Hi all.

Looking forward to everyone's baby news. 36 weeks today but have been thoroughly fed up since 30.... Need lovely baby news to keep me going!

Hope everyone is doing OK. X

MotherofA · 27/02/2017 19:41

Ahhhhh thanks ladies for your advice ! Stuff it I'll make a playlist then , at least then I have the option . Ok I'll think of some snacks hahaha might go on rice cakes and start as I mean to go on ** .
Oh no Garethea I hope you start feeling better ! Not long now !
Hugh eeeek exciting !

Cloeycat · 27/02/2017 20:41

Oh wow Hugh you must be from v close to me if you're that close to the maternity, I assumed you were in Dublin (no idea why!)

Yea I wondered about that- I have family members from v rural areas that had to travel nearly 2 hours to Tralee to give birth but wasn't sure how much of a catchment area Limerick has these days or if there were birth centres in rural areas or not.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 27/02/2017 22:43

Happy to read I'm not the only one who's already tried their snacks Grin. I should probably pack rice cakes too but I have a feeling they may return with me back home!

You could have a lot of fun making a playlist to suit the situation Mother!! I hope you start feeling better. I'm the same with waking in the night, every position seems to be so uncomfortable and hearing DH blissfully sleeping next to me does not help!

Congratulations on your due date Name! Have they discussed with you when you'll be induced? I hope your baby shows up this week too!

Good luck User and Bobbis - looking forward to hearing how you both get on.

Yikes Hugh, this is exciting! I hope your snack bag is re-stocked :)

Carol I think getting the paint = successful day, so well done! You need to lower your expectations Grin

NameChange30 · 27/02/2017 22:48

I've been hoping to avoid the induction question but I will have to make a decision if baby doesn't turn up soon! Saw the midwife today who said they will offer me a sweep at 41 weeks and then 41+3. She said that sweeps can take a few days but they can work so that's what they usually try before induction. However, I do have a choice and can decline if I prefer. The only thing is that I really want to be in the birth centre (midwife-led unit) rather than the delivery unit, and that's only an option up until 41+6, so that could be a factor in trying to get things moving before that point.

I have heard that acupuncture can help so might look into that if nothing's happened by the end of this week...

I only have 1 thing on my to do list for tomorrow, going shopping with my DM Smile need to get a few things before LOs arrival, bouncer, breast pump (still don't know if should get manual or electric Confused) changing table for cot even though we have bought cot yet yikes! And anything else that catches my eye Grin

Good luck for those with scans coming up, mines on Thursday (38 weeks)

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 28/02/2017 02:35

It's a difficult decision Name, what are your feelings about having a sweep? Hopefully it won't come to either an induction or a sweep if you don't want them but I suppose it's good to start thinking about your options.

Shopping sounds fun Carol. I had the same dilemma regarding the breast pumps, and in the end I went for the manual avent one, which was on sale. I'm not really planning on doing a lot of expressing so thought I'd go for the cheap one, then if things change, I can always just buy an electric pump. Good luck trying not to let too many things catch your eye Grin

SlurplePurple · 28/02/2017 02:57

Introducing myself very late waves.
I did try to join much earlier but everything moves so quickly I couldn't keep up sorry.
I'm 36+2 today (at this ungodly hour) so looks like I share a due date with a few others :).
I have a section booked (my 3rd eek) for March 20th unless this weeks growth scan shows growth hasn't picked up in which case they'll bring it forward to Monday.
I already have dd and ds and this time it'll be ds2!
I will try my best to keep up from now on ladies.

Garethea · 28/02/2017 07:37

All your snacks sound very healthy! I like the cola bottles though... Might have to pinch that idea.

Carol you are way more productive than me on most days! I count it a victory if I make it through without a nap.

Fingers crossed your LO starts to makes an appearance soon Name!

Hope the scan goes well Slurple.

Carolann8584 · 28/02/2017 08:19

Oh I have to have a nap as well, bad nights sleep again, pain again in my left groin area, couldn't sleep on it but couldn't sleep on my right either as it hurts more so most likely I will be napping this afternoon Wink

My OH bought me a case of Haribo home from work a few weeks ago, 6x600g of starmix yum yum so I think a tub will be coming with us to the hospital Grin

Hope your growth scan go well this week ladies Grin

Carolann8584 · 28/02/2017 09:36

Hmm might have to cancel shopping trip, 3 inches of snow in 2 hours, I live up a hill and can get a bit dodgy to drive down the hill when snowy / icey

Doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon so would be worse driving back up the hill Sad

NameChange30 · 28/02/2017 11:31

Genghis
In general I was hoping to avoid any interventions (and I would definitely like to avoid induction if I can) but I've been thinking about a sweep and I can see more pros than cons. If it works it will be a reasonably "natural" way to kickstart labour without having to take any drugs. And I can still go to the birth centre and have a good chance of the natural labour I'm hoping for. If it doesn't work, it will have been a bit of discomfort for nothing, but apart from that I can't see that I have anything to lose. If it doesn't work then it will be a dilemma about whether to have an induction or not - but I'm trying not to worry about that for now. One step at a time!

Slurple Hello, good to have you! Best of luck for your growth scan this week.

Carol Sorry about the snow but I reckon online shopping is the way to go! I've done loads of baby shopping online since I've been on mat leave. Can your mum come to you?

Made it out Grin it started to rain, bye bye snow

I have a breast pump! Yay! Went for a manual, see how much I use it Smile

bobbis · 28/02/2017 13:05

Growth scan today...she's still below the 10th centile. They're happy with movements, heartbeat, blood flow etc which is good. Been booked in for an induction next Wednesday! Excited and scared, still surreal that we'll be finally meeting her next week

NameChange30 · 28/02/2017 13:09

bobbis Sorry your baby's still measuring small but it's good that she is otherwise well Smile Best of luck for next week - exciting!

Carolann8584 · 28/02/2017 13:10

bobbis glad they are happy with her movement etc, oooo you will meet your little lady next week, exciting Grin

BridgetDoodle · 28/02/2017 19:44

Hello ladies! I posted wayyyyy back and have been lurking since keeping up to date with you all.
I'm 39 weeks now and just home after my second sweep. Feeling crampy but that is how I felt after the first and they dwindled away to nothing so not feeling particularly positive! Booked in for induction on 13th if I don't go myself first.
Hope you're all hanging in there, this last month is an absolute killer isn't it?! Confused

Carolann8584 · 28/02/2017 20:40

Very uncomfortable and nauseous tonight, also have white discharge which I haven't had before.

NameChange30 · 28/02/2017 22:05

Hi Bridget, do you might me asking why you've already had two sweeps, is there a particular reason you/they have been hoping to get things moving before your due date? I'm leaning towards having a sweep myself at 41 weeks but haven't been offered one before that point.

OP posts:
BridgetDoodle · 28/02/2017 22:34

No particular reason, my consultant offered it to me and I took the chance to get things going! I lost my mucus plug within 4 hours of the first sweep and nothing since the second one tonight so I'm assuming it must've came all away. Still having some on/off cramping but nothing significant. Baby is far too comfortable!

Midwife appointment wasn't to bad basically just told me not to worry and wait and see what happens at the scan... If the midwife at the scan isn't happy with growth they will book another scan (probably the following week) if they still arnt happy they will book an induction... She measured my bump and I'm the same as I was the week before so time will tell :/ hate this waiting game! Scans Tuesday so fingers crossed she's still on or above the 10th centile!

Carolann8584 · 01/03/2017 19:23

Had a really low day today, 38 weeks tomorrow scan at 10:40 hoping someone offers a sweep or something to get things going, past few days/nights have been really uncomfortable

I'm usually a patient person but that's disappeared

I know I should let things come naturally and she will come when she's ready but......

Garethea · 01/03/2017 20:41

Glad your scan went OK user. And that the sickness is lifting Hugh.

Sorry you are feeling rubbish Carol. You are not alone. I can't seem to find anything to help pass the time. The things I used to enjoy seem tedious.

Can you give yourself a treat tomorrow after the scan? Something nice and indulgent to look forward to?

Carolann8584 · 01/03/2017 20:52

Hoping it's just a bit of cabin fever, didn't leave the house today, not spoken to anyone other than OH all day and he was in training today so couldn't talk much.

My DM is coming with me to scan tomorrow so that will be nice, it's the only one my OH hasn't been to so my DM hasn't had a sneak peak at our little lady, hope she gives a wave to Nana Grin
