Still waiting patiently (not really, want her here!)

When we droped off the boys yesterday they said they can't wait till next weekend they can meet their new sister! They have taken my due date literally. No pressure to deliver lol! Hmm tried to explain that she might take longer to arrive but at 4 and 6 they just nodded

NameChange30 · 13/03/2017 13:37

Thanks Hugh but we are not home yet! Sad I was unwell on Saturday and they suspected an infection so they put me on IV antibiotics. Felt better very quickly and hoped we might be discharged yesterday but we weren't. They should be discharging us today - crossed fingers, touch wood, etc etc! I just can't wait to get home. Still can't actually sit down (ouch) but apart from that and the PGP (not helped by having to labour on a bloody bed!) I am fine. Baby is doing brilliantly! And as I said to DH, I'd much rather that way around.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 14/03/2017 02:02

Ha ha Hugh, that's so funny and cute.

Great news about being discharged Name...I hope he fits his going home outfit!! Sorry to read you were unwell afterwards but good that you're feeling better.

No pressure whatsoever to give birth on your due date Carol!! Wouldn't it be great if it did actually work that way though...How are you feeling now? Hopefully on the mend.

Are you back home as well Mother? How is your older daughter with her baby sister? It must have been lovely seeing them meet each other.

How's everyone getting on? I'm doing okay, with just the usual aches and pains. My feet and hands are still horrifically swollen though - I'm actually embarrassed for people to see them.

Carolann8584 · 14/03/2017 09:16

genghis feeling a little better, I know its wrong but I actually dread waking up in the morning with the mix of sore throat blocked sinuses and stomach acid I tend to be sick every morning can be quite painful on my throat and stomach.

At the hospital today so hoping to have some sort of a plan by the end of my appointment

Sorry to hear about your swelling, I haven't had much. Had a bit in my hands while having carpal tunnel off and on during pregnancy, I've stopped wearing my engagement ring.

Carolann8584 · 14/03/2017 15:33

Well that was a disappointing appointment, no sweep again. Back in next Tuesday to try a sweep again Sad

Sweetpeabec · 14/03/2017 19:43

Hey carol did they say why they wouldn't sweep you? How close to your due date are you now?

genghis sorry to hear your swollen, hopefully won't be for much longer soon and then I suppose you may sweat it out.

Hugh it is very sweet how you have prepared your children for their new brother or sister and I do like how he is already talking to your bump about his red car, it would be funny if he starts whispering at the baby for more items when the baby is here and growing!

name how are you feeling? Did they give you any medication to take home with you? How are you finding it with you little baby?

Still nothing to report from me, but the texts and phone calls have started with people asking "if anything is happening?" Still got 9 days left till due date! Think this baby is very happy to stay put Confused

NameChange30 · 14/03/2017 20:39

I'm loving being at home with our little boy 😍 I didn't exactly get much sleep last night - he was feeding pretty much hourly! But I'm enjoying breastfeeding, luckily it seems to be going well so far, touch wood, and it's so lovely to snuggle up with him. I get to admire his perfect eyelashes to my heart's content 😍

I'm on oral antibiotics and iron tablets, and I'm also taking paracetamol and ibuprofen. Still a bit sore and swollen but recovering.

Sweet
Those kind of messages are so annoying! I got "any news?" and "still pregnant?" Hmm The messages I really appreciated were from people who said they were thinking of me and asked how I was doing. Careful wording makes all the difference!

My due date is Thursday

They've tried to do a sweep twice but "I'm not quite ready" so they are gonna try again next week. It's quite painful while they try.

There was talk about inducing me on my due date but because everything is fine they aren't in a hurry.

I keep getting the texts, phonecalls etc asking if she's here yet as well it's a little frustrating when I don't have any control over when she comes but I know they are all excited to meet her as well

Carolann8584 · 14/03/2017 20:43

Awww sounds lovely name not the pain part but the cuddles. Glad BF is going well Grin

Sweetpeabec · 15/03/2017 00:13

name I know, my mum messaged me asking how my tummy was, I thought she was asking if I had a stomach upset, not whether I was in labour! How are you finding breastfeeding? Was it easy to pick up for you?

carol hope you have a successful sweep next week, or baby comes before then. I've asked about a sweep and been told I must wait until after my due date until I get offered one as they is my first. Ate a whole pineapple between today and yesterday, nothing's happening still!

NameChange30 · 15/03/2017 04:57

Sweetpea

The midwives at the hospital were really helpful with breastfeeding - shortly after he was born they were showing me how to help him to latch on. And it was a silver lining of being there for a few days, because all the midwives asked how BF was going and were available to help. It is a bit stressful to begin with when you have no idea what you're doing and baby gets frustrated! But in my case I just persevered with what the midwives had shown me and we soon got the hang of it. I realise I'm lucky as it can be challenging for some people (SIL's baby had tongue tie for example). Anyway here's hoping that it continues to go well! And that I can find bras and clothes to fit my massive boobs into. Grin

He's just finished a feed now and he has the most adorable contented squishy face 😍

Also for those of you thinking about sweeps and inductions... FWIW, I had a sweep at 41 weeks which did nothing, had acupuncture at 41+2 - don't know if it did anything but it was pleasant (unlike the sweep!!). Then at 41+3 (Thursday evening) DH and I had sex in the hope of helping things along... I woke up with strong cramps a couple of hours later and you know the rest of the story!

So my advice, ladies, is to get shagging!! (Not easy when so pregnant, I know, but get your DH/DP to do the work Wink )

name that's really good about the midwives helping you and well done that you have managed to get the knack of it quickly too. Hopefully I'll be the same.

Random question but the sex thing, is it the orgasm that's important or the penis "massaging" the inner bit? Or banging onto the cervix? Blush

Carolann8584 · 15/03/2017 11:42

My pelvis is so achy since my examination yesterday, she was very rough. I can barely sir or walk so don't think I can handle much "activity"

Can try though Grin

Carolann8584 · 15/03/2017 11:42

That's sit not sir lol
