Due Jan '07 part 8: Even the Royal Mail would have delivered by now!

Guess all of us who are left are feeling a bit like this now!

Hi everyone. Thought I would join in.
I have about 4 days to go til my estimated date - I was so convinced I would have this baby early, I never considered I may go overdue.
So far I have tried: swimming, bouncing on a birth ball, raspberry leaf tea, brosk walks, going out in the car without my hospital notes (testing sods law on that one), and lots of sex (purely for practical purposes). I know I am not over my dates yet, but every day feels like an eternity. I just want him out NOW!!!!!!!

Hi all - threatening this baby with induction did the trick and he decided not to wait! Was due at hospital 8am today but waters went at 11.30pm sunday night, followed swiftly by contractions 5 mins apart. Got to the hospital about 12.15am and was already 8cm dilated - forgot about TENS machine so no pain relief up to this point

Just an hour and twenty minutes later and out popped(?) a 10lb 2oz baby boy - yet to be named. Two hours and 10 mins start to finish was a bit different to the 18 hours of labour I had first time round!

Got discharged from hospital late this afternoon and all going well so far .....

OMG Hattie, well done! What a fantastic labour, and 10lb 2oz - maybe the mythical great second labour exists after all . Congratulations

made the fatal mistake of falling asleep on the sofa early evening for an hour and half and then lay in bed listening to DH snoring for ages! Eventually took myself off the the spare room and eventually got to sleep. Am going for accupuncture today in the hope it will bring labour on! the lady that does it used to be a mw and rumour has it she will sometimes give you a sweep too so fingers crossed she offers me one as that got me going with DD1. Mind you my office are taking me out for a farewell lunch tomorrow (bit late in the day but glad they have finally offered a decent gesture as i hardly got a goodbye from most of them!).

congrat Hattie2 you giving me faith that a 2nd labour can be good!!

Annieapple7 i am exactly the same as you - pool all set up and raady to go and am convinced i'll end up being induced and not using it! Desperate to use it and for it to be successful just to prove all the doubters wrong. MIL has already said how strange it will be to tell her friends her grandchild was born in the kitchen - err hello she had my husband and one of her other children at home WTF???

I want Hattie's birth!
I have stopped reading the scarey birth stories now, and all this waiting business is just hyping the whole thing up into a massive terrifying looming thing for me. (deep breaths)
I really wish that I hadn't hung on to the EDD so tightly.

ps. 41 + 2 today.
If the baby was estimated at 6lb 7 weeks ago, what do you reckon he is now?! [GULP]

lizziezombie 2-3 weeks ago mine was 8lbs so just imagine what it could weigh now! although i have been told that most of the time the estimates are completely wrong so i'm hoping mine was! My dd1 was only 6lb 7oz so I was hoping for a nice little 7 pounder!

Lizzombie - just passing through from Feb thread - I had growth scan last night (34 wks) and was estimated at 6 lb 9oz - so wil be interested to see how big your LO is when born! My last was 10lb 14oz!!

Lizzz - (typing one handed, holding Jacob in other), please don't let labour terrify you, you honestly will be fine - even though it was painful I would do it all again tomorrow if I had to (well...maybe not tomorrow). I was surprised how calm I felt when it all started TBH, I was a nightmare beforehand worrying - maybe the anticipation is worth than the actual labour!

Go in with a totally open mind, my contractions were all in my front so I spent 6 hours in the bath amd evey time I had a contraction my DH slowly tipped a jug of really hot water over my bump - bliss!!!! Only embarrassing bit was that I had really bad wind which was fine when only DH was in the bathroom with me but when midwife was sat there I had to apologise and just go for it! Jacuzzi!! (2Happy - you would have been SO proud )

Th epidural was a last resort but I would DEFINATELY have another one.

Thanks for the poo advice everyone - especially LTH - I am waiting to 'turtle' and then I'll go . Pregnancy - leave dignity at the door!

Hattie - I can't tell you how good it is to read your account. I had horrendous first labour and a big baby (9lb 13oz) - they think this one will be over 10lb and I am pretty scared about the labour. Will keep your experience in mind.

Hi just thought i'd introduce myself. This is my second pregnancy (dd-Isabella 21months). CS last time,going for vbac this time. I'm due in 2 days! Thinking of stocking up on some castor oil....anyone any experience of using this. I'm seriously getting desperate now! Anyone else due on 18th? appt at hospital tomorrow, maybe have a sweep. Anyone due to give birth at Darent Valley hospital?

2happy you are doing a grand job updating that list, don't even have time to read all the posts let alone update list!!

All going well here both dd behaving although ellie has developed really bad ezcema (sp) on her bottom, legs and chest been to drs 3 times this week before they decided it was eczema now got bath traetment, steroid cream and aqueous cream, saw lovely dr today who has dd same age so really lovely to my dd (she hates drs) she thinks that it may have resulted from anxiety although she is quite a confident child she does worry about things so this rash started when i was in hospita; week before xmas with bleeding then it has got worse probably as i was in hospital for 4 days with section and then bringing hattie home so hopefully combination of cream an lots of love and cuddles will ease it and dr seems confident that in a few weeks it'll go.

Saw LTH thread hope you are okay less than 24hrs till your induction, can't beleive how many babies there are and how many still to go love reading all the birth announcements. Sending labour vibes to those who want them xx

hoorya LTH popped!!!!

Hi again ! I finally popped on Saturday morning and Ellen Dorothy arrived at 8.08am 6 days late 8lb 4oz. Labour all a bit of a blur thanks to pethidine and gas/air, she was posterior so back pains during contractions were worse than contractions themselves, was so relieved to get pain relief once I got to hospital, bath at home hadn't helped at all so ditched the idea of using the birthing pool. Had to stay in 2 nights for Ellen to be observed cos she was born over 36 hours after my waters broke, only got home yesterday. Spent all last night worrying that my bedroom was too cold ! No stitches for me (hooray) and to join in the poo chat have managed 2 poos since birth thanks to heaps of fruit veg and water. Was having to give myself a 'positive talking to' during them both though...if anyone could hear...!!!

Hope any overdue babies decide to make their appearance soon.

Vinorouge - congratulations!! I too finally poo'd today - it was absolute bliss!! I had to take some lactulose to get things going and held on to my stitches for dear life but survived!!

LTH - fab news! Congratulations finally

I'm looking forward to everyone popping so we can start the post-natal thread with a vengeance.

Had precisely 1 hours sleep last night as Jacob has developed constipation! Joys. Have been giving him more water today as well as formula and he had a poo explosion this afternoon so I am hoping for a better night.

(Just re-read my post - honestly there is more to my life than poo!! )
