Stretched how lovely of your friend!
Well we went raving last night until 3am ... thanks to our new neighbours upstairs. Not impressed. Then some firefighters arrived next door so it was all go. But at least it wasn't a school night and I had a good resting day today.

We went for a short ocean dip which was refreshing to say the least. I'd forgotten just how crap my stomach muscles are at the moment, specially in the waves. But it was nice to enjoy feeling weightless for a bit.

Is anyone considering washable nappies? The modern cloth ones not the old terry towelling ones. I'm quite keen to give them a go but not sure whether they'll end up being too much hassle.

Spottyladybird · 28/08/2016 14:14

I used cloth last time round and will do again. Not too much hassle although I did use disposables for the first 6 weeks!!

You can check whether there is a cloth nappy library in your area first, they'll lend you a set for a few weeks so you can see if they suit etc.

Here's s map of cloth libraries, there's one in most counties.

Stretchedfortime · 28/08/2016 15:58

I've bought cloth nappies and two friends have used them recently and said they're good but you sometimes need clothes one size up to fit them in. Have you looked at the nappy lady site? You can get some good advice on there about what kind would fit your life best.

CocklesandMussels · 28/08/2016 20:27

Oh a swim sounds lovely! We're still at in-laws. I'm mega constipated but also have lots of (ahem) wind. They must think I'm very odd as I keep disappearing halfway through conversations.
I'm impressed with those planning cloth nappies. I hadn't even considered it it but I might have a look

RuskBaby · 29/08/2016 04:11

Woke up 2 hours ago for a pee and DH is snoring so bad I cannot get back to sleep. At the PIL's or I could go and get on with something really interesting like the ironing. Hope everyone is sleeping.

tiredmumrighthere · 29/08/2016 10:48

Rusk- I feel your pain with the snoring! I get it every night, then there's the 3/4 trips to the bathroom, and waking 2/3 times a night with cramp in my foot!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/08/2016 11:23

I'm normally in your shoes too Rusk so I feel your pain! Except last night I slept like a baby after a dreadful two nights with DP, DD and DD's best friend at a well know crappy holiday park chain Pontins. (Note to self: never put yourself through that again no matter how good the deal seems!) My own bed never felt so good.

I'm now feeling full of dread as I'm back to work this week (as I'm sure the rest of the teachers on here are!) Only 7 weeks until maternity leave though so I can't complain.

Bollyroo · 29/08/2016 12:18

Thanks for the cloth nappy advice. Think I'm going to take the plunge once we're through the newborn stage.

And I'm joining the iron deficiency team Sad Got a letter through saying that I'm deficient but no idea what the actual result was. Bring on the steaks I say.

RuskBaby · 29/08/2016 18:18

If you have children already do the night time toilet trips stop once baby arrives? It feels like baby gives my bladder a cuddle repeatedly through the day then just squeezes the heck out of it as soon as I try to sleep.

With the iron deficiency occurring to a lot of you, have you been tested recently? I haven't had my bloods taken since my 12 week appointment, just been through my 28 week and no blood test.

Muffy have a look at some of the hoseasons lodge and park resorts - we have found them to be much nicer, they do still have children's things at some places too.

bobcat85 · 29/08/2016 19:50

We've been to some really nice parks through Hoseasons. It's also worth looking at prices with the parks direct as sometimes they can be a bit cheaper than Hoseasons.

Husband is off for the next two weeks so we're heading to Barcelona next week as we have some friends who live out there. Not sure how I'm going to cope with the heat as it'll be high twenties most days and I'll be 30 weeks. Looking forward to it though.

Bollyroo · 29/08/2016 21:55

Rusk, I hadn't had a blood test since 12weeks. I missed my 24week appt where I was supposed to have the next blood test so got it done at 28week appt. Again, each place is different so I wouldn't worry.
If you do a GTT then they test for iron as part of it I think. Here the GTT is supposed to be done between 26-28weeks apparently and its routine whereas it sounds like in the UK it's only if there are certain red flags.

needanewjob · 29/08/2016 21:59

Oh bolly welcome to the anaemic club! I've reduced my iron dosage now to once a day (with Drs approval) and am feeling a lot better. Apparently the levels for intervention have lowered which is why so many of us are being called about our blood test results!

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 29/08/2016 22:01

Thank you rusk and bobcat, I'll have a look at Hoseasons for next time. Enjoy your holiday bobcat, I'm very jealous!

Rusk I had my bloods done just after my 28 week appointment, when I went for the GTT, perhaps it was just a part of that? I still haven't found out why I actually had to do the GTT as, as far as I can tell, I'm not in any of the risk groups! I haven't heard back since either way so I guess it must have been clear.

coppergrey · 29/08/2016 22:10

I have my 28w appointment tomorrow and the midwife mentioned last time that she'd take blood at this one. Also have the whooping cough jab tomorrow - anyone else had it yet? Did you feel ok after it?

bobcat85 · 29/08/2016 22:14

I've had the whooping cough jab coppergrey, it was fine but my arm did hurt for a couple of days afterwards. It did get a bit bruised as well but I bruise quite easily.

FuzzyOwl · 29/08/2016 22:16

Yes Rusk although it takes a little while as your body still has retained water but the nighttime trips definitely end very soon after. Not that it matters, as the nighttime nappy changes and feeds start up... Grin

Copper I had a sore arm for about three days afterwards so it wasn't comfortable to sleep on but then, sleeping is fairly uncomfortable anyway.

coppergrey · 29/08/2016 22:18

Thanks bobcat and Fuzzy! Can deal with a sore arm but have loads of work on tomorrow/Weds so didn't want to feel groggy.

FuzzyOwl · 29/08/2016 22:23

I didn't feel at all groggy or unwell as a result. Hopefully you don't get any side effects or a sore arm either copper.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 29/08/2016 22:52

I agree. Whooping cough vaccine is painful arm for a bit but nothing else.

Have spent much of the day trying to make progress on the spare room. Sciatica now killing me!!

Fedupithink · 30/08/2016 07:21

I hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday weekend? I think I had my first bout of nesting and found myself cleaning out and sorting kitchen cupboards and buying new baking trays. Very random!

Hoping to get the results of Friday's repeat bloods today but guessing it'll more likely be tomorrow/Thursday.

Sorry to see some of you are suffering with low iron. I've got my whooping cough jab next Friday.

Has anyone been spoken to about the flu jab yet? It's available from October and pregnant women are usually offered it quite quickly but my midwife crossed it out in my notes as "n/a" as much as I hate needles I'd rather have it than not as the risks are huge for pregnant women and newborns.

RuskBaby · 30/08/2016 07:51

GTT tomorrow so guess I'll find out about anaemia after those results come back. Not looking forward to the test as I still have morning sickness thankfully much reduced so fingers crossed, I was told if I'm sick in the test they will automatically say I have diabetes and I will be confined to labour ward.
fedup we are in a risk group for flu jab, have it done at your GP, my GP and boots pharmacist have tried to sign me up already.

FuzzyOwl · 30/08/2016 07:52

I intend to have the flu jab when it comes out fedup and I wonder if your midwife crossed it out because pregnant women usually have it early on and by the time it is available, some of us will probably have given birth.

Fedupithink · 30/08/2016 08:04

Ahh yes that's a good point Fuzzy I'm due on the 12th Nov so maybe that's why. I'll ask the midwife at my next appointment - they've increased to every 3 weeks now, feels like a milestone!

Has anyone heard from Elderberries on the FB group? Noticed she hasn't posted on here for a while? I'm not on the FB group yet, having trouble with a couple of corporate accounts which are linked to the same email address which is taking an age to sort! Annoying!
