Checking in! 15 weeks today and actually managing to stay up beyond 2030!

In London today and missing my old stomping grounds. 😓😓

theotherendofthesockportal · 01/06/2017 12:45

Checking in,16 weeks today, already around the size of a small elephant. Looking forward to find out the gender on Saturday 💙💛💗

lydiangel83 · 01/06/2017 12:50

Marking my place! Work getting me down so hoping to sneak off for a lunchtime walk in the sun to cheer up buy myself some expensive beauty products

Topsyloulou · 01/06/2017 13:30

Thanks for the new thread Ginger. 16+4 here. Eagerly awaiting midwife appointment next week & getting to the heartbeat! I've got a little bump but not big enough for most of my maternity clothes yet.

Hazandduck · 01/06/2017 13:35

Checking in, thanks Ginger! Love the post name :) How have we come so far so quickly!

Izibee in reply to your last post yes this is my first baby and I have no idea what I'm doing or what is right/normal 🙈 I was so focused on getting to the 12 week mark and it being ok I don't think I really thought I would get this far and then have to seriously think about actual real-life parenthood! X

Hazandduck · 01/06/2017 13:46

Think I have updated the spreadsheet with my details! Not sure, I'm using a pretty ancient PC as had problems doing it on my phone.

AGnu · 01/06/2017 14:53

Thanks Ginger!

I'm 15+5 & thought I'd felt movement for a few days around 13w but then nothing until last night when I ate ice-cream & had a few faint possible squirmy feelings & one twitch that may have been a kick. I guess in my mind I'm remembering the proper kick feelings from further along & struggling to compare the 2. I've not really had any bubbly feelings that couldn't be explained by wind though. Hopefully everything's ok...! They said nothing about the position of the placenta so I'm assuming it's not likely to be blocking the kicks.

I'm being completely useless at looking after myself right now. While we were away we all ate 3 meals a day together, with very little prep work needed. Now that we're back home, I'm feeding the DC but not really feeling like eating at the same time - mostly because they insist on having bananas for lunch & I can't be in the same room as that smell. Then I can't think what I actually want to eat & by the time I've got sufficiently hungry to just pick something I can't face the thought of preparing anything so end up eating crisps just to ease the nausea. I really need to come up with some quick & easy things to eat but bread makes me queasy & I've never really been a lunch sort of person anyway... or a breakfast person... I feel really guilty that I'm not giving my baby a varied enough diet. It'll be well-fed once it's weaned - My DC have a really healthy diet & DS1 often tells me that he'll only have a small amount of something sugary because "it's not really a healthy choice"! I'm sure I'm supposed to be moving past the nausea & getting some energy...

My anxiety is playing up too which isn't really helping things. We're discussing the possibility of moving all our bedrooms around so we'd end up in a slightly smaller room because our furniture will fit around the chimney breast & the DSs will share the biggest room. All well & good but my brain is panicking at the practicalities - which furniture do we move first? How much time will DH need to take off? How many other people will we need to draft in to help? How will we empty the big room enough to be able to clean the carpet? What about the tiny spots of mould on the wallpaper that have been there since we moved in? What if the mould goes right through into the plaster? We've not got the time/energy/money to redecorate the room, let alone get a plasterer in. We do have well-off relatives who'd be more than happy to help but I hate having to go to them for hand-outs. We're already half hoping they'll offer us money for a bigger car! I've been looking into re-mortgaging but I can't seem to get the options straight in my mind. Everything just seems so complicated right now! I wish we could send the DC off to stay with relatives & DH take a month off work & we could get everything sorted! Blah. I'm going to go eat ice cream & make my stomach hurt instead of my brain! Blush

AGnu · 01/06/2017 14:56

Sorry, that was a bit long! Blush I'm sure none of these things are actually that big of a deal but they just feel like insurmountable obstacles right now. I'll forget about them in a few days... I've really got to stop planning things that we're not thinking of doing until August anyway & start organising DS2's birthday which is next week! I really am failing at prioritising! Blush

organixeveryday · 01/06/2017 15:37

15 weeks tomorrow , and feeling pretty good , such a contrast to my last pregnancy 🤢🤢🤢
This pregnancy is really flying by too, keeping busy with my toddler and lots of other bits too , a nice change to not have to be engaging with solicitors and police on a daily basis (thanks dickhead ex).

tmc14 · 01/06/2017 15:40

Marking my place... thanks for the new thread Ginger.
I'm 16 weeks tomorrow, midwife appointment on Monday. Waiting for next scan date...
AGnu- I'm having to work hard on my anxiety at the moment, no specific reasons, just overwhelmed with everything I think. Easier said than done but take all the help available & you can't move heavy furniture anyway so let someone else worry about that!!

lydiangel83 · 01/06/2017 17:54

I'm really stressed at work at the moment @tmc14 and only going to get worse, coupled with general anxiety - wondering if the doctors could help. I don't think there are any sleeping tablets you can take but would love to not be awake every night worrying!

izzibee29 · 01/06/2017 19:30

Hello thread 3 - gosh we might make it to double figures by the end ladies. I'm 15+2 today. Looking forward to seeing midwife next week. Also have a really fun girlie glamping trip with a friend who's due in Aug, we've named it part of our bucket list before bump pops, next thing on the list will be seeing Adele later this month.

Is anyone else doing anything for the first time before baby comes?

butterybollocks · 01/06/2017 19:43

Thanks for the new thread :)

I had my appt at the hypertension clinic today - my blood pressure was actually just below the threshold for a high reading which means they've discharged me, no treatment needed... Phew. They were so nice and reassuring and just said if it goes up, not to worry, they will treat it.

I have a blood test appt for the second attempt at nipt. Have been googling and have totally freaked myself out about it - worrying about this one coming back inconclusive too.

AGnu I totally get what you mean Re anxiety and having a massive insurmountable list of things to sort out. I'm basically avoiding it and delaying tackling any of it.

lydiangel83 · 01/06/2017 21:25

@izzibee29 no bucket list although I like that idea! We have 4 or 5 weekends away planned, mostly to Italy (my dad lives there) with friends / family so just trying to fit in lots of fun things!

Also trying to maintain the philosophy that we can still have fun and be adventurous post-baby! (So she says now lol!)

pomadas87 · 01/06/2017 22:32

Marking my ace! Hope you're all doing well?
I'm 15+5 today and feeling good Smile I told work yesterday and they've asked me to supply a MAT 1B form from my midwife - has anyone else had this? Assuming I need to request it as I didn't get anything at booking in appointment at 9 weeks

pomadas87 · 01/06/2017 22:33

Place not ace!!

DryHeave · 02/06/2017 05:28

Hi all, 15 weeks here. Gargantuan boobs and tummy starting to poke out. Got a family wedding this weekend, so will no doubt be having lots of pregnancy/baby talk with all the far-flung relatives.

pomadas - my midwife said the Mat 1B forms don't get given out till after 20 weeks and as the next appointment isn't till 24 weeks, it'll be around then. The midwife did say that HR pester for them but you can only provide it once you've got it!

GingerHanna · 02/06/2017 07:29

Annnnnndddddddd breathe AGnu! How are you feeling this morning? Sounds like it's all got a bit overwhelming all at once?

That's a proper baby bump there organix... nice one! Mine is here and DSis is pestering for pics. Haven't taken any yet but guess I should do at some point.

I've booked a private scan for next Thursday evening. Hoping we can find out the gender before our holiday. I'll be 16+6 so if LO isn't being modest we should be able to see!

Buttery Have the midwifery team recommended taking aspirin? I'm on 75mg a day.

Feel asleep at about 7 last night. Just had a mammoth 12 hour sleep (with wee and baby settling breaks!).

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 02/06/2017 08:02

15+5 and checking in.
I feel like a total blob at the moment, but the bump isn't actually that big.

I think part of it is my bra, I went and got measured over the weekend and have gone from a 32DD to a 36E, but the band feels enormous. I probably would have been happier with a 34 but the sales woman insisted I'll grow into the band, so I'm just feeling really uncomfortable as it rides around. Don't really want to spend more money on something that won't last though, and I suspect a 32F or whatever I'll need wouldn't be cheap.

Zampa · 02/06/2017 08:19

Where did you get measured Nice?

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 02/06/2017 08:25

Debenhams, which I've never been sure about but there was no queue and the sports bra type things I was wearing were giving me backache.
That's actually stopped over the last week, so clearly having something a bit more supportive is helping, but I'm used to most of the support coming from the band in my bra so it all feels a bit weird at the moment.

The lady who measured said that in pregnancy you have to buy a bra and work from the smallest hook to the largest, rather than largest down as the bra stretches which is the usual way, so currently she said that I'm more of a 35 than an 36.
I guess I just find it hard to believe that my ribs have grown this much in only a few weeks!
That said, I'm also starting to get flat feel and can see my arches have dropped, so whatever hormone relaxes everything must be working overtime for me.
I hope this means the baby will just drop out when the time comes! Grin

thecrab · 02/06/2017 09:07

I didn't do nct classes with my last pregnancy but considering it with this one. Is it worth it? Truthfully I only want to do them so I can meet other mums as I have no mum friends (I know it's a pretty expensive way to try and make friends)

lydiangel83 · 02/06/2017 09:20

I got measured in John Lewis and spent £80 on three bras but hopefully will last and had the same advice as @NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown altho have only changed from 36B to 36C!

lydiangel83 · 02/06/2017 09:21

@thecrab the only reason I am doing NCT is to meet buy some friends. I hope I meet some nice people as am really worried about being lonely. I have lots of friends but none nearby or with kids!
