HI ALL. Havn't had chance to read up on all your posts yet, i will do that tommorow, promise! But it's just to let you know that I had my beautiful babygirl at 1.55am on the 20th January, weighing in at 8lb. And her name is Nancy Jane Rutherford. The sweep I had definatley worked as I had her in 4hrs and 12 minutes, inc contractions! had no time for any pain relif! but have been quite ill aferwards, hence why i havn't got round to posting. will catch up tommorw.x.

Dragonhart · 24/01/2007 19:21

2happy- thats great news about your dsis. My dsis has found out she is preg again (after a miscarriage at 9 weeks while I was preg-not sure if you rem?) and has a scan at 10weeks next wed so really keeping my fingers crossed for them!

I think she found it really hard to come and see Ruth for the first time but just hoping all goes well for her.

BTW Good luck everyone!

Fantastic news, Jessddibs, congratulations. Sorry that you have felt ill afterwards, hope you're recovering x
DH - I remember your news about your dsis, remember being really sad for her at the time, so massive congratulations and really hope the scan goes well

Well my news is that I seem to be a little damp this evening. I'm definitely not in labour, unfortunately, but seem to be leaking. It's obviously hindwaters, the same as I had with ds - why oh why can I not just go into labour like a normal human being?!! I guess it means that if I don't go into labour I'll be induced after 48hrs, so I'm hoping I start to contract. Feels weird, it might have been the last time I put ds to bed an only child, or it might be another few days - just have to roll with it I guess!

Good luck 2happy - definately get tweaking those nips and eating some Dairy Milk - I swear by it

Thanks for your message on post natal, hoping he settles xx

2Happy · 25/01/2007 07:59

Thanks gr8mama and Wilkie . Nothing much happened overnight and managed to get some sleep. Still damp, but no gushing, and nothing that makes me think I'm just about to have a baby. I just have this awful feeling it's going to be the same as ds and I'll be leaking for a couple of days and still not do much and end up on a drip flat on my back and have a crap labour. This already rules out the pool for pain relief which I wanted to do this time . Bugger. How's everyone else?

OP posts:
becks5109 · 25/01/2007 10:07

congrats Jessddibs - look forward to hearing all the details of the labour - am very jealous you have you little bubba.

Am still here and getting more fed up by the day/hour/minute - was watching telly and reading at 4am this morning. Had a sweep on tuesday and thought i had a very small show yesterday but very minimal and not bloody so am not impressed! Am now 8 days overdue and just can' believe this baby won't make an appearance yet - so much for 2nd babes arriving more or less on time or early. How hum - DD1 at playgroup this morning so am now going to have a very hot bath!

Good luck to everyone else on the painful wait list!

looshkin · 25/01/2007 10:53

Congrats Jess, and lots of labour vibes to those left.

2Happy - everything crossed that somehting will happen over the next 24hrs to avoid induction, but try to keep focused and positive (loosh ducks torrent of abuse). Just think you will be holding your little one within the next couple of days - wow!!!!

gr8mama · 25/01/2007 11:05

2happy & ladies....guess what? My waters have gone! Couldn't sleep last night so not one to let the time go to waste I started tweeking nips et voila!! A few rather strong contractions and my waters went, lots of gushing this morning, just waiting for contractions to establish and get stronger and regular - although it doesn't seem to be happening if I'm honest. Will do a bit more tweeking, see if that helps. Otherwise it will be a CS tomorrow morning, as I've now decided I don't want to be induced because it increases the risk of my previous caesar scar rupturing. Don't mind too much if I have the CS in the end, looking on the brightside it will be easier to plan around DD's routine!! So hopefully baby will be here before the weekend...I can't quite believe it. 2Happy,how are you, have you had any progress, thinking of you. Any other news ladies?

2Happy · 25/01/2007 11:14

Good news gr8mama, here's hoping the contractions kick in soon. Nothing here, been for a vigorous walk, which was pleasant but unproductive.
Becks - IKWYM, thought being a 2nd one this would be so much more straighforward, apparently not, grrr.
Loosh - honestly, I'm starting to think I'll just be pg for ever!

OP posts:
wilkie50 · 25/01/2007 11:21

Oh 2happy - have a good shag [Wilkie still a fan of this method] eat some more Dairy Milk and go for a poo... I had my show when I tried to push a poo out (sorry if TMI)

Bloody hell, I REALLY seriously need to do some housework. DH is out doing errands bless him and I am addicted to bloody MN. Byeeeeee....

2Happy · 25/01/2007 11:25

Housework ?! ds is less than a fortnight old, housework doesn't exist at less than a month post-natal
(And I'm going to put sex off until after mw appt, but then...)

OP posts:
freedomfighter · 25/01/2007 12:17

am now 11 days overdue and going in to hospital tomorrow for induction . the hospital are not budging on inducing tomorrow despite what NICE guidelines say so been crying today. hospital said not to worry as that upsets baby. easy for them to say. not a very happy bunny today at all . this cloud of induction has just ruined last week when I guess in theory I should have been enjoying my time to myself .

gr8mama · 25/01/2007 12:29

Don't be upset FF. Induction might not be too bad and who knows, you may go into labour before then. good luck and as long as baby comes out ok, this childbirth is just a form of transport really.

2Happy · 25/01/2007 12:38

Oh FF, it sucks. All this worry and emotions when, as you say, you feel you ought to be relaxing and enjoying your last few days. The only consolation is that soon you'll be holding your little one, no matter how it happens. I really wish I could magic you into labour in the next day (though I may save some of the magic for myself, lol!), but since I can't I've just got to wish you all the very best xx

poppynic · 25/01/2007 15:37

Freedomfighter - I had a great induction last time - they do happen. The labour was short and sweet and there was no forceps or any other "machinery" or any drugs coz was so quick - baby fed beautifully straight on the boob. It was nice to be able to go to the hospital all prepared - not in a panic. The worst thing was the monitor permanently strapped to me. You can apparently ask for it to be done by a handheld one and checked every 20 mins - apparently there is no added risk done this way - although the staff may not be able to manage coming in that much.

Have you checked the right time to go in - my hospital didn't bother to tell me - I rang and she said, don't come in at 8.00 coz handover could last till 9.00-9.30. My brother-in-law who is a paeds nurse also said most inductions he knew about started about 9.30 to 10.00.

Good luck - this time tomorrow we should be proud mums [grins]

jessddibs · 25/01/2007 17:17

Well, sorry to hear that there are still a few of you left out there still not having had your babies, i really feel for you and am sending the strongest labour vibes ever to you all.x.
So, THE SWEEP, when I had this done I found it really uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Felt a bit like a smear. Almost immediatley I had period pains, but the consultant said that my cervix was still very thick and to try and book another sweep before my induction appointment....yet that evening I had a show and brown bleeding and all the next day I had mild contractions, by 9pm they were every 4mins, so went to the hospital to be told i was only 1cm and probably best to go home..but nobody came back to see me as it was really busy and 4hrs later i was screaming the place down having had NO PAIN killlers! when they examined me my waters burst and I started pushing!!! I still had my ugg boots and next tracksuit on!! and no bags!!! So off came my bottoms and 12mins later after being rushed to delivery suite and told that a heart beat couldn't be found that I had to push exactly when told or have emergency c section there and then my little Nancy was born, but not breathing, she got rushed to special care but luckily nothing serious was wrong and we got her back quite soon, nice and pink and screaming! They put it down to the speed at which i dialated and gave birth which probably sent her into shock.

Our daughter is perfect, but I am in a right pickle! My bp is still high, I have piles the size of plums which are stopping me from doing just about everything. Seriously the pain of the piles is worse than the birth! Been told I may have to have them lanced!!! AAAHH! And am having alot of massive dizzy spells and palpitations which is where my bp suddenly drops and they don't know why!? have got to go for heart tests as soon as poss. Apart from all that I am loving being a new mum again, Nancy breast feeds beautifully, but has her body clock the wrong way round so am bloody knackered! I am desparate to get out in the fresh air with her but am having trouble getting from the sofa to the loo at the mo due to my bum!

Sorry, massive post! didn't realise I went on so much! Congratulations and good luck to you all, I will catch up with everyone soon on the postnatal thread soon.x.x.x

2Happy · 25/01/2007 19:54

Wow, Jess, what an eventful delivery, how awful and frightening. ds dropped his heart rate in labour and I was rushed for an emergency c/s under general, but when we got to theatre he'd recovered, but the fear I'd lost him was horrible. And then your 'recovery' sounds terrible too, not what you need with a newborn! Hope it gets better soon - have they checked your iron levels, that can affect your BP.
Freedomfighter and poppynic - all the best for tomorrow, look forward to your birth announcements!
Still not in labour, if I'm still damp tomorrow I'm to go in to get examined, but the hospital will allow 96hours to go into labour, so I at least have some chance of going into labour [hopeful emoticon].
