Oh no, well at least you know it will be all over tomorrow. How come they couldn't do a sweep today?

Carolann8584 · 21/03/2017 15:15

She said my cervix still to hard/long and too far back apparently.

Carolann8584 · 21/03/2017 15:16

Which is weird coz when I was in last week the MW said it was almost ready

Just went through the procedure and where and when to be tomorrow

Just a bit relief to know there's a plan

Carolann8584 · 21/03/2017 17:57

Just a bit of a relief is the correct sentence Smile

Sweetpeabec · 21/03/2017 19:21

How long will the induction take? Is it a pill they give you to kick start the labour? Good luck x

Carolann8584 · 21/03/2017 19:56

Said it can take anywhere between a few hours to 48 to start labour! It can be done 3 different ways from what I was told and read on the info they gave me, 1 is something they insert and the others are injections I think. Need to re-read so it sinks in. Basically all 3 get my hormones and cervix working to start labour.

The MW said it doesn't always work and they can try again if it doesn't work first time

bobbis · 21/03/2017 20:04

Good luck with your induction Carol :) Take lots of snacks and stuff to do as you could be in for quite a wait. My pessary didn't kick in until 20 hours after it being put in.
They usually do a pessary and break your waters...if the pessary doesn't work enough for them to be broken you have a gel. They have to break your waters before they put you on the drip, if it comes to that.
Exciting that you'll be meeting your little one in the next few days :)

Sweetpeabec · 21/03/2017 20:44

Wow that's a long time. And you just have to stay in hospital and wait it out? Will the actual active labour be quicker when your induced?

bobbis · 21/03/2017 20:57

Yep it can be a long stay, quite a bit of monitoring too. Once they start the induction I had to stay on hospital grounds. They put me on the drip as a last resort as I'd started my induction at 5pm Wednesday and by 2.30am Friday was only 2cm dilated...had been contracting since 1pm Thursday but manageable ones (eating and joking through them).
Once on the drip, it ramped up pretty quickly and she was born 3 and a half hours later. Everyone says to have an epidural before the drip but I found it doable on gas and air.

Sweetpeabec · 21/03/2017 21:26

Wow bobbis that's seriously long! Well done for seeing it through on gas and air. I think I get induced on the 13th day of being overdue, hope it doesn't come to that though.

Thanks for the info/experience bobbis expecting it to take a while, my mum was induced with my younger DB (30yrs ago) and it took 2 days for labour to start 😥

Not looking forward to it but feel like I need help to get things going based on the past 3 sweep tries and cervix not even close to be ready now

Carolann8584 · 21/03/2017 22:53

Quick question I have a separate hospital bag to my LO do I take them both in with me tomorrow or shall I leave hers in the car until she has arrived?

troodiedoo · 22/03/2017 11:51

No sweep for me 😣 cervix not soft enough. Meh. Really want to sink a few cocktails now.

Sweetpeabec · 22/03/2017 14:32

Crap, so what happens now? Have you booked in to try again?

troodiedoo · 22/03/2017 14:38

Yes she will try again same time next week. Hopefully might not need it but resigning myself to the fact that probably going to have to be induced Hmm

Carolann8584 · 22/03/2017 14:49

Awww I know what that's like. You get yourself prepared for the sweep then it doesn't happen

Pelvis area is very achy now. Had pessary inserted about 2 hours ago.

LozzaRoseMumOf3tobe · 22/03/2017 16:06

I'm booked in for my 2nd c section for Friday, really wanted a vbac but I've got gestational diabetes so they won't let me go past 40+6 - Friday- and my cervix is too high and too hard to do a sweep so an induction is a Nono ☹️ Anyone else had 2 c sections?

Sweetpeabec · 22/03/2017 19:02

Any news carol?

Carolann8584 · 22/03/2017 19:37

Lots of cramping, pelvic pressure and feel like I need a #2 but don't

I've been walking the ward and bouncing on a ball to help things along
