Sorry you're still feeling sick teaspoon that's rotten.

badger I found I needed a bra under the vest at night to keep the breast pads in place, might just be my badly behaved boobs though. Nothing worse than waking up soaking!

I'm getting stretchy bras then will measure myself and order some more structured ones online after a few weeks. My boobs didn't change massively but I think my back size will retract again so holding off for now.

We did mostly BLW too, I definitely could not be arsed to make purée! And agree with mcbaby stuff like weetabix and yoghurt I did spoon feed until he was a bit more competent with feeding himself with a spoon. Also shocked DM with this 🙄 he does eat pretty well now but does go through phases of not liking something he had previously eaten. However I still usually end up doing 2 dinners as he eats at 5!

jenny my nipples were agony for my entire first pregnancy, from before BFP until he was born. This time they seem to have toughened up a bit thanks to BF no doubt!

teainbed · 04/04/2017 11:45

I loved making purée! Loads of the vegetable ones make nice soups and sweeter ones can be added to porridge or yoghurt. Again depending on the baby they can dip bread or veg or chips into them or just smush handfuls of them messily into their faces. Grin

PeachIcedT · 04/04/2017 11:51

Phew I thought the cooled boiled bath water thing was hugely OTT - not really what a new parent needs on top of the sleep deprivation. And it's to kill off bacteria in the water but what about all the bacteria from the pooey nappy? I will not be following the advice!

I looked about 5 months pregnant too after giving birth. Only took about 10 days to go down though. It was maternity leggings and tunics in the early days for me. Def take comfy loose clothes, especially as it may end up being a c section.

We started weaning DD on holiday when she was 6 months. I've got great pictures of her stuffing slices of avocado and whole strawberries into her mouth. We ended up doing a mix of BLW and our meals pureed up. She's a great little eater now, but I don't take any credit for it. I know some toddlers who were happily munching away on broccoli at 12 months who now will only eat beige freezer food and sweets Cake

1004Rise · 04/04/2017 12:16

Ok so I should be good with those clothes, it'll make me feel better if I can close my bag Smile

Next random question when you send the baby to nursery (getting so far ahead of myself now) do they feed the baby how you ask them to?

Sounds like however you wean them it's messy.... guess the dogs new favourite spot will be under the high chair HmmGrin

teainbed · 04/04/2017 12:16

Sadly that is true too Esme! Despite all the amazing weaning foods they ate when small all of mine have had spells where they've been utterly awful at it too!

I've just filled a bin bag full of maternity clothes I'm not going to wear again. Mainly work stuff but some of it is threadbare as I've worn them to death.

savagehk · 04/04/2017 12:23

They should, but we didn't go to a nursery until after age 2.
Dogs love baby led weaning :D We didn't have one, though, so used an old shower curtain under the high chair. Also worth noting IKEA's cheap Antilop high chair is easy to clean....

1004Rise · 04/04/2017 12:32

@savagehk I've had that advice about the ikea chair before... apparently that plus hosepipe in the back garden is a good solution Smile

nursebickypegs · 04/04/2017 13:22

any mums on iron tablets here find they aren't working? Been put on them 4 times a day and I'm still super struggling. I'm so hormonal today and I want to cry out of frustration by my lack of energy and nothing tasting nice.

@WishIWasSleeping my plan is to do BLW and purée; coming from my teenage years where I lived off ready meals as my parents worked, I'm so proud that I make everything from scratch where I can, and I want to do this for Bub too. We don't have room for a high chair at the moment, so I'm going to keep a look out in the next few months. BLW looks great for things like veg, pasta etc. I'm going to purée fruits and things.

@RasperryInAMelon I figured out that if I'm going by the EDD on the US & growth chart, I've got 4 weeks until he's here. I'm purposely taking long showers, drinking tea and sleeping in the day as a final hurrah! We got an offer through virgin today saying we can get Sky Movies for free for 6 months, so I'm tempted to sign up.

Mums looking for BF friendly PJS and vests, Primark and New Look have great selections. I've had to size up in Primark PJs (they look huge on me but they are button down) and the NL vests are lovely. I have a long torso and bump and it covers them nicely.

DM was "teasing" (Hmm) me about changing nappies and can I do it. I think she forgets I've been a nurse for 10 years, and if I can change a pad single handed on a bed bound dementia patient, I think I can manage with a baby. I'm going to eat my words aren't I? Grin I'm a bit of a clean-obsessive, so I'm worried I won't get him clean enough after a poo explosion! We have a changing table which switches to a bath and we have an angel care seat too.

EsmesBees · 04/04/2017 14:10

rise yes they should feed them as you want. My DD started nursery at the same time as one of my NCT friends and the nursery pureed the normal meals for my friend's baby. They do what you ask with regards to milk too.

Nurse if you've got less space you might be better off with a booster seat so she can sit at the table rather than a high chair.

I bought a square of plastic table cloth from the pound shop to put under the high chair when weaning.

savagehk · 04/04/2017 14:16

A bumbo with tray is also a possibility at first, but of course never leave baby unattended while in it if it's on something high.

Rustler74 · 04/04/2017 14:28

Mind you, Bumbo is only recommended if your baby can already sit on his/ her own. Otherwise it encourages a very bad back and pelvic posture, and combined with that a slump which will make swallowing very difficult.

WishIWasSleeping · 04/04/2017 14:29

@nursebickypegs - I gave broccoli, parsnip, carrot batons.. graspable stuff as whole for BLW, also puréed some of the same..
puréed peas always went down well, however actual peas now she's older tend to fly around the room... Grin
I used breast milk in the purées to start with, which is probably why I ran out a bit faster than I thought I would.
I kept off the fruit for a month or two, until I stopped putting BM in the purée and she still ate it!

savagehk · 04/04/2017 14:37

Indeed Rustler, but I think one of the signs baby is ready for food is sitting on their own? May have forgotten the details.

Autumnsweater · 04/04/2017 15:08

Still no scan appointment Angry
They didn't even ring today, I rang them at one.
I tried to complain and also put it on a bit about how stressed it was making me - and ended up crying Blush. Guess it's getting to me more than I thought Sad. Just kept saying they didn't have any power over how many urgent scan appts were made available. I rang ultrasound directly yesterday about it and they were so rude and they blamed maternity! So noone will take any responsibility.
So then I tried to ring PALS and it went straight to answer machine.

I'm super keen on BLW seems like common sense and much less faff. Not actually looked into it though beyond seeing other people doing it.

@nursebickypegs I feel the same, if I can deal with a haemorrhagic diarrhoea case trampling through it all at 3am (and getting it on its giving set 😷) I'll manage some shitty nappies!

newbieho · 04/04/2017 15:11

@Autumnsweater !this is really bad, I can imagine how upset you are. It may sound extreme but maybe it is worth to visit to A&E? Will they be able to help?

nursebickypegs · 04/04/2017 15:13

Thanks @savagehk @Rustler74. A bumbo is something we have considered; we have a tiny kitchen and no where to store the high chair when not in use. Our dining room needs to become a dining room again as it's currently the library/study.

Love the idea of breast milk in the food @WishIWasSleeping! Genius! I never ever would have considered that.

nursebickypegs · 04/04/2017 15:14

@Autumnsweater haha! We can do it. Nurse power.

I can not BELIEVE this scan business. Have you informed your MW?

yellowismyfavourite · 04/04/2017 15:28

@Autumnsweater I can't believe they have done that to you again. I think I'd be tempted to go down there and cry until they found an appointment... it's awful how you have been treated

teainbed · 04/04/2017 15:29

nurse it takes 6 weeks to make a new red blood cell so no iron is going to work quicker than that. You do start chucking out some immature ones after 3 weeks but you have to give it time.

autumn would you consider a private scan? It's not the answer but whilst you're still jumping through the NHS hoops.

MrsJW15 · 04/04/2017 15:34

Autumn that's so terrible. Is there a supervisor midwife you can at least email? Not that it will do much but may make you feel better.

One of my boobs is really uncomfortable today. Might have to go and change into my sports bra. Hope it's just a bra thing!

nursebickypegs · 04/04/2017 15:45

Thank you @teainbed. I'm angry as my midwife missed this, and I think I'm going to end up with B12s regardless.

Rockyroad17 · 04/04/2017 17:01

@autumn you poor thing. I agree with the email suggestion. I am not sure if it's a possibility but can you complain directly to the responsible CCG? I have tried dealing with PALS in the past and nothing happened particularly quickly.

On a completely different note, is anyone else slightly concerned that their waters might break in the swimming pool without noticing? If they were to break, is it possible that I could go hours without realising? This is probably a silly question Blush

nursebickypegs · 04/04/2017 17:09

I really hope you get sorted @Autumnsweater. I'm trying to wrack my brains to think about how you can get this sorted.

Pro of today, my milk is in! Con of the day, I feel so poorly that I nearly fainted while in boots and I've put myself to bed. I'm so close to calling DH and asking him if he can come home to look after me. Absolutely pathetic, I know, but I'm dizzy and faint and I'm frankly feeling sorry for myself.

1004Rise · 04/04/2017 17:19

@Autumnsweater that's ridiculous now, not sure if it's an option but could you go and sit until they see you, I realise this takes a whole day away from you but may be better than you continuing to be stressed over it. It's obviously been getting to you much more than you realise.SadCakeFlowers

@teainbed really 6 weeks, we're not very efficient at some things are we. I guess that explains why thy put us on such high doses of iron when it's low!

@Rockyroad17 oh never thought of that... I have no idea if you'd know Blush

@PeachIcedT the one thing that our friends with their nearly 4 week old newborn were amazed at was the number of nappies they're going through... apparently about 3 every change and that's with waiting for the fresh air pee BlushConfused
