Ouch carol is it meant to hurt??

Carolann8584 · 15/03/2017 13:16

Speaking to a friend of mine, she has 2 DD. She 4 sweeps both times and she said they mostly hurt depends on who is doing it. The 1 I had last week didn't hurt as much as yesterday's

Sweet
Sex can work because it creates the hormones needed in labour: oxytocin is released if the woman has an orgasm, and there is prostaglandin in sperm.
I don't think the penis needs to touch the cervix, that sounds more painful than anything else! It would probably interfere with the orgasm and oxytocin production...

Also wanted to add that if you're not physically up to PIV then you can still do other things to get your orgasm and oxytocin Wink

Thank you for all the congrats :) The last 5 days have flown by. Still finding it all a bit surreal that's she's finally here.
She's only lost 50g since birth at her weigh in today but she is a machine when it comes to eating!
Hopefully you'll be snuggling your babies soon. Sex was the last thing on my mind so hats off to you haha. If it comes to induction then it's not as horrific as everyone made out to me just a long process.

Hello ladies! Congratulations for the lovely baby's already born and fingers crossed for everyone else!
Baby Olivia arrived a week ago today, 8lb 2. Labour was pretty traumatic, resulting in forceps in theatre after 26 hours but she is more than worth it! I had an episiotomy and 3rd degree tear so it's been a blur of love, visitors and a very tender bottom!

Carolann8584 · 15/03/2017 18:50

Wow congratulations Bridget Flowers

Sounds like an eventful labour Smile

Bridget
Congratulations on the arrival of your baby girl!
Sorry your labour was traumatic and you have a big tear. I had an episiotomy and I'm sore so I sympathise. Are you able to sit down? I bought a doughnut cushion (apparently a child's rubber ring for swimming works too) and I use it when I have to sit on a dining chair to eat. I can also sit on a soft pillow in an armchair. But for the few days I could only lie down, stand or walk.
Oh and the midwife suggested putting maternity pads in the freezer so they're nice and cold when you put a new one on.
(You might have been doing all this already but thought I'd mention just in case!)

Sounds promising hugh glad your sweep went better

BridgetDoodle · 16/03/2017 18:44

NameChange30 thank you for the congrats, same to you. I still can't believe my baby is here 😊
I have been using pads soaked in witch hazel and just lots of warm showers. I had been recovering well but over last 48 hours seem to have regressed a little. I can feel my stitches pulling and getting sharp pangs of pain. No signs of wound break down of infection though thankfully! I hope you're feeling better after your episiotomy, I can't wait to be back to normal!
Good luck Hugh! Hopefully the end is near for you.
Happy due date Carolann. My wee pet came on her due date so hopefully the same for you!!

Carolann8584 · 16/03/2017 19:16

Still no sign of her yet, Indian for tea Grin

troodiedoo · 17/03/2017 01:54

Just woke up with period style pain, particularly in back feels like I need a big poo. Had a lot of twinges and movements last night. Am I in early labour?

NameChange30 · 17/03/2017 02:20

troodie

You could be, depends if the pain gets stronger, if you've lost your mucus plug and/or your waters, and if the pain turns into noticeable contractions.

I had mild-medium cramps sometimes at night. When it was actually the start of labour the cramps were strong and when I got up to go to the loo, I leaked (think it was some of my waters). Then the cramps got stronger and turned into contractions.

If this is it, best of luck!

Thanks namechange the pain seems to be coming in waves. Not unbearable but making me wince. Got up and walking about a bit which helps. No plug show or waters yet.

My due date is Monday but I've always said it'll be today so hope it is Smile thank you again! Flowers

NameChange30 · 17/03/2017 02:27

Yep that's contractions! Exciting! Are you timing them? How long and how frequent?

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 17/03/2017 02:29

Oh and put on a maternity pad if you have one, in case your waters do go.

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 17/03/2017 02:34

RIght I'm going to try and sleep (baby finally stopped feeding!) but if in doubt call the hospital and they'll tell you whether to go in. Good luck again!!

troodiedoo · 17/03/2017 02:45

Hmm has eased off a bit now, doesn't seem to be regular yet. Will wake husband up and get him to put tens pads on. Night night! Smile

NameChange30 · 17/03/2017 02:51

I spoke too soon, he's feeding AGAIN. Who needs sleep?!

Keep me us updated if you can!
