I was on an old birds ttc and ante natal thread when I was pregnant with Ds. I'm pregnant again, aged 38, and wondered if there were any others interested in joining together on an older mums thread?

Not that I feel particular aged or anything, but some of the threads gets very busy and it's nice to have a smaller group.

Thank you, queen. Nausea is pretty bad in the evenings, I noticed now.
Hello ladies, had my first midwife appointment today which went well. Such a lovely lady who knows my mother-in-law, the former midwife herself. Made various appointments, got some freebies and left in good spirits. Insomnia is still killing me. Nausea is very bad in the evenings. Each week cutting down on progesterone intake and hopefully that will make some difference. Keep knitting baby stuff in different colours. Booties, hats, cardigans all in matching sets are done. Now I'm knitting my very first blanket.
Haven't even looked at maternity wear yet. And do not believe I'm showing yet. Today s 9+2.

MumofthreeandBean · 16/11/2016 17:38

I don't knit but I do crochet, not made any baby bits yet as I don't want to jinx anything, got my first scan on 22nd so I might start baby bits in the new year , madly doing niece and nephew blankets and mermaid tails currently!!

Feeling ok, 12weeks today, really really nervous about scan!!

Russkispy · 16/11/2016 18:33

I'm a novice at knitting and started with little things, I.e baby things last year or so, as it's easy to learn how to knit.
When is your scan? Hope it goes well! Fx for you!!

MumofthreeandBean · 16/11/2016 21:04

Scan on 22nd (Tuesday)

My mum knits and Crochet's but I really didn't want to knit as it seemed to me like it was too popular.crochet seemed more of a challenge to me

MumofthreeandBean · 22/11/2016 17:52

Scan today!! Twins!!

Russkispy · 22/11/2016 18:47

Omg! Mumofthree! That's incredible! Have you expected that? How are you feeling? Are you in shock? Excited? Congratulations either way!
Had my NIFTY scan/blood test done today. Should get results in 5 working days. Babi is growing fast and was clapping his tiny feet together today. So so sweet! How's everyone else feeling?

MumofthreeandBean · 22/11/2016 20:42

It's a shock but I did kinda expect it.
Family are all excited! Im happy but even getting pregnant was a shock in the first place!!

Cuppaqueen · 23/11/2016 08:27

Wow, mumofthree (soon-to-be-five!) - congratulations Grin What made you suspect it was twins?

Russki - glad the scan went well, I can't wait for another look at my little wriggler on Saturday! Fingers crossed NIFTY is all clear - if the scan looks good, that's a great sign.

Afm, starting to feel really good. Nausea gone, tiredness easing, but still full of happy hormones. It's nice to be able to feel the baby move now - every night and most mornings I feel him/her, like a squirming deep down in my belly Smile My DH even felt a tiny nudge when he had his hand resting there for a while. Happy days.

Russkispy · 23/11/2016 08:57

Thanks queen. How far are you now? Nausea is still here, evenings are the worst! Insomnia is killing me! When this is going to stop? I'm 10+2 today. When results are through, they will also tell us the gender of my Babi! So early in the days! How good is that! Just hope nifty is all clear. Fx!

Cuppaqueen · 23/11/2016 15:01

I'm 19+3 today, so it's our 20-week scan due on Saturday! Hopefully if all is ok then I will start to relax a bit, maybe even think about picking up some things for the baby.

I'd say I started to feel better about 12-13 weeks and really improved after 15-16, which is when I first felt tiny stirrings too. So maybe you only have another few weeks to go before your symptoms ease off a little, russki. You and mumofthree must be so tired Sad

Cuppaqueen · 23/11/2016 15:04

How is everyone else getting on? Smile

MumofthreeandBean · 23/11/2016 17:03

I thought it was twins because firstly I have been sick since conception! Bump and stretch marks appeared early!
I was a twin(brother died before birth)
Had an inkling.....
Also the fact it's my 4th and my age boosted my chances too.

I barely slept last night, woke at 1.30 and was wide awake! Managed to drop off around 5 but got up soon after 🙄

Wow I had totally forgotten I started this thread! Glad it's still going. 30+5 here and struggling somewhat tbh. Am going to read back and catch up.

Received my NIFTY test results today and all is clear/low risk! So relieved!! And I'm having a Babi girl!!!!

Still suffering from insomnia and nausea is pretty bad in the evening. But coping with it, what can I do!

How's everyone else doing?

Cuppaqueen · 30/11/2016 02:01

That's great news, russki! Smile

We had our 20 week scan on Sunday and baby looks great, plus we found out we're expecting a little boy! Very excited now, plus he seems to have had a real growth spurt afterwards and I'm feeling lots of kicks and wriggles. Only downside is, my back is aching constantly - anyone else have this?

Welcome back Nottalotta - already at 30 weeks, wow! We just booked a short break for when I'll be 29 weeks - was that madness?!

Sparrowlegs248 · 30/11/2016 11:02

Glad to read all tests are coming back good and low risk. I declined screening, goid job really as was 18+4 at my first scan...... My appointments have all been a bit of a comedy of errors tbh, but feeling OK about it I guess because it's my second baby.

Yes, 31 weeks tomorrow. cuppa if this is your first baby then you should be fine. Sith ds, after the hideous nausea, sickness and exhaustion eased at 16 wks, I was really OK until the end. I had elcs at 38+6 so no waiting about.

Thirties though..... Ds is 16 months, and does not stop and has slept through a total of 4 times ever. He gets up at 5, and we both have a cold so where I normally put him to bed 6.30-7 and get to sit down for a but, he's been coughing, waking, crying all evening bless him. I could and have cry with tiredness. I work three days a week. They are my rest days......

Also, I feel SO much more uncomfortable this time, and still nauseous on and off. Mostly mild but occasional sickness still.

Moan moan. I have heard (and am pinning my hopes on it) that a toddler and newborn is easier than toddler and heavily pregnant. Fx!!

Today is a work day, I've dropped ds with Mil as usual and gone home to bed.

Yes, first baby despite my relatively advanced 37 years of age (!) Keen to enjoy a childfree break before the (very welcome) madness starts. Hope your little one feels better soon and you can get some time to relax/sleep in the evenings. I really sympathise, you must be exhausted. Hope you have good support around you.

MumofthreeandBean · 04/12/2016 17:35

Hi!
Pleased about your good results russ
My results were low - happy with that!
I felt the twins move this morning!! Makes it feel everso real!
Been reading up on double buggies, twin feeding and sleeping etc it's all so different than with a singleton!
I can't wait for my 20week scan to find out the sexes - it's Jan 12th so bit of a wait yet.

cuppa enjoy the break - just a change of scenery is lovely even if you don't have bounds of energy, when I was preg with my first I worked upto a week before birth, only stopped then because midwife was moaning at me!!

How are you feeling?

pinkcandyflossy · 05/12/2016 08:59

Hello andbean and thanks. Oh and I am 38. Will be 39 when I have the baby. I'm feeling good thanks a bit tired but hardly any morning sickness so thankful for that! Wow twins! (I bet you get people saying that a lot :) how is your pregnancy going?

MumofthreeandBean · 05/12/2016 12:39

Ok, sickness subsiding except when I get a strong smell pass my nose!

People say all sorts, were you expecting that? Are they planned? Oh dear you will be busy 🙄

pinkcandyflossy · 05/12/2016 17:35

Oh yes I know what you mean I cooked some corn on the cob day before we yesterday and the smell had me feeling very sick!

Oh yes I imagine you get the you'll be busy one a lot but when they are just a little bit older you'll be chilling out while they play together and share their birthdays and have that amazing special bond :)

MumofthreeandBean · 11/12/2016 08:04

Definately noticing my age more with this pregnancy, I was bouncing with my others at this stage but I can barely walk the shops, climb the stairs or stay awake this time!!

pinkcandyflossy · 13/12/2016 15:10

Hello everyone. I had my 12 week scan today and all was fine. A big relief. Also blood tests came back excellent and all that, so next it's the results from the first level down syndrome screening.

I've just been looking at maternity clothes and I really hate all the body con dresses and actually I have not found any nice stuff. I wanted some little vintagey silky tops to go with skinny jeans and nada. Anyone found anything nice? I know I could just buy normal things in bigger sizes maybe I'll have to do that...

How is everyone else doing?

bean sorry to hear you are not feeling energised. I think this close to christmas with all the deliveries and the tree and the christmas day stuff it's easy to lose the energised feeling!

I noticed a noticeable boost n energy levels the day I turned 12 weeks (was the same with my other 2) so I'm happy about that!
