@Autumnsweater I'm so angry for you about this. The nurse and Mum in me is raging!

teainbed · 03/04/2017 19:17

Autumn that's awful. Really terrible. I've needed scans and they've just fitted me in or Consultant has done them at the end of a list. Are you into complaining at all?

Autumnsweater · 03/04/2017 19:17

Aw thanks @nursebickypegs. I feel so bad for NHS staff working in this environment it must be super stressful.

EsmesBees · 03/04/2017 19:19

That is terrible Autumn. Is there another hospital they could refer you too, or would a good moan to PALs help? Seems like a crazy catch 22 situation.

Autumnsweater · 03/04/2017 19:23

@teainbed I think they have so many fit-ins they don't even have room to fit them all in!! Must be so understaffed. I was thinking about complaining just don't know when I'll have the time/energy to do it feel like I'm running on the spot at the moment just getting through the day 😂. I should do really though things don't change otherwise unfortunately do they.

nursebickypegs · 03/04/2017 19:33

@Autumnsweater we are stretched but we should be able to prioritise, especially over something like this. Makes me mad.

Barnes79 · 03/04/2017 19:38

@nursebickypegs I'd considered this wallpaper before for my nursery - thought you might appreciate it Smile

@Barnes79 that's INCREDIBLE!!! Where's it from??

Barnes79 · 03/04/2017 20:03

@nursebickypegs Very.com (or is it co.uk). Grin

beanturnipandspud · 03/04/2017 20:49

@ClaireSunflower I too do the bumping the bump! And this is baby number 3! So you would think my brain would know how big I am! I have some small bruises where I've knocked it on corners of tables etc. I am short too which does not help.

I have had such a tiring day today, DH due back from stag do this evening. Sorting Bean & Turnip this morning was ok, getting to work was ok but I crashed at around 4pm. DH should have been home at 8pm but the taxi didn't show at the airport so will be around 10pm! 😩😡

On the plus we get to see spud tomorrow at our 32wk growth scan. However I'm nervous as the 32wk scan showed turnip was small and they started talking induction at 35wks last time. I am not ready for spud yet. 😬

Rabbitykins55 · 03/04/2017 21:05

I'm going to get a couple of nursing tops but I have a couple of questions. Are they necessary? I really want to give it a go but I'm not at all comfortable doing it I front of anyone, I know this may change later on as it's established etc. Also, would I buy my normal size? Is it like maternity wear or is a 12 like a regular 12?

peasandquiet · 03/04/2017 21:22

Rabbity in the world of next day delivery I'd hold of buying anything nursing specific. Look at your existing wardrobe and what you can successfully 'one up one down with' first time round I was overly conscious about feeding in front of others. Probably contributed to me giving up when we had other issues. This time round I'm over it, guessing because I've been around so many bf friends since it's just normal to me now.

EsmesBees · 03/04/2017 21:30

Rabitty these bfeeding tops are great: www.rootitooti.co.uk they are basically extra long vests with holes for your boobs. Just buy your normal size I'd say. Most bfeeding clothes are cut generously in my experience.

ShiniBerry · 03/04/2017 21:32

Sorry to everywho has had a tough day Flowers

Claire i scratched my bump the other day trying to get through my bedroom door, completely misjudged the width!

Anyone else find they don't go a day without someone asking when you're due? It doesn't bug me though, realised pregnancy makes people friendly and chatty!

Had a proper hormonal meltdown today. After an exhausting day at work and on my feet running up and down between floors, i finally made it home and found that i had left the fridge door open all day. Had to throw all the perishables out and burst into tears as soon as DH got home Blush

teainbed · 03/04/2017 22:08

Rabbity would agree that you can probably make do until you see if it is working or not. And then get some feeding tops if you fancy them. With my first I was feeding completely naked from the waist up for the first week or so! Did the vest top/camisole/normal top thing after that. I never used a muslin or a cover but some friends really liked them too.

1004Rise · 03/04/2017 22:24

@ShiniBerry it's the random people that get me, people in shops that you've never seen before nor will again wishing me all the best, which is nice but still weird Hmm

@ClaireSunflower I keep misjudging bump size too, I swear it grows an inch every night, pieces of furniture I used to walk past are now a proper squeeze or I have to go a different way... makes hoovering interesting!! Confused

@Autumnsweater hope you get a scan tomorrow, I guess if baby moving as you expect then s/he is ok and it's just a formality but it can't be very relaxing for you Sad

Adventuregame · 03/04/2017 22:34

Can anyone tell me what happens to boob size after birth ?

Rustler74 · 03/04/2017 22:36

I've got some H&M maternity and nursing tops but I'm thinking of buying a few sleeveless tops with a clip over which I can wear other tops or jackets. Layers aren't too great for the summer but I can't bear the idea of leaking through to the top and not have anything to cover it up with.

I bump my bump sometimes but not too badly. I envy cats as they grow longer whiskers when pregnant so they know whether they'll fit or not. Grin

Feeling the reflux even with lots of gaviscon! Envy

WishIWasSleeping · 03/04/2017 22:39

Rabbity - I wore my nursing pyjama top in the house for an age last time.. and normal tops (vest and otherwise) that came up easily if I was out. A nursing bra makes things so much easier though, so make sure you find one you're comfy with.
I have brought a couple of nursing vest tops this time - but I intend on being out of the house more this time too!
I also continued to wear the 'bump covers' once I was back in my normal jeans just to keep my tummy covered. They look just like supports but aren't! A bump tube if you will!

WishIWasSleeping · 03/04/2017 22:43

Adventure - I found them to grow some more once your milk comes in, but then they settle into a size once feeding is established, and I only had a little spillage over my 'old' wired bras. Took about 4 weeks for mine to settle last time. I'd like to report back about after feeding but I was still feeding DD and pumping when I found out I was pregnant!
They don't seem to have increased much this time, but then I suppose they didn't really go down!

JimmyChoo17 · 03/04/2017 22:58

When my milk comes in, I look like some sort of glamour model.... Minus the actual glamour 😁 soon settles down but mine are different in every way whilst feeding. I usually wait a few weeks and then get some new feeding bras from mother care they've been good for me so far..... I have got some of my old ones on hand to use do rather now but they don't fit me properly

coxsorangepippin · 03/04/2017 23:00

Just been filling in the questionnaire for our hypnobirthing course this weekend - and ended feeling really anxious from all the questions about your fears, your thoughts about pain, etc!Hmm

I bought one of these last time and used it when feeding, alternating with the bump bands/covers. A few months in I hacked down a few old vests to make a diy version and that way my back and belly weren't exposed, but it was the other end of the calendar for me first time round so much chillier. My mum also picked me up some nursing vests from BHS which I lived in every night. I leaked more overnight once feeding was established and this way I had something to stuff my pads into instead of waking up to a puddle on the bed.

I'm waiting until a few weeks post birth to go and get a proper nursing bra as both back and cup sizes will change, likely down and up respectively, and as they're not cheap I want to make sure it fits!

MrsJW15 · 04/04/2017 00:02

Thanks all - very interesting on nursing! Had assumed I'd get nursing bras in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy but maybe it's worth waiting until baby is here? I have a couple of sleep bras already.
