Glad you like your midwife Lou - I have my booking in on Thurs and hope I can say the same!

Interesting on the alcohol too. I wonder what they're basing that on. Obv am avoiding alcohol but I am getting so stressed over what other things I can/can't eat and drink at the moment. All I fancy tonight is a Chinese but made the mistake of Googling...

Rkay2 · 31/07/2017 19:23

Hi everyone.

Hope you feel better soon orange!
I am more like onceuponamama - I just seem to have all day nausea. If I keep eating I feel better but if I keep eating my stomach bloats and is so unconfortable.

I can barely sleep at night with waking up constantly. It all seems to have come full force at 6weeks!

My booking appointment and scan appointment were sent through in the post from the hospital. Booking at 8 weeks and scan at 13weeks.

I'm glad I have a few weeks off from work!

SheSaidHeSaid · 31/07/2017 19:33

Interesting about the latest no alcohol guidelines.

Since I found out I was pregnant I've had one shandy, which I didn't enjoy. I used to love a little drink but just don't want to risk anything any more.

@Elbi I'd get the Chinese, doubt there's much they do that's on the foods to avoid list. Just check everything is thoroughly cooked.

LouLouLoupee · 31/07/2017 19:39

These stickers are all over my notes, don't recall seeing them last time round

Flatwhite31 · 31/07/2017 19:57

@Onceuponamama and @Rkay2 I get days when my nausea is all day. Today is one of those days. All I want to eat is salty chips, crisps and white carbs. I don't think I've actually put any weight on yet as, overall, I'm just not eating properly. I don't think there's much we can do though apart from wait it out Sad.

Flatwhite31 · 31/07/2017 19:58

@Elbi what's wrong with the Chinese? I've had one since finding out (I was 6 weeks at the time). Is it the MSG?

hometownunicorn · 31/07/2017 20:18

@OrangeCloud18 that sounds awful, I hope you're feeling a bit better now.

The alcohol/adhd link is interesting, although from a cursory search the evidence seems to be based on injecting pregnant rats with alcohol and studies of foetal alcohol syndrome (which is associated with ADHD). The problem is that there's no good evidence about small amounts of alcohol in pregnancy and so the guidance seems to have gone to a blanket no as women apparently can't be trusted to understand what moderation actually is. Emily Oster is quite good on this in Expecting Better.

I'm not suggesting we should all get pissed but I'm yet to see anything that convinces me that I shouldn't have a small glass of wine with dinner occasionally. At some future point when I stop feeling sick that is... I could only eat half my dinner this evening because I feel so rotten. It kicks in from about 5, so I guess at least I'm not trying to deal with it at work.

Drizz · 31/07/2017 20:49

Place marking. I am struggling to keep up. But I had a good scan today at 8+1 so I want to get to know you all. Perhaps in second trimester!

FuzzyOwl · 31/07/2017 20:49

Sounds horrendous Orange. So glad you went in and the hospital has helped.

Great news about your scan Tea.

That's interesting Lou.

Elbi · 31/07/2017 21:13

Flatwhite I think it's one of those things where if you weren't ill at the time then you're all good. Mostly stuff about bean sprouts potentially harbouring bacteria. All killed off by proper cooking though. I went for it and just left out the bean sprouts, probably needlessly.

Hometownunicorn I'm reading Emily Oster currently - seems to be a good voice of reason!

Drizz welcome! I can't keep up either but so far people don't seem to mind!

Flatwhite31 · 31/07/2017 21:19

Ahhh I see @Elbi. My order doesn't have beansprouts in it anyway Smile. Glad you still got to enjoy your meal.

I'm off to bed now, am shattered! Night lovely ladies. X

Poochieblue · 31/07/2017 22:24

Hey, just have either been too busy, too nauseous or too tired the last 2days to keep up on here so just had a good catch up. Can't remember who said what (is that placenta brain kicking in already or was I just this crap anyway? Blush)

@orange, so sorry to hear you've been so poorly! Glad you're home now with OH as well! Useful info as well so thank you!

@zyla so sorry you're feeling like this! Big hand hold!

My boobs haven't gone up in size yet but do feel fuller, they are sore constantly but to more and less degrees so I too am finding myself groping them constantly (must remember NOT to do it at my desk! Blush)
I would love to be able to pop to primark for some soft bras but am already a G cup so it's full price online only for me and I weep for my bank balance! 😢😢

I have also resorted to the hair and trick on a few occasions but am struggling for long, suitable for work tops to cover my bloat!!

Still can't cope with the thought of having to wait till the 5th sept for my next scan. Really am contemplating booking a private one but I know DH would literally go nuts, and then I keep thinking I could go on my own/with a friend but then if something was wrong how would I explain it to him?!
Why is this "supposed to be wonderful" time so god damn hard?!

And to the lady that was dismissed as imagining your symptoms.... I have that constantly at home!! If he doesn't roll his eyes at me then he's got the same symptom!!! If he lives to the end of this pregnancy it'll be a bloody miracle!! 😳😂😳😡

Excited1203 · 01/08/2017 08:30

That sounds awful @OrangeCloud, I hope you don't have this for too long, did they say if it's expected to ease up at the end of first trimester or do they not know?

TeaAndPjs · 01/08/2017 08:49

poochie shirts are great for hiding bloat :) I found this out yesterday

whereareyousleep · 01/08/2017 09:58

Well I've graduated from constant nausea to now actually being sick oh the joys of pregnancy feel very rough today Confused

mamasiz · 01/08/2017 10:11

Hi all - rough night spent in A&E after passing a blood clot. Appointment booked at EPAU for tomorrow morning. Thinking positive thoughts and staying in bed all day!

Scoobygang7 · 01/08/2017 10:13

@mamasiz thinking of you fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Midwife appointment this morning I guess will make it feel a little more real.

mamasiz · 01/08/2017 10:16

Thanks @Scoobygang7 - hope your midwife appointment goes well x

whyhastherumgone · 01/08/2017 10:50

oh @mamasiz you must be shattered. Hope the rest of the wait until tomorrow goes quickly and keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed for positive news :)

Poochieblue · 01/08/2017 11:08

@whereareyousick
There may be something in the air as my dry wretching has now graduated to full on sickness. At work! Blush feel gross!!!

On the plus side there is more chance of me being able to throw up on unsupportive DH now!! Shock

KerryLeanne84 · 01/08/2017 11:17

@Poochieblue I think you should make it your mission to throw up on him

mamasiz · 01/08/2017 12:36

Thankyou @whyhastherumgone - absolutely shattered! Having plenty of bedrest and cat cuddles today while I wait x

NorthernBelly · 01/08/2017 12:57

Haven't been here for a while, feeling absolutely exhausted and it's taking all my strength to just keep functioning. Good news is I have had a second scan and now have an official EDD of 10th March 😊. I've also got my booking in app this Thurs at 8:30am. Then a second app at 10:30am - not sure if this is a mistake or if I have to see two different people? It might be to do with my recurrent miscarriage or thyroid issues. Going to try to get off the sofa in a min, going out for lunch with OH, 2 yr old DD and one of my husband's friends who doesn't know I'm pregnant. Will try to look a bit more energetic and enthusiastic about eating.

@mamasiz, hope everything is settling down, fingers crossed for tomorrow. How are things now?

Flatwhite31 · 01/08/2017 13:02

@mamasiz, hope things have settled now. Keeping everything crossed for you for tomorrow.
@NorthernBelly I'm also eating out today, and it's this evening when I always feel at my worst! Neither of the people I'm going with know I'm pregnant. I've already looked at the menu though, and I think I'll be going for something fairly bland like a fish finger sandwich.
