It's sneeze birth's galore thanks to our fanny stretchers! We're soaking in piss and praying for Bat's hospital bag. We're avoiding our mens 'Annie Sloaners' and eating all the cake! It's JS Gras 39!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 39th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 37th grads fred is HERE

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 53rd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread HERE for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

HERE is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

chat you are such a stirrer ;)

batfish · 05/10/2015 13:21

Oh sorry chat - misunderstood!! Guessing lil then in that case?? Eeeeek!

feathered I'm not sure what the official thing is but I've eaten lots of pre packaged salad both in sandwiches and just from bags, hadn't even crossed my mind that I shouldn't, oops! Is it because of toxoplasmosis?

CarrotPuff · 05/10/2015 13:25

I imagine they thouroughly wash everything feathered.

Pretzel I can't belive they would be such arses about it. Surely if he called in sick in the morning they would have to come up with plan B? How come labour is different? Also I always thought that everyone is entitled to PL, it's wether or not you get paid depends on length of service, but I'm not an expert.

lildottie · 05/10/2015 13:53

pretzel chat is sort of right. He has to have been working there for at least 26 weeks by the time you are 15 weeks pregnant to get statutory leave. Its the same for pay plus other eligibility criteria re pay.

It's all here

honeysucklejasmine · 05/10/2015 14:13

Pretzel is it his first teaching post? Most schools will count previous teaching posts towards the time limit. That is very mean indeed to do otherwise.

Lil meep.

fruitlovingmonkey · 05/10/2015 14:23

Pretzel that's outrageous. Has he considered a Daily Fail sad face?Wink
Feathered I'm fairly sure any reputable cafe would be washing their salad.
Thanks for the support over the weekend viroids. I felt a lot better yesterday so a slob day must've been just what I needed. This week was always going to be tough. It's my original due date AND the number of weeks the last one died at. Please can someone do a baby to distract me?

5hell · 05/10/2015 14:35

feathered there's nothing on the nhs website about pre-packaged salad (my mw mentionned it too, but i appear to have completely blanked that fact until you brought it up!) ...i dont see how you can easily avoid it 100% and still get a decent amount of greens in your diet?!! i'm sure you'll be fine :)

CarrotPuff · 05/10/2015 15:10

From lil's link it looks like your DP must have worked their the entire pregnancy pretzel, is that the case? Are there any school holidays not far from your due date?

batfish · 05/10/2015 15:11

Aww fruit what a horrid couple of big dates for you - I hope that when the week passes it will be a little weight off for you, I know you will never forget the baby you lost but the due date looming must be really tough. Would love to do a baby for you but definitely nothing going on down there at the moment I'm afraid, maybe mr bat will decide to give his poor old fat wife a pity shag tonight and help things along. Might change out of my massive comfy pants and see if I can entice him - not that too-small-cutting-me-in-half pants is a particularly good look either Confused

jellypi3 · 05/10/2015 15:18

bat any news on the baby front?? We've had a drought since ga sneezed out her little man.

My pram arrived but I'm in Spain so I'm sulking. In other news I got a tan today. Woop. But I also got told by someone not to drink diet coke in pregnancy and now I'm worried because I've not avoided it (not gone mad but not avoided it). Someone hooyah me please.

OP posts:
batfish · 05/10/2015 15:40

Hooyah jelly - diet coke is not poison (it's not exactly health food but it's not poison) so it hasn't harmed your baby! Don't listen to people scaremongering - there are always people who think they're so good for not eating McDonald's or not drinking fizzy drinks or never buying ready meals and will love to tell you how much damage you're doing to yourself by being so irresponsible as to not live on kale smoothies but everything in moderation is fine so please don't worry about a few diet cokes! Just stick to the NHS guidelines (even if you do slip up and 'accidentally' scoff a medium steak or have blue cheese in your unwashed salad like I have once or twice) and your baby will be fine!

And no baby news, sorry! Hopefully one of the other due viroids can be of more use Smile

pretzelpieces · 05/10/2015 15:42

bat you're lovely and I'm sure it wouldn't be a pity shag!
fruit what a difficult double whammy for you. Take care this week Flowers
jelly enjoy your holiday! Wink

Thanks for the advice viroids. Sadly it is his first teaching post and he won't have been there 26 weeks by 15 weeks before my due date. I'm due 3rd Feb and I think Feb half term is 13th Feb, so it's a possibility. I'm terrified I'll have to go through labour on my own! Sad

pretzelpieces · 05/10/2015 15:44

I'm a crybag today anyway cause I finished occupational therapy with the lovely lady who has been seeing me for three years. and the weather's doing an it never rains but it pours in sympathy!

5hell · 05/10/2015 16:16

pretz surely no workplace/colleague/humans are heartless enough to let a man miss the birth of his own child if there's anyway they could cover?!?!?! Angry on your behalf.

The paternity leave issue may be inescapable, but I cannot imagine he will not find a way to be there for the birth Flowers

MollyBloomYes · 05/10/2015 16:24

Pretzel my friend hadn't worked at a school long enough to qualify for leave but was absolutely there for the birth (and then fudged when it was born a bit so he got a day with them but sssssh!) I think your dp can probably get compassionate leave for the birth itself, I've worked for some truly evil heads and don't think any of them would sink as low as to make him miss it. Maybe a call to his union just to check precedence of cases like his if meeting today isn't productive?

pretzelpieces · 05/10/2015 16:29

I hope you're right 5hell. I know what he's like, he'd just walk out in the middle of a class if he had to but I don't want him to do anything to jeopardise what will be our sole income!!

At least we will have the half term together, that's more than some people get when their partners are in new jobs. And I have a supportive family these days who live fairly near.

pretzelpieces · 05/10/2015 16:31

Thanks molly that's reassuring. He's joining a union so good idea to get advice from them.

FeatheredTail · 05/10/2015 16:38

Thanks! 5hell - that's what I thought too! I've barely touched greens since being pregnant and it doesn't feel right! I really fancy a salad too. Will ask midwife when I see her.

Fruit - I feel for you and in the same boat. Yesterday (7+4) marked when I was told my last pregnancy was most likely non-viable. This Thursday (8+1) will mark when I started to miscarry. I feel like I can barely breath through trying not to 'disturb the process', I'm literally sitting still at every opportunity silently willing it to continue.

Hand holding for you.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 05/10/2015 16:57

BFP on undergrads thread! This is not a drill!

jellypi3 · 05/10/2015 17:04

Eek so excited and happy for lil :)

Viroids, I'm in Spain with loads of fucking sea sea food. Tell me your eat a prawn

OP posts:
jellypi3 · 05/10/2015 17:04

Tell me to eat a prawn*

OP posts:
batfish · 05/10/2015 17:17

Eat a prawn jelly - there are no issues with prawns either!

oneyorkshirepud · 05/10/2015 17:17

Jelly, eat a fucking prawn woman! I am well jealous if your Spanish seafood, do not throw away this opportunity for deliciousness!

Feathered, most prepacked salad is actually washed in chlorine (YUM), you will be fine.

Pretzel get you DP to join a Union. NUT is the most hardcore but get him to ask around at his school to find out who the best reps are. I'm SURE they will cover him for labour even if colleagues volunteer to do his lessons, and he will have been there 6 months then so may even be able to squeeze a couple of days compassionate leave, he could offer to take them unpaid if that is feasible for you.

Can't remember who is going to Croatia as it is on the previous page! Things I would recommend; walk around the walls for sure, the photography of war exhibition is totally grim but really good too, and if you are adventurous book onto a sea kayaking tour for a warm day. Most importantly, food! (Yes, I am obsessed). The 'Taj Mahal' a Bosnian restaurant is fab as is the Oyster and Sushi bar. You will probably need to book at both unless tourist season has seriously died down. Try the local sparkling wine at the Oyster bar too. CRAP just remembered you are pregnant so none of that is applicable... but go to the Taj Mahal!

lildottie · 05/10/2015 17:19

So I guess this means I'm a Grad, but I hope you all won't mind if I just lurk a while.

oneyorkshirepud · 05/10/2015 17:20

5hell it was you! Sorry for my rubbish pregnancy travel advice. I think you can eat sushi here because it has been frozen and therefore potential parasites will have been killed? It may be super fresh in Dubrovnik and therefore not have been frozen....
