Lol, Bigfam, it sounds like your DS is very smart! apparently, (or so I've been told) the crouching postion is the most natural and healthy way to poo, because in that position the intestines are not scrunched together. Sitting up straight at the toilet like we do is not actaully so healthy! I found out when I suffered with the piles (apologies for the poo-convo so early in the morning..; )) they say that if you crouch, you put less pressure on the intestines so it's better, and that if you can't crouch (imagine a pregnant woman crouching on a loo Grin you an out a foot stoll and rest your feet on it to create a better angle ; )

Iit's probably okay if they get MORE milk than one teaspoon (am pretty sure DD did as I had a lot of milk immediately and she wanted to feed) but just, if they only get one teaspoon they are apparently fine!

Londonmamabychance · 03/10/2016 10:49

*mean to say stool not foot stool, sorry, English is not my first language and sometiems I translate words weirdly in my head

ElodieS · 03/10/2016 10:49

Hello all! Sorry I've been absent for so long! I'll read back and try to catch up now, but wanted to pop on to say hi and hope you're all doing well.

I'm back in the UK briefly, and it's so lovely to see DTs and DH. Got an midwife appointment today and expecting to have the anti-D, then back to NYC first thing tomorrow morning.

Bigfam · 03/10/2016 11:00

I won't tell him that then london otherwise he might start doing it again 😆
I do actually crouch like that when I cut my toe nails Blush otherwise I can't!

Wow elodie how are you not completely exhausted with all the travel involved?! I'm starting to get tired just standing at the sink.
The tooth I had filled a few months back is starting to hurt, I'm a bit upset because I thought it was ok Sad I'll have to go back now for root canal or removal, neither of which I'm looking forward to.

OrianaBanana · 03/10/2016 11:09

Bigfam I'm in the same position with a tooth - I had it filled to try and avoid root canal but as it's still painful I might not. Still, at least dental treatment is free (for now!). Although the dentist is trying to get me to go to the hygienist for a clean because of the bleeding gums (gotta love pregnancy) and that would set me back £55...

I hate the dentist!

ElodieS · 03/10/2016 11:15

I am fairly tired to be honest Bigfam, but just pushing through and the good thing is that I only have to work and sleep (and not spend the early hours on MN!) when I'm in the states so I can catch up a bit that way.

Ach, sorry to hear about your teeth too bigfam and Oriana*, dental stuff is so miserable! Can you get appointments fairly quickly?

Bigfam · 03/10/2016 11:27

Are you going to go back before your baby is born OrianaBanana? Last time I had a tooth removed I needed stitches and then developed dry socket so that's putting me off but I don't know how long I can leave it. Yep elodie luckily I can get appointments quite easily. I don't know how much they'll be willing to due in the 3rd trimester though.
I wouldn't bother with hygienist banana bleeding gums is so common in pregnancy (unless you want them cleaned that is)

OrianaBanana · 03/10/2016 14:00

I'm not planning a trip just yet Bigfam, I'm firmly in denial and hoping it will go away (= it doesn't hurt enough yet). I have fluoride to stick on it and maybe magically that will get rid of the decay inside... Confused

Anyway I know they say the local anaesthetic they use is safe but I don't like it and will put it off til after December if I can. They usually have to put loads in anyway as the amount they use to begin with never seems to work.

DartmoorDoughnut · 03/10/2016 15:01

Bigfam how do you know who dies in WD?! I can't decide whether I neeeeeeeed to know or to enjoy the anticipation Grin

Really need to order bedroom furniture for this one! Got a cot just need wardrobe/drawers but going with 'normal' furniture rather than nursery as it is half the price!

Bigfam · 03/10/2016 15:39

DartmoorDoughnut a member on mn told me Grin she's on the spoiling dead fb page and apparently they know everything, they stalk the sets and see who's still filming etc, but they're not allowed to go public or they'll be sued or something?! I can tell you if you want??? Grin I had to find out, to treat myself during pregnancy of course!!

TipBoov · 03/10/2016 16:06

Tell me too please! The suspense is too much!!

Moses basket arrived today, so that's a big purchase ticked off.

Does everyone have much left to buy?

Bigfam · 03/10/2016 16:14

I can inbox you tipboov if you really want to know?!

SouthDownsSunshine · 03/10/2016 16:16

Anyone else getting really painful braxton hicks? Left house to pick up dd from nursery (15 min walk), and the pain was intense. I got about 2/3 of the way there and I had to stop to sit on a wall and rest. Came straight home and dh is picking dd up. The pain was shocking! Now I'm lying down it's calmed down again. I've had this a few times but never this intense.

Bigfam · 03/10/2016 16:16

I've just got to get some drawers for baby's clothes, a bouncer/swinging chair, nappies, formula and my hospital stuff sorted.

Bigfam · 03/10/2016 16:19

SouthDownsSunshine I did in my last pregnancy from about 34 weeks, I even had to go in for them to monitor because they became so frequent and painful, it happened if I did too much or was dehydrated. They're scary when they're like that so if you'd feel better let your mw know, just in case they want to monitor you. Hope you're ok x

StubbleTurnips · 03/10/2016 16:21

All you organised types please stop!! You're making me hyperventilate Grin I've never been so disorganised in my life and as a professional planner I think I'm losing my magic powers.

bumbleclat · 03/10/2016 16:23

stubble me too!
I plan for a living as well (teacher)
It'll all get done in the end! I work better under pressure anyway.

Popskipiekin · 03/10/2016 16:28

Stubble if it makes you feel better I was so disorganised last time I didn't even have my bag ready or any breastfeeding bras by the time my waters broke at 38 weeks. I had to hot foot to oxford street to get fitted, whilst leaking amniotic fluid (after having been checked at the hospital that nothing was happening just yet).
This time round I'm only more organised because it's DC2 so we have everything. Plus a house move has made it that bit easier to sort through all the boxed up baby stuff. But I've still not put my bag together yet nor got the few extra bits I do need like new mattresses.

DartmoorDoughnut · 03/10/2016 16:48

I'm going to resist for now bigfam but may not last if they don't reveal it in the first one!

Massive BH yesterday on my dog walk, was proper waddling on the return journey as a result Grin no dog walk today just in case!

SolomanDaisy · 03/10/2016 17:30

I'm not convinced the WD spoiler is right after the inaccurate detection of who'd spent time on set for game of thrones!

I've been having painful Braxton hicks too. I try to convince myself that it's going to make labour easier!

StubbleTurnips · 03/10/2016 18:10

bumble and pop ahhhh you're in good company in disorganised corner Wink Grin
I have to wait for DDs room to be sorted before I think about baby stuff, that'll be done this month sometime

If he arrives early I do have a crib needs making, blankets and babygrows needing a wash

barkingtreefrog · 03/10/2016 18:34

Opinion poll - we're going on holiday for half term, about a 7-8 hour drive to Bude. I'll be 33+ weeks. Given I'll be so far from home, would you be packing a hospital bag just in case or is that ridiculously early and I should stop worrying?

OP posts:
DartmoorDoughnut · 03/10/2016 18:36

I'd take one barking doubt you'd need it but think you'd worry if you didn't sort of thing! I can always pop over if you've forgotten anything though Grin

StubbleTurnips · 03/10/2016 18:38

I would! My friends little girl came at 32 weeks Shock

Lovewatchingrainfall · 03/10/2016 18:51

Barking I would take a bag and your notes just in case. You would rather have it and not need it then not pack it and need it. Even if you just take stuff for you. And send someone else to get bits for baby. As baby would be small. Enjoy your holiday.
