30 last night and didnt get home till 11.40.My Mum is here to 'help' with DD this week as knew would have to work late some of the nights to get everything done..I still ended up having to take dd to CM's this morn however as My Mum wasnt dressed in time!Cmon woman, buck your ideas up!Hopefully she will have cleaned the house top to bottom and made about 10 nutritious and delicious meals for the freezer for after the baby comes, by the time I get home today..well one can dream...Actually I think she is jsut glad to be away from my Dad for a bit-he is being a total PITA at the moment as he fell over whilst walking the Dog last week-honestly you'd think he'd been mortally injured the way he's been going on..Mother was desperate to come to ours to get away I think!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 17/04/2007 10:06

Morning........

Had very vivid dreams last night. Woke up crying with dh asking me what the matter was. lol I dreamt that I had baby on our bathroom floor and no one knew what to do. We didn't even know how to call an ambulance, We are 45mins from the hospital so I think it makes me worry incase things are quick. At least I don't have a dh working nights and needing to get home before etc, like you pebble. There is still time, you may be pleasently surprised or very shocked like I was. Everything turned out ok in the end, I had a little boy who was tiny and curled up like a cat in the bottom of his pram when we were out. He only needed BF at normal meal times 3 times a day and he slept the rest of it.

Pebble your names are lovely, both of your middle names are the same as the ones we've chosen, but spelt differently.

Sorry about your car JonahB

Hope you got a better night with dd scoot

AM, fab news on Ella doing so well, I'm so pleased the bf is proving easier than with J, I know you had your aprehensions about it!

OP posts:
aprilmeadow · 17/04/2007 10:09

Pebble, sending you lots of baby turning vibes. Lovely names btw!

MrsJB, but how cool would that be if they only needed feeding at regular meal times.... Just think how much time you would have for MN

[Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz]

[Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz]

Why am I so exhausted?

scootermum · 17/04/2007 10:52

I am too SOH... cant wait for the end of this week now!I am worse than useless at work..

'ere, April if you are still on-send me your address if you like? As have a preemie cardie for Ella-bought it by mistake for DD...can then pop in post for you..
[email protected]...

Thats what I want Mrs JB, one like in your dream that wakes up thrice daily and thats it..Or it could be awake a bit longer but it must behave itself when it is..
DD woke up only once in the night but DH got up with her as it was certainly his turn and I dont think I could've even id wanted to-was half dead!

Baby Mae feels very low at the moment-almost like she will drop out any minute..she cant, she's got to wait till ive finished my NVQ.It will be a race to see which gets delivered first-my completed portfolio or the baby..currently I would bet on the baby as I am heartily sick of the other!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 17/04/2007 10:56

Sleep well SOH, it's crap isn't it, I feel sick and tired today, I've disposed dd into the garden, shut the gates and told ds to watch her. Bad Mommy, I just can't stand out there today, It's hot and I need to lay down. They are not completely on their own, nandad is down the veggie plot and dh is making a 5 bar gate out of an old palate. But they are doing something else and I don't know about anyone elses men but the ones in this household appear only able to do one thing at a time so will be completely oblivious to what h&m are doing.

Not long left at work SOH and you can replace that filing cabinet with a nice comfy bed.

OP posts:
Pebblemum · 17/04/2007 10:56

Morning all

It appears I have the whole street waiting for this baby to be born, all the children keep coming up and asking if its here yet, one of the dh's got all excited the other night because he saw me stood at the front door with a bag in my hand and talking to my sister (he thought i was off to hospital), the size of my bump seems to be the daily topic and ds2's little friend woke up the other night calling out about me and my baby. The neighbours i am closest to have even been arguing amongst themselves what present they are going to buy the baby when shes born, the wife wants to buy a bangle and the husband has seen a big teddy he wants to buy (hes already bought the baby a present for Christmas because it was a bargain and he didnt know of anyone else who would be young enough to play with it lol)

I had a rough night last night, at first i could not get comfortable and then i found that if i was lying too flat i felt as though i was going to be sick, ended up sleeping in a very strange position and so now I have terrible back ache. Dh tried to be sympathetic but he was half asleep and it didnt quite work . He is now at golf and im hoping that by the time the HV has been round and Ds2 is at pre-school i will still have enough time on my own to relax in peace before he returns. After the hassle of trying to amuse kids for two weeks while heavily pregnant, trying to keep the house tidy when there are about 10 kids in and out all day and being very hormonal i could do with a couple of hours to myself, bet it doesnt work like that though
