I was on an old birds ttc and ante natal thread when I was pregnant with Ds. I'm pregnant again, aged 38, and wondered if there were any others interested in joining together on an older mums thread?

Not that I feel particular aged or anything, but some of the threads gets very busy and it's nice to have a smaller group.

MumofthreeandBean · 28/09/2016 06:33

Hi, can I join ladies? I think I'm old enough at 37 😳
I have 2 teenagers and a 10 yr old, it's taken me this long to convince hubby to have another Grin still not sure he belies it! Me either tbh.
Got my bfp yesterday and still slightly in shock!

FuzzyOwl · 10/10/2016 22:47

Sorry I have been away for a while. I need to catch up now. Hope everyone is doing well and welcome Mumofthree

FuzzyOwl · 10/10/2016 22:48

Congratulations Inshock! Lovely news and definitely go for another - although I think my hormones are also on overdrive at the moment.

I am technically term on Wednesday, which is scary! Need to finish packing my hospital bag by tomorrow evening and then start the baby wait countdown.

Cuppaqueen · 17/10/2016 02:51

Hi ladies, can I join? Congrats on all your pregnancies 😊 I'm 37 and 14 weeks pregnant with our first baby, super excited! Still a little shell-shocked too as it happened so fast, only one month TTC. Husband thinks he has super-sperm, lol. We haven't told anyone yet as we're waiting for results of NIPT genetic test for Down's etc which doc advised us to have due to our advanced age! So this is a bit of an outlet for me, I can't resist sharing after reading all your stories. Did anyone else here have the NIPT test? I'm a bit nervous about the result but NT thickness was normal so just trying to be positive and hope we can share the good news with friends and family soon.

EDD 18 April, oh, and we're living in Shanghai right now!

MumofthreeandBean · 17/10/2016 06:31

Hi cuppaqueen congrats!!
I hope your results come back ok, I am guessing I will have to have the test this time as I am 37, I have 3 other children but youngest is now 10 yrs.
I have midwife on Thursday - excited for my first scan - should be due around 31st may/2nd June Smile

Congrats Mumofthree - wow, I can't imagine having four kids, you must be run off your feet! Hope you get some time to relax and take it easy with no.4 ;) The NIPT test is easy at least, just another blood test - they took about five vials of mine altogether at my last visit, I thought I was going to pass out!

MumofthreeandBean · 17/10/2016 11:38

I do hate the blood tests!!

Having 3 kids is ok now they are older , worst thing is driving them about to their social events!
hoping they will be helpful with no.4

phoebe2016 · 21/10/2016 19:59

Hi Everyone, can i join? I am 39 and 5-6wks with 3rd child. Have 2 older DC, one of whom is a Teenager and 3 Step kids. Got my GP notification appointment next Weds. Keeping my fingers xd for good luck with this pregnancy, after an early loss back in June and 2 previous mc between my older kids. Feeling very tired already and bbs to rival Katie Price! Lol

MumofthreeandBean · 22/10/2016 07:45

Hi phoebe.
Congrats xxx

Cuppaqueen · 22/10/2016 08:12

Hi phoebe Smile Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you this time. I know what you mean about the tiredness, when I was about 5-6 weeks I was knackered all the time. Passed out on the sofa one day at 3pm, woke up 3 hours later with DH's dressing gown draped over me and a cushion under my feet, bless him - I never even stirred.

phoebe2016 · 22/10/2016 14:01

Thanks Cuppa & Mum! I know, by about 9pm my eyes are barely open and i am done in! Lol. I think by 12wks you get some energy back again, so looking forward to that. Not telling anyone about the pregnancy until after the first scan, had too much bad news in the past. Feel on edge already, constantly expecting blood when i go to the loo, it's horrible. What will be will be though, so im trying to focus on positive thoughts Smile

MumofthreeandBean · 23/10/2016 08:26

I never felt this way with my other 3, it may have been 10 yrs ago but I remember as I worked everyday right up until dc 1 was born.
I am so tired, bordering lazy! I'm either hungry or feeling sick, had a headache for a while too.... don't mind me just feeling sorry for myself!

Hi everyone, please can I join this thread? I am 38 and 5+5 - this is my first pregnancy. Have been feeling ok - only nauseous when my tummy is empty (easy to fix!Wink), lots of twinges which feel like period pains and very sore nipples - sorry TMI! The emotional side is the funny one - Just trying to think positive and hope my bean sticks really but I don't think my poor DH has had a day without tears since we found out, am feeling sooo hormonal. I am having a viability scan at 7 weeks so that is the next milestone.

MumofthreeandBean · 12/11/2016 08:30

knitting hi!
Congratulations!!
I'm 11.3 now and still no scan so I'm very jealous!! I have to wait until my nhs scan at 12.6, fed up of waiting!!!

newbieho · 12/11/2016 11:12

I'm 14 weeks today and the harmony test results came back with low risk. We've started telling people and it all becomes very real

Russkispy · 12/11/2016 11:48

Morning all, can I join you too. I'm 40 and 8+5 pregnant with my first baby. Had our early scan on Tuesday and saw a blop with a strong heartbeat. Very surreal. Booked for NIFTY (same as Harmony test) on the 22nd. Was told would get results in a couple of days. Newbie, did you wait long for your results? My 12wk NHS scan is next month when I'll be 13wks. Did you have it? And did they test you for DS and other anomalies?
Pregnancy insomnia is still driving me crazy. Feeling less nauseous, I think. How's everyone else doing/feeling?

newbieho · 12/11/2016 13:02

Russkispy i have got Harmony offered on the NHS after 12 wks scan as Kings College is doing some research and they offered Harmony to me due to the combination of my age (I'm 39) and the medium risk. The results came back after a week via email and the risk for all 3 syndromes (Down, Edwards and Patau) appeared to be low Smile

Insomnia is killing me too so I feel your pain. Nausea has gone but I've started feeling SPD. I'm 14 weeks.

Russkispy · 12/11/2016 15:28

Thanks Newbie. I'll be doing it private and hope the results will be ok. Just read about SPD and it sounds painful! And never heard of it! Are you in pain? And when had your nausea gone? And do you feel hungry all the time? This is all new to me. Also wondering if insomnia ever ends?! And crazy dreams with it!

MumofthreeandBean · 13/11/2016 07:06

I can't sleep past 4.30!! Annoying but I'm trying to get to bed earlier for the extra hour or so.
My nausea is subsiding now, I have a terrible cold at the moment so I'm off my food too.
I am already huge, 4th baby so could be that but I'm thinking twins and have done from very early on as I seem to have suffered with morning sickness from conception!! Either that or I'm further on than I thought but my lmp wasn't a light one so unsure.

I'm not clued up about all this testing, I think I'm just having the risk calculator one and go from there, I don't have a spare few hundred pounds to spend out, but I guess that could change if it doesn't come back as low risk.

11.4

Cuppaqueen · 13/11/2016 14:39

Hi all Smile

I had the NIFTY test too, although I had to wait two weeks for the results - I'm in China though, so it was probably just the post Hmm Thankfully, they came back low risk although I had to do a bit of research to interpret the actual results which were given as numbers e.g. -2.5, 0.57. If you get that Russki, let me know and I can tell you what I found out. Over in U.K. though they might give you something more intelligible!

I'm 18 weeks now and feeling much better. Nausea gone, sleeping heavily (albeit still vivid dreams) and only mild twinges so far. I still worry if the baby's ok especially as I haven't felt much movement but only two weeks to wait till the next scan and if that's ok, maybe I'll be able to relax a bit more.

MumofthreeandBean · 13/11/2016 14:45

Are you finding out the sex??

Russkispy · 13/11/2016 19:10

Thanks cuppaqueen, will let you know as soon I get our results although the test is not till 22nd November.
Nausea knocked me for six today and no energy today whatsoever! Will ever get better?! Feeling really rubbish. Sorry about the moan, don't have anyone to talk to about it all.

newbieho · 14/11/2016 13:50

Russki I am feeling under the weather today as well. Maybe it will get better tomorrow...

Cuppaqueen · 14/11/2016 14:49

Aww, russki, sometimes it's rough. I hope you can take it easy, rest, read a good book and generally look after yourself. I found lying down helped my nausea, also forcing down some dry crackers (pref salty ones).

Mumofthree I'm dying to find out the sex but we were told hospitals in China cannot by law test for this (due to previous one-child policy which sadly resulted in abortions of girls). No exceptions for foreigners. So we'll have to hope the baby is in a good position on the 20 week scan for us to find out!
