I was on an old birds ttc and ante natal thread when I was pregnant with Ds. I'm pregnant again, aged 38, and wondered if there were any others interested in joining together on an older mums thread?

Not that I feel particular aged or anything, but some of the threads gets very busy and it's nice to have a smaller group.

Shite. So tired and sick just constantly. Poor ds, refusing to nap.unless walked in the pram so I just don't get a rest. Husband is being worse than useless. Self pity party here.

Supposed to start gradual retreat with ds this week but struggling for motivation.

Hope everyone else feels better than me!

That sounds miserable Notta. I'm feeling queasy all the time and vomit if I eat- but no other kids to take care of, and hubby looks after me.

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/08/2016 07:44

It's awful Drink, I was the same with ds but obviously didn't have a baby to look after too. I get worse as the day goes on but by 8am yesterday (ds up at 5) I was wondering how I'd get through the day. Properly sobbed briefly but poor ds face, I had to get myself a grip, he clearly picked up on me being upset.

Going out today, feeling okso far!

Hi everyone, may I join? I am 43 and due April 1st. Feeling nauseous today, tired but headaches been better last couple of days. This will (hopefully) be my 3rd child - ds15 and ds10 I am very anxious x

zambean · 03/08/2016 20:32

I'm 34, will be 35 when I have the baby, which makes me a geriatric mum, apparently! Grin

I'm 4w4d, due date 2 April. So very early days, I know. But I feel well and I'm optimistic and confident it'll all go smoothly, despite my age. It's my first pregnancy and I'm so excited!

IslandLife · 03/08/2016 20:54

Congratulations beegee! Good luck with your pregnancy. I was lucky and didn't have any sickness, but the headaches were awful! In week 21 now Smile

Sparrowlegs248 · 03/08/2016 22:25

Evening all, welcome beegee and zambean.

Im feeling a bit better, hormones may be settling. Waiting for a scan date so I can get am idea of how far along I am. Mw suggested 8 weeks, I feel like I've been feeling crap for longer than that!

Hope everyone is feeling well.

Hi guys!
I'm 38 and just got a bfp this evening after feeling weird for a couple of weeks. Will be DC2 if all goes well. DD was second round ivf, so we weren't expecting another, and I'm swinging from "how exciting" to "how on earth will I cope?"
I've forgotten how to calculate the dates, but probably due in April, same as a few of you. Really glad to have found the club as I wasn't an active MNer last time!

Beegee3 · 05/08/2016 22:12

Hi witch congratulations! Flowers

WitchWithAStitch · 06/08/2016 21:18

Hi Beegee and thanks, you too! I'm feeling a bit worried tbh, I really didn't enjoy being pregnant last time, or having a baby Sad.. Things have just started to get a bit easier and now it'll be three and a half years before we're back at this stage IYSWIM?
I'm trying to think positively, but I'm an only child myself, and I don't really know if having a sibling is a good thing?

Sorry if I'm derailing - this isn't particularly age-related, is it? I can moan about my aches and pains if it would help Grin
I had a bit of a shopping spree at H&M today though, and feel like I know what I'll want to wear this time round. Thank god for H&M, Next have nothing that appeals!

WitchWithAStitch · 06/08/2016 21:20

Oh, and I've forgotten everything - do I just book a doctor's appointment to get the ball rolling?

Cineraria · 07/08/2016 04:35

Congratulations, Beegee, Zambean and Witch!

I think it depends on your area, Witch. Where we are, you have an appointment with the GP when you find out and the practice book your booking appointment and the nuchal scan appointment but in other areas, you self refer to the midwives and they book both appointments for you. Maybe call your GP and ask.

Well done on finding what you want to wear. I had only just stopped wearing my maternity clothes as they are the only things I have that go over my bust without risk of popping open and are easy to feed DS in. It seemed not worth buying new non maternity when we were trying to have another one but I found a couple of dresses that work ok the week before I got the positive test. Fingers crossed, they'll be wearable up to around twenty weeks and useful after the birth too and at least I won't turn up on my first day back after maternity leave in the same outfit I wore on my last day!

WitchWithAStitch · 07/08/2016 08:02

Aw Cineraria that sounds really organised still having all your maternity clothes! We gave everything away, not expecting another Angry - except the travel system, luckily since that's the expensive but, and a random maternity tankini that I never wore. I'm determined to swim lots this time!

Cineraria · 07/08/2016 09:57

Oh thank goodness you've still got the most expensive thing. Do you think some of the people you gave things to might give them back if they have finished with them or pass other things on to you? Sounds expensive otherwise. We're more the other way. We still have everything but DS might still be using some of it when the next baby needs it, cot, pushchair, cloth nappies etc. so might need to get more anyway.

Swimming sounds good. Does your DD like going? Last time I was pregnant I really wanted to go in the swimming pool but didn't feel like swimming properly and our local pool doesn't really have a session for that. This time, I can take DS to the children's session and he can splash while I just wander about holding him in the water, plus there is his paddling pool at home, which is great too.

WitchWithAStitch · 07/08/2016 10:14

I just gave things away via local FB sites, so probably not! This is going to sound ridiculous, but the high chair is the most annoying thing as we had a dining table made at exactly the right height, so we'll probably buy the same one again
1st world problems!
Yes, DD loves swimming and we usually go every week but it isn't very deep, I might have to go by myself and float properly. I think there might be antenatal aquacise or something too. Definitely want to stay as active as possible this time!

How's everyone feeling? I think I might be around 7 weeks, and I'm incredibly thirsty, exhausted and getting a few cravings Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit

FuzzyOwl · 07/08/2016 11:38

Congratulations to the new joiners. I hope everyone is feeling ok and enjoying their weekend.

I think I have forgotten what it feels like to be well rested and comfortable. Really excited about the impending baby though now.

Helbelle75 · 07/08/2016 21:24

Hi everyone. I'm 41 and this is the second time I've been pregnant this year. I sadly lost the first in May.
Had my bfp yesterday, and very excited and slightly scared to be doing this again so soon. Fingers crossed!

FuzzyOwl · 07/08/2016 21:38

Sorry for your loss in May Helbelle and I really hope everything goes smoothly for you this time. When are you due?

Helbelle75 · 07/08/2016 23:11

Thanks Fuzzy, we have everything crossed.
Due 15th April according to the calculator.

zambean · 08/08/2016 14:23

Is anyone else slightly worried about age and tiredness, when the baby arrives? Obviously I'm worse now because I'm 5 weeks pregnant so I'm even more exhausted than normal. But I realise I'm just so tired in general these days, and I wonder whether I will be able to cope...

Cineraria · 09/08/2016 04:08

I did worry about that in my first pregnancy but found it ok when the baby came, especially as he was breastfeeding and sleeping in with us (in theory in a Babybay co-sleeping cot but quite often in our bed) so I could plug any night squawking quite quickly and go back to sleep.

This time I'm more worried about coping with two of them!

IslandLife · 09/08/2016 08:08

I'm more worried about being a bit of an older, boring Mum! I'm very lucky that I don't have to work, DP works from home and gets up very early, so I'll be able to get some rest time. But I am aware that I'm not as much fun as I used to be and will struggle to play with a little person as much as I may need to. This is my 1st baby and perhaps my last. I would love to have another but DP doesn't want anymore and I worry that this little one with be lonely. I grew up as an only child and would've loved a sibling.

FuzzyOwl · 09/08/2016 21:42

I also have a little one (only just turned 1) so I am more concerned about looking after both of them. Having just the one though, has been blissful and I have loved it so hopefully having two will be fine.

Sparrowlegs248 · 09/08/2016 22:03

Having one was fine, having one aged 1, while pregnant again, is exhausting!

How is everyone feeling at the moment? I am really ready to speed up time and get to November.

Hope you have all had a good weekend.
