I was on an old birds ttc and ante natal thread when I was pregnant with Ds. I'm pregnant again, aged 38, and wondered if there were any others interested in joining together on an older mums thread?

Not that I feel particular aged or anything, but some of the threads gets very busy and it's nice to have a smaller group.

Awful here! Vomiting has commenced and I have a cold with constant tickly cough. And I keep being awake for hours even when ds is asleep.

On the plus side, I've started gentle sleep training, gradual retreat, and am on day 6. Hes only ever fed to sleep at bedtime, or been cuddled. So 6 days in its working a treat. All in preparation for the next one to come along!

Can't wait to get past this sicky stage.

I'm not feeling a huge amount of sickness but I really struggling to sleep so am exhausted during the day. Fortunately it's school holidays so I can rest up.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/08/2016 12:04

What is it with the sleep thing? I remember last time people saying 'oh sleep while you can!' and wanting to punch them in the face! Or at least give them a look.

FuzzyOwl · 15/08/2016 16:38

Luckily I am not feeling sick and am hopefully well past that stage. I am with you on the insomnia front though - really tired all the time, but can't sleep and keep getting leg cramps in the night.

My DD is generally a good sleeper so I am hoping she stays in her routine for the new baby.

FuzzyOwl · 22/08/2016 21:36

My PGP is really hurting now but maternity leave starts next week which means I can officially start to count down.

How is everyone else doing?

Sparrowlegs248 · 22/08/2016 21:49

Oh fuzzy, you have my sympathy with pgp. I have had it intermittently already. Had it very early last time too, but this weekend have been in agony. Unable to walk at times. I was referred for physio but sods law dictated that it didn't hurt on the day.

Ds sleep is getting better, I have really been putting effort into it since getting my bfp!

Bit disappointed that scan is not til 5th Sept now, I will be 14/15 weeks by then I think. Was supposed to getting an early scan!

OP posts:
FuzzyOwl · 22/08/2016 22:01

Thank you Notta and it has definitely started earlier this time and is already more severe than it ever was in my last pregnancy. I was referred to physio but rather than a one on one it was a class of pregnant women and we watched a slideshow of things that can help (getting dressed sitting down etc). It was useful but I feel like I need a lot more.

I feel like DD's sleep is back to where it was when it was at its best, which I am so pleased about. However, her eating had really deteriorated which I hope is because she feels a bit unwell rather than anything else.

Can you ask to see if there have been any cancellations so you can have your scan sooner? Whilst it isn't very far away, waiting any length of time seems so much longer than normal during pregnancy.

Sparrowlegs248 · 30/08/2016 19:22

Good evening all. I hope everyone I'd getting on OK.

Fuzzy - i tried to get an earlier scan but can't get out of work this week. Still, neatly there now. Its on Monday and I can't wait! Hope it will all feel a bit more real. Although......I'm so glad there's hardly anyone in at work this week as I definitely have a bump! I can't believe no one has commented!

Ds sleep has been worse again. Bur we've both had a cold. Last night was better and fx for another good ish night tonight. I need to just stop bf when he wakes I think. But it's the easy option. So I just cary on.

OP posts:
FuzzyOwl · 30/08/2016 20:39

Really hope your scan goes well on Monday and your cold eases. My maternity leave starts tomorrow which is quite early but saves me going back to work after my maternity leave for DD ended. I felt really exhausted and tired over the last few weeks but I think the iron tablets I was prescribed and finally working and making a big difference. I still don't have as much energy as DD though!

Sparrowlegs248 · 30/08/2016 22:04

Ooh are you on back to back maternity leave? How long to go now? I went back three days when ds was 9months. He's 13 months now, and work agreed for me to stay at three days for an 8 month trial (I used holiday to start with)

How's your pgp?

OP posts:
FuzzyOwl · 30/08/2016 22:27

About eight weeks left to go as having an ELCS around 39 weeks. DD is a little older at 15 months but I worked until she was born and used annual leave in between that maternity leave ending and this one beginning.

PGP is still painful at times but managable at the moment. How are you finding things? I will be glad when it is cooler.

Sparrowlegs248 · 31/08/2016 18:48

I think I am coming out of the rhappy first stage. I am feeling less sick. Still tired buy possibly not quite as bone achingly exhausted...... hips better, less painful and not every day. I have a bump. I hope I don't find out I'm 6 months pregnant or something!! I think.it will be 14 was but I Def look.preggers now.

So your little one will be 17 months when your new baby arrives? Do you have a double buggy?

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 08/09/2016 19:35

Good evening, is anyone still.here? Quick update, I had a scan, my first, on Monday. 19 weeks, due 2nd Feb. So further along than originally thought. I am not surprised given the bump! Feeling much better too.

How's everyone else?

OP posts:
Zanashar · 08/09/2016 20:43

Hi everyone, sorry not had chance to pop on since my initial post.
Had my first scan today. 13+2 so due date of 14th March.
Had my expected 4/5 week stint of morning sickness just like last time but I'm much better now. Definitely feeling aches and pains sooner than expected and overall not enjoying this pregnancy as much as the first one ( it was all new and exciting, this time around I know what's in store Confused)
Has anyone else suffered with reflux this early? It's really affecting my eating Sad

WitchWithAStitch · 09/09/2016 09:23

I'm still here, going for my 12ish weeks scan this morning. I keep hoping there will have been a mistake and I'm actually about 6 months... 😬
I've been feeling very sick and a bit phobic about eating and drinking anything, but have found taking ranitidine once or twice a day at least stops the reflux Zanashar
And yes, my hips hurt already, even though I've been doing my physio exercises since the moment I found out 😪
Glad you're feeling good Nottalotta
Off to drink impossible amounts of coke water 😮

Sparrowlegs248 · 09/09/2016 22:12

Things are starting to move along now with scans etc. My mw basically took no notice if me and dh cited on my due date made it up whereas I was sure I was earlier, didn't think my sickness would have started 5 days after dtd for a start! So pleased really to find I was right and around 19 wks, not 12.

I have had mild indigestion at times, and now in bed I can sort of feel my throat rising up if that makes any sense. Had it awfully last time but later on than this.

Hip pain and sciatic has leveled off too. And ds is going to bed much more easily!! Yey!

OP posts:
FuzzyOwl · 09/09/2016 22:45

Hope everyone is doing well.

I need to start to get a bit more organised. I don't have a double buggy yet, so really need to order one. I am going for a growth scan next week as I am measuring behind at the moment. Trying not to worry as I know the fundal measurement is a really rubbish was to assess how well the baby is growing but I feel like emotions and hormones have got to me a bit at the moment.

My heartburn and acid reflux started quite early and I have been taking omeprazole to ease it. On the plus side, my bump isn't currently as painful and my sciatica isn't as bad either.

hughesy771 · 14/09/2016 07:21

hi, I'm 39 pregnant with my first, due April ... Does anyone fancy meeting up ?

WitchWithAStitch · 14/09/2016 17:58

Whereabouts are you hughsey?

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/09/2016 19:26

Hi Hughesy, welcome. The last group I was on of old mums are scattered all over the country, but would be nice if it's possible!

FuzzyOwl · 17/09/2016 21:14

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I feel too big and uncomfortable to do anything. Really counting down the days now.

newbieho · 20/09/2016 05:03

Hello everyone, do you mind me joining? I'm 39 and pregnant with my first child (6 + 5). Midwife appointment booked for 04 Oct - still feels a bit unreal.

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/09/2016 07:34

Fuzzy, it's hard at the end isn't it? I've already forgotten really and am amazed how uncomfortable I am even at 21 weeks.

Welcome newbie! Mine seems more unreal this time too. I'm finding it hard to find even time to think about it with looking after ds. His sibling is going to be here before I know it I think!

Inshock73 · 24/09/2016 19:10

Hi everyone, I've been rubbish at keeping up to date and posting on here, demands of working full time combined with a 16 month old who never sleeps and being heavily pregnant was beyond exhausting.

But...I just wanted to post my good news :)

We wanted a surprise so didn't find out what we were expecting and on Wednesday our little bundle turned out to be a healthy baby girl weighing 7lbs 9ozs, she arrived safely via a scheduled section because she wouldn't turn and remained transverse.

She's beautiful and we're thrilled :)

Already wondering whether to go for another (I'm 43) maybe it's the hormones...! :)

Sparrowlegs248 · 24/09/2016 21:51

Ooh congratulations inshock!! What wonderful news! I can hardly believe I will be in the same situation in a few months.

I hope you ate not too sore, ds was an elcs due to being breach, I was really lucky with an easy recovery. Do you have a name?
